I'd like to get involved, but I can't figure out how. The blog is just a bunch of Medium articles, and their site directs you back to Medium.

Thanks Ari!

Hey Steve, You wouldn't "sell" the songs exactly. You'd receive royalties on them through your PRO. Sounds like you're looking for a publisher to pitch your songs. Taxi is a possibility. My thoughts here: Brian.

Ari! Thanks for the kind words and info. I agree completely.

Glad you found it useful! Yeah, I would agree that a mastered track has a considerable advantage over an unmastered one. Leave as little to the imagination as possible!

Great post Emily! It seems to me that some people are missing the point: it isn’t an either/or proposition. Putting your music on Bandcamp doesn’t mean it can’t be on iTunes, just as creating a profile on Twitter doesn’t mean you can’t be on Facebook. Bandcamp has been my primary sales outlet for years, and will most likely continue to be. While they certainly don’t have the biggest audience, plenty of fans discover me through Bandcamp, and are much more likely to pay for music then fans who discover me elsewhere.

Jeff, it appears we led parallel lives! I graduated in '88 as well, and worked a summer in junior high at a computer store to save for a 9600 baud modem. I was phreaking like crazy, and wrote a popular program just like yours called HackPack. I ran two BBS's: The Mausoleum and Afterlife ][, but my life revolved around Ultima III. Good times.

I just downloaded on my Mac, but it won't let me add Twitter. Seesmic only asks for my username and password, and every time I click on "Add Account" it comes back with "you must specify user credentials." Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Nice work Chris! I really do think free is the way to go for most artists starting out. As a music fan, I love MOG and Spotify, and I'm sure Apple's offering will be at least as good. We may just find out in a few days! We do earn money from these streaming services - not enough yet to buy a Coke, but that may change.
