Well everyone, my final presentation was last Tuesday and went extremely well. We had the VP of Marketing unexpectedly sit in on our presentation and he was very pleased with what he heard. I am relieved to be done with this project and am glad to sit back and relax (somewhat) until graduation in two weeks. Like it was mentioned in the previous post, time management wasn't my big problem for the semester. I agree that your teammates are the biggest piece of the puzzle. My issue was only having capstone class for spring semester and therefore getting stuck with... Continue reading

One week left everyone! I feel like this semester Has flown by. This past week spent our time working on final touches. Once that workshop is complete and we can focus on our presentation. We essentially have a presentation put together but just need to polish it up and make it cohesive. This past week we realized we had done an extra deliverable so we left it in the report and are thinking of it as a bonus for our client. It is interesting finalizing the final report and watching it all come together. Those pieces we thought would take... Continue reading

Time is quickly escaping us all as the semester is quickly coming to an end.Last week we worked on analyzing our market research and were pleasantly surprised with our results. We had a higher number of participants than we hoped for and were intrigued by what the results suggested. This past week our group spent time taking inventory of what we have left to accomplish and what we have done. We are lucky that we have been adding to the paper each step of the way so that we don't have to write it out all at once at the... Continue reading

With spring break last week, our group still chugged along with analyzing research. We met with Drew the week before spring break and had a very enlightening meeting. While we met to discuss branding and a cohesive look for the our clients company, we started running into some issues. Ultimately, with Drew's help, we decided to scrap that idea due to it being too much work for our project and not enough time. I am very thankful for meetings like this because Drew helped us see we were about to bite off more than we could chew in the allotted... Continue reading

This week marks the end of our market research and finally being able to move on with analyzing the data. Working with the construction site has proven difficult but it will definitely be worth the data we have gotten. After our second review with Drew, our group now feels the direction we kept wanting to go in is indeed the right one. The client wants one thing, and while they need what they want, they also need another thing all together. This was an issue that kept popping into our heads and now that we have the go ahead that... What one word would you use to describe walking around the Nippert construction site while interviewing workers for research? Well mine would be exciting! I am a big Bearcat fan so to be walking on the site before it's done was really awesome! But that is besides the point. I have a new respect for construction workers in general after walking the site for an hour and a half. We were only there for a small amount of time and had on winter boots, big down coats, scarfs, and gloves and I was freezing by the time we left. Those... Continue reading

Dear Mother Nature, I love snow, but come on! A week of snow days? Really? Please stop, Christy This past week was a mix of productivity and cancelations. Our second meeting with Turner Construction was to take place at the Nippert construction site last Thursday. However, with snow days and all this extremely cold weather, Turner canceled our meeting. We have rescheduled that meeting for this week and are looking forward to getting more time with them. This research is the MOST valuable part of our project because the type of research we are doing has not been done by... Continue reading

After having a "well that didn't go as planned" moment (not in regards to capstone) this weekend, my brother imparted a few words of wisdom that he recently read. He said to me "the struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow". In reality, he was actually trying to be a pain in the butt and mock me but I had a very clear light bulb moment to that quote. What we are doing in Capstone right now is just this quote, over and over again. Yes, school helps us learn the material necessary for... Continue reading

If I had to use one word to describe this past week of work on our Capstone, it would definitely be "interesting". Over the past week we had a construction site cancel on us for interviews, clients sit in on the Innovation Tools blast class, and we created our post trial surveys. Early last week we were also able to get final approval for the Charter. We rescheduled our interviews at a construction site for Monday of this week. Even though we had to push the appointment back, I'm not worried because it gave me more time to practice the... Continue reading

This week was another successful week and another successful meeting! Three weeks down! After our meeting with our client this week one thing is clear- our group may need to watch for the little things our client might want to add on to the project in the future . Little things seemed to be brought up during the meeting that there never mentioned before, small things like the client adding more deadlines to our timetable that were never mentioned the first time we asked if there was anything we needed to know about in our first meeting. Now this may... Continue reading

A very good place to start! (Yes those might be lyrics to a Sound of Music song but they definitely reflect how I felt this past week.) With the Charter being our main focus this week, I almost dreaded starting it because I was afraid of doing it incorrectly which would set a crumbling foundation for the rest of the Capstone project. However, once my group sat down and hashed out a ton of the details I feel better about what direction we are headed. The hardest part of the entire Charter was figuring out deadlines and dates. We are... Continue reading

First off, our client is West Chester Protective Gear. Just in case you have never heard of them before, they offer personal protective solutions that improve the performance and safety of works on the job and at home. They have many different lines of protective gear (mostly gloves- imagine construction gloves or welding gloves) and also have licenses to produce gloves for John Deere and Scott's Miracle Grow. (See below for the gloves we were given today at our meeting.) We sat down with West Chester Protective Gear on Thursday and spoke with Anne (Director of Product Development), Amanda, and...
