So Jason is back and making up for lost time on the press right now. No lunch for him this week but food on the table at home I guess! I think he is pleased.
There was one calendar winner from the blog comments. liz@lifedreaming please email me a mailing address where your calendar can be sent.
Should the snake get his job back?
Unfortunate news to report! Because of the continued tough economic conditions and stressful times, we made the decision last month not to produce a 2013 Cranky Pressman promotional wall calendar. This was not a choice taken lightly but one we believed best for all parties. There are however ...

And the final book winner is Sylvia. This is not only because of her over-gushing love of paper, but because she understands that overlapping two ink colors is as old gal Martha Stewart would say... a good thing.
Thanks everybody for playing along. We appreciate all the comments.

He likes tedious work, unpredictable accidents and human error but we won't hold that against him, so JooHee Toon is our second book winner.
Actually we very much agree with JooHee and wish more people would just loosen up.

Daniel Kearsey. Anyone who uses grandpa and trade in the same sentence knows how to get to an old guy.
Well done Danny Boy. The other two winners will be announced soon.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I feel the inky passion in them all. We are about to choose our three winners but see there are a few commenters who did not include a URL or other way to be reached. If your comment is one of these please email me at jamie(at)crankypressman(dot)com so I can contact you!

Thanks for the post. We appreciate you noticing and the attention. Yes, the official blog part of our site is a tad neglected at times. It's just so hard for old folks to find the time to do real posts with all the tweeting, pinning and other things one must 'post' these days. Actually though, we have been thinking a lot recently about what we could do with the blog and have some interesting ideas. I guess that is the first step towards doing! Thanks again.

Hopelessly dated and out of touch.
Everything said in the last post is still ongoing except we are now quoting projects and taking on new work and customers with open arms and toothless smiles. E-mail us with your job details and we will act very helpful and appreciative. Continue reading

Wood Type Evolved
Curated by April Sheridan and Nick Sherman, Wood Type Evolved opened a couple of weeks ago and runs into December. It explores new art being made with traditional printer's materials and is a fantastic show that I throughly enjoyed and recommend. Continue reading

Okay folks we have a winner in both categories.
Scott T. McClelland was the first to answer what's wrong with the picture. There is indeed too much paper loaded in the machine for it to work properly.
Then while all the comments displayed untold hilarity, we are giving the humor award to Dennis Couch for his extreme confusion and idiocy.
So a How poster print will be going to each of you two fellows.
However, since we are such nice guys, we'll be sending all who commented a set of Cranky coasters as a consolation prize. Sort of like Oprah, everyone is a winner except instead of cars you get some dusty old self-promotional junk we have lying around the shop.
I will be contacting each of you to get a mailing address.
Thanks for playing.

We have a correct answer already! Scott is correct because you cannot have a full paper feed pile AND a full delivery pile. That would really be stupid!
Congrats Scott. The funniest caption winner is still very much open so everyone keep commenting (except Scott).

Prior Planning Prevents Poor (Letterpress) Performance.
Recently Cranky Pressman was taken over for a day. It wasn't some rogue rodent but Maria Pastore our friend and good customer at Thirsty. Maria wanted to create a poster in honor of her old high school art teacher, Benjamin F. Price. Apparently Mr. Price preached the 5 P's to his students, Prior-Planning-Prevents-Poor-Performance. The Letterpress Machines.
Due out in February 2011 is the letterpress edition of Uppercase Magazine- Issue #8. Our friend Charlotte Rivers, author of the recently published The Little Book of Letterpress will be a guest writer. Plus, 50 printers, including Cranky Pressman, have submitted work so an actual letterpress piece will be loose inserted in every issue. Continue reading

Enough revelling and time to get busy.
First 10 comments tonight after midnight from each US time zone gets a calendar. When you run all this old junk and are as ancient as us you sometimes forget what year it is. The new 2011 Cranky Pressman calendar celebrates this dizzy feeling. To mark the new year (whatever it may be) we will ...
