Wil, please give Ryan my sincerest, highest five that I can give. And one to you as well, for being such a great parent, and one to Anne for the exact same reason.
I cannot convey in words how hard I laughed after reading that.
A troubling realization
This comes to us from my son, Ryan Wheaton. Click it to embiggen: Click to Embiggen Footnote: If there was any question that love -- not biology -- makes a family, look no further than my son's delightfully twisted sense of humor, which I think I helped foster.
That looks like a lot of fun to play, and you guys looked like you were having a total blast playing it!
New Tabletop! Ticket to Ride with Colin Ferguson, my wife Anne, and our friend Amy!
I am especially geeked out in this episode. I mean, switch to decaf, Wheaton. As always, you can watch this is glorious HIGH DEFINITION at YouTube. Please subscribe, like, and tell your friends to do the same... we'd really like to get a second season.
Seeing you with the entire TNG family back on stage was almost beyond words.
I was also very excited that you realized who I was. LOL
It was fantastic to see you in Calgary; I hope you will be invited back to the Expo.
@clinton_o
After twenty years, I finally got to say this.
A lot of incredible and wonderful things happened at the Calgary Expo this weekend, and when I'm not as exhausted I'll write about all of them. Until then, though, here is one of them that I really hope you'll spend 5 minutes watching: If you can't see the video, you can watch it right here a...

Mr. Wheaton rolled a natural 20 on his choice of Mrs. Wheaton. Well played, Mr. Wheaton, well played.

Check. And. Mate.
On our way home from the grocery store tonight, I said to Anne, "Have you heard of this Tumblr called I'm Remembering?" "No," she said, "what's that?" "It's all these images and things from the eighties and early nineties, and it's pretty awesome." In spite of myself, I added with a rather copio...
I donated $25 for you and Anne, Wil.

To celebrate the legacy of our awesome dog
Last year Anne and I raised some money for the Pasadena Humane Society in memory of our awesome dog, Ferris. When I wrote about it here, Anne said: Just over 8 years ago, I made a right turn instead of a left out of the Home Depot parking lot. That was a turn that would change our lives forev...
That is just too funny.
one of my favorite moments from PAX East
This is what happens when Paul and Storm and I Get Excited And Make Things: I forget precisely how this whole thing came together, but I remember Paul showing me the video, which prompted some sort of "this is the most amazing thing I've seen since the last time I said that" response from me...
Done.
I'm happy to see that as of 4:38pm PDT, you have exceeded your goal, Wil.
I'm also happy to contribute to the cause, over and above your goal amount.
@clinton_o
to celebrate the memory of our awesome dog
This weekend, Anne and I are going to go up to the Rose Bowl and join a few thousand other animal lovers for the Pasadena Humane Society's annual wiggle waggle walk. Every year, it seems, we plan to do the walk, but every year something comes up and we end up missing it. This year, we're co...
I've been lucky, I've only been hit with a few spambots, but I totally understand the frustration of it.
Hope to see you back and tweeting again soon, Wil
@clinton_o
the spambots on twitter are completely out of control
A few months ago, Twitter changed their @replies tab into something called @mentions. This had a significant impact on a lot of us who use Twitter, especially those of us with a large number of followers. Originally, I'd only see a message with @wilw in it if that's the way the message began. It...
I'm still waiting for the new edition of HDOOL, but I'm not impatient. This means no anger/hate/angst directed at you from me. It'll be ready when it's ready, right Wil?
Cheers!
time to write
Working on Leverage inspired and stirred up all those weird things in my brain that make me an artist. In an effort to maintain the creative momentum I experienced while working on the show, I went directly from wrapping my episode to working on this series of short stories I've wanted to write ...
In no particular order:
Galga
Tempest
Star Trek (sit in)
Tron
Pinball game: ST TNG or TOS
If I get a 5th game, it would be Robotron.
nostalgia overload
One of the super-useful bits of advice I picked up somewhere about writing and blogging goes like this: most people can't write for a book and a blog at the same time, because our brains get different kinds of feedback and rewards from each. For most of us, if we had to pick, we'll write in our ...
I live in Alberta, just north of Montana.
We have 4 seasons here:
Winter, More Winter, Still Winter, and Road Work.
my awesome brother
A couple of years ago, my brother and his wife moved to a ranch in Montana, and while I miss them both every single day, my personal loss is blunted by how happy they are up there. Jeremy and I keep in touch with e-mail and phone calls and stuff, which I thought would make me miss him less, but ...
TTS does have its uses.
However, for an audio book, I much prefer a person reading it too me. They can add inflection that TTS still doesn't have. Maybe it will someday in the future, but not at the moment.
wil wheaton vs. text 2 speech
There's quite a dustup at the moment about an editorial the president of the Author's Guild wrote in the New York Times, railing against Amazon's Kindle 2, which has a text to speech feature that he claims creates unauthorized derivative works and should be stopped at all costs. I'm not the only...
After watching that video clip, I logged right into iTunes and bought it.
Phenomenal.
Thanks for introducing me to a new artist, Wil.
Zoë Keating is phenomenal. NPR should give her credit when they use her music.
I first heard Zoë Keating about a month ago. I wish I could remember the steps that lead to me discovering her music, but all I can remember is how floored I was when I listened to it, and how I couldn't buy her albums fast enough. Zoë plays the Cello, which is cool on its own, but she does some...
Well, at least the only spoiled the end of Season 3.
You still have the total Mind Frak that is the final 10 of Season 4.
*Spoilers kept to myself*
well, at least i got a good story out of it...
My table in the vendor's room at the Phoenix Comicon was right next to Aaron Douglas. Aaron is a good friend, and he knows that I'm a huge fan of his show and admirer of his work. He also knows that I'm way behind on BSG (near the end of season 3) so he's made this heroic effort to protect me fr...
Of course we'll still be here. The world can't happen without geeks anymore!

