Seriously? A non-zero number of people want to touch you? Creepy :/ But honestly, anyone can shake hands at a conference or a convention, but only gamers can stay safe, cool, and respectful with the iron guard salute. :) This worked totally awesome at PAXEast and I never felt snubbed.
Game on: GenCon info, chapbooks, and dice. Lots and lots of dice.
I leave for GenCon in about 3d12 hours. While I'm not thrilled about getting up at 4am on Thursday, knowing that the reward for dragging myself out of bed at areyoufuckingserious o'clock is three days of gaming and geeking makes it all worthwhile. I'm blessing dice, taking pictures, and signing ...
So amazing. Words cannot even describe how awesome this is. :)
"as his kilt rises..."
I think this is one of those rare things that can be equally enjoyed* by those who have context, and those who don't. *for very disturbing values of 'enjoyed'
I think it's really cool that the Unicorn Pegasus Kitten thing is going to help the Lupus Alliance of America. My mom has lupus and it is really great to see awesome people doing awesome things to help support awareness and research. Thanks!
Sunday at the 2010 Phoenix Comicon - Super Happy Funtimes, Eureka, Meeting Stan Lee
This is the last of three posts about the 2010 #PHXCC. If you're looking for the other two posts ... you know, I'm not going to link them for you, because I think that would insult your intelligence. You know how to find them. Sunday: I woke up Sunday feeling like Monty Python lied when they sai...
Hi Wil, this is totally unrelated to this post, but I just got the audio book of Just a Geek for the drive from CT to family in OH and it was not only one of the best audiobooks I've ever heard, but really one of the best books I've ever "read." You said that when you started writing stories you tried to write like David Sedaris. And while I totally love David Sedaris, he usually just makes me laugh. Your book made me laugh and cry and be excited and stand up and cheer for you. I haven't been this touched by a book in a long time. So thank you for your writing. And thank you for being such a cool geeky guy.
Oh yeah, and thanks for blessing my dice at PAX East. I've gotten a few twenties, and a whole bunch of 19s! How's 19 work for you!!!!
some of us are looking at the stars
On January 28, 1986, I was home from school with the flu. I remember that, no matter what I did, I couldn't get warm, so I was sitting in a hot bath when my mom knocked on the bathroom door. "There was an accident with the space shuttle," she said, in the same voice she used when she told me th...
I could definitely use a geek fitness plan!
And you should tell us the name of your jerky insurance company. That's how people know not to do business with them anymore. Capitalism requires access to information! :)
It turns out I had a fairly geeky weekend
In an effort to force myself out of this non-creative, unmotivated funk I've been in post-Eureka, I now commence a braindump from this weekend: I pressed the plunger down on my coffee press and tried to clear the sleep from my eyes while Anne put the orange juice back into the fridge. The mornin...
