Thank you for this post and gently explaining your decision. It used to be just PETA crying foul on this issue but it's becoming more and more of a standard realization.
I've got one friend - a hunter, no less - who refuses to attend Ringling for the reasons cited above. I say make the humans perform unnatural tricks, even if that means keeping the clowns around.
Why I am Against Ringling Bros.
The circus is coming to town, but my family will not be there. Last month I was offered a very generous family package for the Ringling Bros. circus by a mom website and while the offer was spectacular and one that my kids would love, I had to decline. Morally and ethically I am appalled by the ...
You, of all people, know that Karma is cyclical. The more you give, the more you get. It makes people happy to give because intrinsically they know it will come back tenfold. I'm so glad you have wonderful friends who will rescue you but you are a Ride-to-the-Airport kind of friend and those are hard to find.
I'm more concerned with your car, which seems to leave you stranded too often for my comfort.
One Week
One week ago I started my day in the most productive way. Up earlier than necessary, got tons of extra chores done and still managed to make it out the door with 20 minutes to spare. Chalk it up to a gut feeling telling me to do as much as possible as soon as possible. While backing out of th...
I love cooking but didn't always feel that way. It wasn't until my stint as a restaurant reviewer and food writer that I began to appreciate the creativity involved. It's basically art you can eat! Don't shy away from making something big or fancy for yourself - that's what freezers are for.
If you really want to set a goal for yourself, throw a dinner party! I'll come - I'm really skilled at eating.
The Last....
If you've read my blog (or know me IRL) for any length of time, you know that I hate to cook. Not a fan of the kitchen. Unless I'm cleaning it. Cooking...the act of buying ingredients, mixing them together- correctly- then putting said ingredients together to form something resembling a tasty, h...
Wow. Incredibly beautiful song, Camille. I played it three times and only had to stop 'cause I was getting too sad for Neda, Iran and humans in general. Everyone should hear this.

Speaking of adorable, you can come to Chicago in old potato sacks and your Maria-ness will charm the Jimmy Choos right off us BlogHers every single time. Just bring that famous winning smile, Niles, and you're good to go.
Recycling My BlogHer Fashion
Since my clothing budget for BlogHer '09 is $0, I will be recycling previously worn fashion. The annual BlogHer conference is my rare dress-up opportunity so I have some pieces that rarely appear on my body other than conference time. However, I would very much love to win a style consultation ...
Wow. I am stunned by this beautiful and sad post. I cried hard! I feel like I miss Daisy now too! You had to make a very difficult decision and I know you did so with maximum love and respect for your beloved pup.
We are so, so lucky to have the Daisys in our lives, aren't we?
Goodbye To My Beloved Daisy
Four weeks ago today I put my beloved Daisy to sleep. Many of you know about Daisy from my Doggie Frolics, but for those of you who don't, Daisy was my wonderful cocker spaniel that I had for eleven years. She was my girl, my baby, and my puppy. She was the best little dog anyone could want...
