I think this is another case of snobby programmers thinking they know so much. The problems mentioned are more suited to people who are 'programmable programmers' (code monkeys). I'm a self taught programmer and keep seeing articles like this from experienced programmers who are just stepping on people who are trying to climb the ladder.