i'm not going to lie to you: there's a lot of awesome packed into this post
Hi there, I'm Wil, and I'm the luckiest guy in the world. Why is that? Well, allow me to present the following items to support this outrageous claim: Quite some time ago, I engaged in correspondence with one of the guys who makes woot go. One thing lead to another, and I ended up designing a T-...
I would never tell them you're just a geek.
I would tell them "Wil's just this guy, you know?"

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. :)
what to expect if you follow me on twitter (or: how I'm going to disappoint you in 6 quick steps)
Yesterday, my friend Alan tweeted a link to this story of how Twitter was born. If you use Twitter at all, you should totally check it out because it's awesome. If you don't use Twitter, you should totally check it out, because a lot of what you may have heard about Twitter is probably filtered ...

Wil,
What I expect from following @wilw is for Wil Wheaton to be Wil Wheaton. I should hope you wouldn't change, because then you woulnd't be Wil Wheaton that tweets funny, weird, and geeky stuff.

Wil,
What are the odds of you selling a limited run of that autographed picture?
Hmmmm?
Oh, what picture you ask? This one:

this is probably the closest i'll ever come to having something in common with stephen colbert
Operation Crazy Awesome Idea is nearing the "Time to find out if this is crazy awesome or just crazy," moment of truth, so that's where I'm sort of living at the moment. I also have a writing deadline in two hours, so I'm trying not to run around my office waving my hands over my head and scream...
That was so bizzarre, I just *had* to laugh.
your daily dose of surreality
I have no idea what the hell is going on here, but I love it: (via Reddit)
As I said in Vegas 2007 when I realized I had autograph ticket 0001 for you, and you said when I showed you what ticket number I had:
"That is SO COOL!"
in which my already nerdy office gets a little bit nerdier
So ... I'm not even going to try to introduce this, because I can't do it justice with my words: Yes, Angie K., who makes awesome things, figured out a way to make a freaking paint by numbers painting of the infamous Velvet Wesley Crusher painting being held by me, and then she painted it. Angi...

A teacher once told an improv class I was in that performers should always work to amuse themselves and have fun while they're performing, because "when you're enjoying yourself on stage, the audience will relax and have fun with you." It's one of those things that seems completely obvious, but ...
Looks to me like everyone there had a big boat-load o'fun with that.
Makes a case for buying a PS3, just to have that game.
Can I make the budget numbers work?
hmmmmmmmm
it doesn't make a difference if we look cool or not...
After playing Rock Band 2 for 2 straight hours and struggling though some songs I've never played before, I was worried that when the videos started making their way online, I'd look like an asshole who didn't know how to play fake instruments, and that everyone would laugh at me. But when I...

another batman interview, and a new preview clip
I did an audio interview with ComicVine all about my episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold which airs - say it with me! - this Friday, January 23rd at 8pm on Cartoon Network. The interview is here, if you're interested in hearing me talk. Also, here's another cool preview clip, that's differ...
