Very, very good karma at a local estate today. How often do you get to snag a pedal car for $5?? And boxes full of vintage christmas, well that's just icing on the cake.

New Patriotic Wreaths and an Announcement
Hello, My Friends!~~~ Lately I have been aiming my attention in several directions: crafting, finding and listing goods on Dime Store Chic, and preparing for the June 15-16 The Vintage Home Market! Last night I listed two new patriotic wreaths in Beth's Bagz! Such fun! And I have been gath...
Happy, happy birthday, Beth! :O)
A Thursday Miscellany
Hello, My Friends!~~ I have a few photos to share with you today. A fun mixture... Our kitty, Gyro, sleeping on our bed, hugging my childhood stuffed dog, blissfully unaware of the camera so close. A cicada in our lettuce garden. I think about five million of his friends are on the way. This...
The tape dispenser is a major score!!!!!
Estate Sale Adventures: A Gorgeous Old Beauty and A Keeper
Hello, My Friends!~~ This weekend I had the pleasure of shopping at an estate sale in a lovely 19th century home in my town of Falls Church, VA. This house is on the city register of historic homes and cannot be torn down to make way for some hideous McMansion--yay! The pickings at the sale w...
It is awesome, Jeanette! The flowers are the best part!
Bottlecap Birdhouse
We have a Springtime fundraiser coming up at our Art Co-op in May. This time we are all making birdhouses that will be sold during a wine and beer tasting event in the town square. I put my thinking cap on because I have never made a birdhouse before....how hard can it be, really? I found t...
Beth, the face on the head vase is so pretty and so much better with the pin cushion addition!

Make Do!
Hello, My Friends!~~~ I recently found some adorable vintage vases! They are now pin cushions... This dear lady head vase was missing her hand, so I turned what was left into a mini pin cushion "corsage." Her hat sports lots of vintage millinery flowers, chenille bee and bird too! I also f...
That is HUGE! KILLER!!!!! Such an awesome haul!
Estate Sale Adventures: Spidey Sense
Hello, My Friends!~~ This past Friday, I attended an estate advertised only on Craigslist. The ad was written in a very high-strung manner, the author repeating several time in all caps: NO EARLY BIRDS. The cryptic directions to the sale indicated it was in the neighborhood next to mine, but the...
Beth, that is so freakin' awesome! I love it! It would be too pretty to mess up with a plant in it. How about one of those ferns that grow with air? So great!
Sassy Snail!
Hello, My Friends!~~ I go to quite a few estate sales and flea markets, but what I purchase is for Dime Store Chic and for use in creations for Beth's Bagz. I only have a few collections and finding things now to round them out is quite rare. So I don't keep any of what I purchase. Last week, I ...

Groovy!
Hello, My Friends!~~~ I hit an estate sale today and found a real groovy diamond in the rough! Belive it of not, this mod motto came from the home of a former DEA agent. Don't you love it?! I do too but I really have to do a catch a release. I listed it on ebay. I paid far more for it th...
Suzy, it is lovely!
Bargello Purse Completed
Whew! This project was a bear to complete. Of course I picked an old heavy upholstery fabric to pair with the thick bargello needlepoint that I completed. Add to that upcycled handles that had to be sewn on by hand, this project was uphill all the way. In the end I'm pleased with my results....
The Singer's shape reminds me of a stand mixer. Love, love, love the pink one!
The Sewing Machine Whisperer
I'm going to share something really big with you today. His name is Steve and he is The Sewing Machine Whisperer. Steve and his magical workshop of sewing machine wonders is headquartered in Portsmouth, VA. Portsmouth is part of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia where I live. Lucky me. But n...

