Funny how Mel Gibson is selectively held is high dudgeon by the media while other celebrities can seem to do no wrong despite all sorts of antics (Kobe Bryant's recent homophobic slurs went virtually uncovered). The level of ink that has been deliberately spilled in an effort to tendentiously bash Mel Gibson is truly unprecedented and alarming. Never mind that "The Beaver" is actually a stunningly original film that deserves to be seen. ;-)
I had to drive two hours to go see "The Beaver" and I thought Mel Gibson's protean performance was well worth the trip. The fact that this film is in extremely limited release and that it is more of an art house picture than a multiplex phenom seems to be lost on you.

All the snarky Mel Gibson bashing "jumped the shark" some time ago. To be honest, the amount of effort that has gone into hypocritically demonizing Mel in the media is laughable.

Gibson's performance in "The Beaver" is Oscar worthy. It will be interesting to see if he gets snubbed by Hollywood the same way Mickey Rourke did for "The Wrestler."

In an era when Hollywood is churning out more derivatives than a Wall St. bank (think "Meet the Fockers" with Robert De Niro), it's refreshing to see Jodie Foster attempting something original and unorthodox like "The Beaver." Mel Gibson apparently gives an Oscar worthy performance in the film.

Gibson is a truly enigmatic actor and protean force in modern cinema. Would love to see him nominated for an Oscar!

Balloon Boy was biggest media hoax of the last decade until Oksana came along. Her mendacity appears to know no bounds...

Also worth noting that Steven Zeitchik has been blogging/tweeting about the premature demise of Mel Gibson's career since the moment the Oksana scandal broke. No bias there, Eh Steve?

I'm continually amazed by all the contrived hypocrisy and phony sanctimonious outrage surrounding Mel Gibson's recent contretemps. In my lifetime, I don't think I've ever seen any actor/director come under such relentless scrutiny or wholesale character assasination by the media at large. With that said, Mel Gibson makes better movies than most and I'll continue to see his films as long as they continue to be entertaining. By contrast, Winona Ryder is a liar and a shoplifter who rarely makes a movie worth watching.

Larry King has been married 8 times. Isn't it just a tad ironic that he would consider himself to be in a position to cast aspersions at Mel Gibson over a broken relationship? Honestly, Larry King should have retired a decade ago...

When Mel Gibson is acquitted from the domestic abuse charges, he should emerge from the courthouse & yell "FREEDOM!" just like in Braveheart.

Rest assured that Oksana is a fake, phony, fraud. She is also an extortionist and a liar.

All the tendentious Mel Gibson bashing has become a cliché at this point. By gratuitously piling on Mel, all Zach is proving is that he moves with the Hollywood herd (yet another lockstep lobotomized lemming in tinseltown). After a poor showing in "Dinner for Schmucks" and an even less appealing turn in the upcoming "Due Date", rest assured that Zach's comedic trajectory has nowhere to go but down.

News Flash: Mel Gibson doesn't need the Hollywood machine that champions pedaphiles like Roman Polanski and Woody Allen to get back on his feet. Gibson has already succeeded quite brilliantly "outside the system".

Was Tennessee Williams talking about Oksana Grigorieva when he said, "The only thing worse than a liar is a liar that's also a hypocrite"?

If you plug the keyword "gold digger" into the Google search box, Oksana Grigorieva's name is a top ten result. Poetic justice?

Oksana has brought out every piece of ammunition imaginable to score a financial package but extortion doesn't pay. Didn't she see "Ransom"?

Doesn't Oprah Winfrey remember what happed when she interviewed James Frey? Oksana is an even bigger fraud than him...

It’s not as if habits of deep reflection or rigorous reasoning ever came naturally to people but realizing Oksana's a liar is a no brainer.
