You raise some good points. I agree that 360 feedback is invaluable, but not that it should be reciprocal. I've seen that lead to collusion. Discipline specific measures are a challenge, but not impossible. Medical associations could and should collaborate with university departments of epidemiology to find what works and what does not. Thanks again for your comments. They keep me honest :)

I remember! :) It's so good to hear that you are doing well. I'm working out of RIH, but visit your part of the world on a regular basis. P.S. Grandchildren are wonderful, aren't they?

I wish. The right wing media up here showed clips from the same interview - and made him out to be a hero - and Offitt to be so close minded as to be foaming at the mouth. Yes, a sanctimonious little man - but still a dangerous one.

Yep. Been there a few times, done that and collected the airmiles. All while feeling incredibly inadequate (being a paediatrician). Now that I'm a bureaucrat, I'll be able to write the patient a memo... And you're probably right - the people you treated are really the flight attendants, in the same way that many consultations are done to reassure our colleagues.

Thank you so much for your comment. If you’ve read my post about being a recovering paediatrician, you’ll know that we have a lot in common. I’ve linked to your site.

Well, you’ve sent me scurrying to my Oxford English Dictionary to check my usage. Machination – the action or process of contriving or planning; intrigue, plotting.

Thanks for your comment! I'd be grateful to learn how you heard of my blog. This is a political issue - I imagine you get these sorts of machinations wherever two or more people are co-located :)