Easter Crazy
Hello, My Friends!~~ I finished two new Easter/Spring wreaths today. I think they are a little crazy as I used lots of vintage bits n' bobs from the craft stash. I'll let you all be the judge... And... Both here today. Thanks for stopping by!~~~XXOO, Beth
Beth, do you get those annoying what can we do better calls from seller support? I get them and if I am feeling particularly testy pick up (I have caller ID). MY biggest pet peeve is that as a seller you cannot leave negative feedback for a buyer. I have settings that prohibit people with a certain feedback score from bidding on my items, but with no negative feedback this artificially inflates the scores, so these twits can bid on my items. I have been lucky enough to not have too many, thankfully. I have, every time I spoke with them mentioned this stupid practice to them and asked how do they get a lower score? If you can only leave positive feedback you only get the low scores on the non-payers. They try to justify it by saying the sellers used the negative feedback too liberally and that is why they removed it. They must think I am really, really stupid to by that one! I then regale them with how that makes no kind of logical sense at all and they must think I am a moron to buy that one. I get nothing accomplished on the call, but feel better when I hang up knowing I made them squirm. Just keep on doign what you do and don't let the morons get you down! :O) If I have the least issue with a buyer no matter how slight, I block them from bidding on my auctions. Sorry to have to do it, but you gotta!
And The Beat Goes On...
Hello, My Friends!~~ As you may remember from this previous post, I have expressed my disdain at recent "unruly" customers who have done thier best to take advantage of my kindness. I worked and worked with them to find a solution, but despite that they decided that they "deserve" my first born ...
What a lovely collection, Suzy! I love your collection. My tomato collection looks lame by comparison!
It Just Makes Sense
I've been interesting in sewing since I was old enough to thread a needle. No doubt this creative spark was initiated by my mother. MamaPeach always made my dresses when I was little. It was a yearly ritual to go to the fabric store and pick out our pattern and fabric for the Easter dress fo...
Here's one that I did on that first site you mentioned! I had an auction close last Saturday and give them the 7 days to pay (did you know there is not a site requirements as to how long they can take to pay?). At the end of the seven days I send the invoice again with a friendly reminder that it has been 7 days without payment and contact me blah, blah, blah. No contact and I have the seller assistant set to file an unpaid item grievance at day 10. It did and sent her the nasty "pay up deadbeat" (my wording) e-mail. She paid today and the reason she had not paid? She had a bid on another auction that ended this past Saturday. DOH, I completly missed that! I sent her a profuse apology. Of course, she bears a bit of the blame as she didn't send me a "Moron, I am bidding on another auction this week" email. :O)
The Bumps of Selling On Line
Hello, My Friends!~~ I had dealt with some not so pleasant people in recent on-line sales. I need to vent in a public forum, as perhaps you may say "yes, I have had theis happen to me!" and may feel better after reading the following rants. Here is story number one... In early-December I sold so...
I love the giant daisy quilt piece. It will be awesome as a tree skirt, Beth!
January Big Flea Buy and Brag
Hello, My Friends!~~~ Today, Hubby and I visited the DC Big Flea in Chantilly, VA. Hubby wanted to go because one of his favorite barbeque places is right next door. After braving super chilly temps before getting in, we starting combing the aisles for any deals. Unfortunately, I have learned th...
Beth, I am reading a book you might enjoy to go with your gratitude for 2013. It is called the Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. It is about a woman that chose to make her life happier and set goals around that. It boils down to gratitude and I think you would enjoy reading it, too. I keep the book in my car and read it when I have some time left after lunch, while I am waiting for a store to open, for a friend, or for the estate sale to start. I have finished many a book that way!
Resolved
Hello, My Friends!~~~ For 2013 I resolve not to make any New Year's resolutions. In year's past, I resolved to blog more, but realistically I blog only when I feel there is something of interest to you or a fun photo or two to share. I spend most of my time (about 50 hours a week) searching for ...
I can barely see through the drool on my screen. What an epic haul!
It's Raining Woolworth's!
Hello, My Friends!~~~ Today hubby and I went for a little journey to a warehouse estate sale! The fine fellows running the sale had combined several estates and warehouses of accumulated goods. They advertised as having LOTS of vintage Christmas. They were correct! What I found so interesting is...

Estate Sale Happiness
I found some very happy looking vintage cookware in a little house in Newport News today. This was the estate of a woman who was German. She met an American GI in her hometown, married him and moved to Virginia. The house was crammed full of so much German goodness. These heavy enamel pots...
Wow, you did sell a boatload. By the time I got there on Sunday the cupboard was looking bare! It was awesome eyecandy!
Post CRAFT SHOW: Trinkle Hall In Williamsburg, VA
Hello, My Friends!~~ I finally got my act together to post photos of mine and Suzy's booth at the Trinkle Hall Craft Show in Williamsburg, Va this past weekend. We only do one craft show a year and this one is enough for five craft shows! Due to the huge amount of tourists coming to Williamsburg...

Romantic Homes Magazine, Oh Snap!
How thrilling is this? My wreath on the cover of Romantic Homes. In my little world it's pretty darn top shelf. I've been keeping this little secret since April, telling NO ONE, not even my BFF Beth. I wanted to make it a BIG surprise :-> I've been making my wreaths, like forever, and sell...
