Hi Linda! Thanks for posting! I'm not sure, but that's really cool. I would recommend contacting St. Julian directly to see if you can get more info on the bottle itself and whether there's some kind of market for them!

Wineries shine at Michigan Wine & Spirits Competition
If you missed the Gold Medal Reception for the 2010 Michigan Wine & Spirits Competition, you missed out on great company, great wines and great food — including the most cheese I've ever seen in one place. The Aug. 5 reception highlighted the Best of Class as well as double gold, gold and some...

Thanks, Mike! David and Margaret are great. As I mentioned, I'm a big fan of the Improvisation; Shannon loves the Requisite.
Video Feature: Circa Estate Winery
Margaret and David Bell want you to "make Circa your own." Check it out as the Leelanau Peninsula couple talk about their philosophy behind wine tasting — and winemaking — and explain why you'll find cryptic buttons on their counter in lieu of a wine list. Links mentioned: • Circa Estate Winery
Thanks for the feedback and kind words, guys!
Would love tips for Napa, though it may be a ways off! ;) And glad to help others add ideas to their bucket list! :)
The Wine Bucket List
A few weeks ago, at the urging of someone we know, Shannon and I independently made bucket lists ... as in, lists of things we want to do before we kick the bucket. (And no, this was not inspired by my impending and very daunting 30th birthday, though I suppose the timing, considering my clic...
Thank you, Mike, Josh and Leslie for watching! And thank you Dannielle and David for providing the great subject matter! :)
Podcast Episode #24: Old Shore Vineyards 2009 Turkey Nest Pinot Gris
We check out the first wine ever — 2009 Turkey Nest Pinot Gris — out of Old Shore Vineyards, on the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail. Links mentioned: • Old Shore Vineyards
LOL! Tonight Shannon's like, "Um, I noticed an error in your blog." "What?" "It says Lorenzo drew up his plans thousands of miles above the Earth. I didn't know he was an astronaut." D'oh! I meant to type FEET! (I have since fixed it. Sorry, Lorenzo. :))
And Brian...LOL.
A millennial's love letter to Michigan wine country
One of my closest friends doesn't much care for wine. And I can't say I blame him. He views wine as little more than glorified grape juice. He considers the culture surrounding it elitist and pretentious. I’m confident that if the conversation ever progressed that far without eliciting an eyeb...
Hi there! As you can see, Michigan wines have a very loyal and passionate fan base! With all of the increased emphasis these days on putting local food on your plate, it only seems natural that the movement extend to your glass as well! Of course, you wouldn't want to choke something down -just- because it's local, but that's the beauty of it — there are tons of Michigan wineries producing GREAT wine. And the stories behind the wineries, the people behind them — they're amazing. Hope you'll decide to give some Michigan wines a chance ... you might find a bottle (or 50!) that you like!

The Jolly Pumpkin/Artisan Beers and Michigan Wines
Went to The Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor this weekend, which I think has been there for about a year. The patio, way in the back, is spacious, woody and really cozy. Great place to go for good beer, but, oddly, their wine list is made up exclusively of Michigan wines. From what I understand, Michig...
I should note here that I was informed on Facebook that UNDERGROUND CHEESECAKE CO. at the asylum makes Amical's Black Bottom Cake and most of the restaurant's other desserts. (Cue drool.) So be sure to check them out, I want to make sure they get their due!
Eat, Drink, Blog
I'm a third of the way through Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir "Eat, Pray, Love," about her year-long journey of self-discovery through Italy, Indonesia and Italy, and so enthralled was I by the idea of a solo, mind-cleansing adventure that I decided to embark on one of my own. Of course, unlike...
I will definitely put these on my list! I wanted to walk the trails, I even had a little map, but the CATERPILLARS scared me off. Dangling from every tree at eye level. (shudder) So I didn't get a chance. :( I've never been to Holland — you'll have to let me know what you find there! :)

Thanks, Anne! I have heard great things about Red Ginger, I'll have to check it out. Haven't been to Poppycock or Warehouse Lounge, either. (Where's Warehouse? I've seen Poppycock...) My other familiar favorites up there are the cajun crawfish salad at North Peak Brewery (BEST SALAD EVER), the ravioli at TraVino and the "udder delight" (ice cream on a brownie, topped with fudge) at Moomer's. I wish I could eat like that every day. :)

For the record, I still haven't figured out exactly how to describe that taste I just couldn't put my finger on! ;)
Thanks for commenting guys!

In the interest of full disclosure, we should note that Harding's Markets is one of our sponsors (and we appreciate that!). Also, if the camera work makes you motion sick, blame Shannon! :) He was behind the lens for this one!
Harding's Michigan Wine Conference Promotes Community
Harding's Michigan Wine Conference was held March 11th in Kalamazoo. They talked about fostering more of a community around the industry and focused on how to better market the wines. I also visited Harding's to see their massive selection of Michigan wines.
Yum, I adore the sangiovese!

March 12 - The Good the Bad and the Ugly
The Good Once again there was too much good this week to limit myself to just one thing. The week started off with a bang, and faded into outrageous hilarity. There was an awesome Twitter tasting event featuring Michigan winery Black Star Farms (on Twitter at @bstar2009) that was organized...
Thanks for the post, Chris!
I agree, tasting is the very best way to know if a wine is for you, so that's why it's so important (and fun!) to check out the tasting rooms at the wineries themselves. Unfortunately, I'm willing to bet there are many people who turn up their nose based on appearance and are missing out on a lot of great wines.
2 Lads' packaging is definitely tops. During the Tweet & Taste, I showed off a pic of one of the sparkling wine bottles on my kitchen table with philodendron and pothos cuttings in it. Way better than any vase, and the ultimate in recycling! ;)
Label Love
Michigan By The Bottle sidekick Cortney shares her thoughts on wine packaging. Just as the cliche warns against judging a book by its cover, it's equally unwise to judge a wine by its label. That said, it's easy to underestimate the importance of aesthetics. For the consumer unfamili...
Thanks, Coryn and Mike! We had a blast doing it! We can't wait for the next one. We appreciate Black Star being the "guinea pigs" on our first installment, and we appreciate both of you taking part. Glad to hear, Mike, that word about the quality of BSF's wines is getting out!
