A pile of gnarly branches have been tucked into the corner of our living room for months. I knew my husband's intention - they are an interesting material for Ikebana arrangements. Last weekend I cleaned and decluttered the living room... Continue reading

The Ikebana arrangement that I made yesterday puts a HUGE smile on my heart. Although I snapped some photos of it, I thought I would capture the arrangement in my new Dabbler's Journal. Although part of the arrangement falls off... Continue reading

I started a new journal that I've titled, "A Dabbler's Journal." The title page was designed layering music paper and a napkin with the pears printed on it. On a spare piece of music paper, I used watercolor paints for... Continue reading

Last Sunday the bluebird skies were calling me out to play. My husband and I decided to hit the road for a little ride. Just before we left I googled, "Best coffee shops in Maine." The search pointed us to... Continue reading

The word "movement" echoed in my head for all the month of February. It was clear this was to be the subject for my second collage in my new stepping stone collage series. I have the tendency toward not exercising... Continue reading

My husband is soooo romantic. He dropped off a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a mix of small yellow roses, irises, pink snap dragon, and green hydrangea and a homemade card with the painting you see above. His note reads, "The... Continue reading

For several weeks now I've been courting an idea to create a series of collages called Stepping Stones. The idea is rooted in a desire to play with my favorite medium, collage, and to explore what's next in my journey.... Continue reading

Big warm soul hugs, Suzi! While I haven't moved nearly as often as you have, I too have moved many times, often cross country. I've managed to stay in my current abode for 9-1/2 years…an amazing feat! It was in part because when I landed here I was a single mother and I wanted to keep things constant for my son. As I looked back on my moves I was often restless, running, and searching. I have since learned to settle in and get comfortable with me. I'm at a cross roads now in my life, what held me here has gone. Both of my parents died within 10 months of each other, prior to that my beloved dog died, and my teenage son wanted and needed to move 1800 miles to have quality time with his dad. I haven't loved the city I'm in and for years dreamed of moving. Now that I'm in the position to go anywhere I'm feeling more lost. It is time to dust off my journal and start exploring. I'm not sure why I'm sharing all of this here, perhaps to say, thanks for sharing your story. I've been in a lull creatively and thinking about quitting everything (blog, website, etc.) perhaps all I really need to do is journal again. small steps. Wishing you all the best as you find your peaceful center. I believe we all have it. Although I'm feeling (at times) lost, I do have lots of joy and peace. I've admired your spirit and spunk over the last 6 years. Soul Hugs! Kathryn
