Austin has been walking around the yard picking up feathers. A couple chicken and a duck feather here. A Guinea feather from a friend's farm. While mowing I spotted a pheasant feather in the yard and yelled to them to come and get it. A great find for a 5... Continue reading

We had these at our old house and it took my awhile to realize we could eat them. I think they sell them at farmer's markets in your area too!

We started our day with me being spoiled. I got a hammock and a big dinner bell to ring. Lots of homemade cards too. Then we took them to the park. Then we headed to a family friend's property for fishing and mushrooms. The hill goes straight up and it's... Continue reading

With a week's notice, we made hotel reservations and packed up the car. Our favorite time to take a vacation is when public school is still in session. Less crowds and cheaper hotels. We went to the Omaha Zoo and it was great. My little Wild Kratts had a blast... Continue reading

I have accumulated quite the fabric stash from Etsy and JoAnn's. With a stack of patterns and another quilt to make, I'm itching to get my sewing machine out and start creating. Oh but the yard work and schooling has to get done first, not to mention the packing for... Continue reading

Life moves fast around littles. Looks about like our days. I've been wondering, how did your first year of homeschooling go? Good enough to do it again? ;)

Yes, yours is smooshed between girls too! It's nice to get a little dose of wild once in a while:)
Yes, a canvas I agree. Going to have to see what I can do about that...

Dirty feet, chicken chores, tree climbing, trampoline jumping, tepee building, arrow shooting, full days. We create-play-repeat. And try to squeeze a little school in their inbetween. We are savoring this weather and crawling into bed exhausted from the daily dose of fresh air. We are moving into the season of... Continue reading

The first thing we did when we moved was find homeschool support. We were blessed enough to find a co-op 20 minutes from our house with about 40 kids and a great bunch of moms. I have loved watching the relationships develop and their confidence soar. {Star lab tent} The... Continue reading

This picture has been sitting in Lauren's room for a couple years. It is of her Aunt and cousin and they took the girls to a water park for a birthday present. It holds great memories for them. But I thought it needed something. Like horses. Mixed with a hot... Continue reading

At the beginning of this week my hubs gave the three kids a challenge. To built the best lego creation and daddy would pick a winner on Friday. The winner will receive their own carton of ice cream. {Stage by Alli} I'm amazed at the creations they are coming up... Continue reading

Oh, the drama of a nine year old. She got her American Girl doll, Sadie, the girl of the year. She loves horses and art, a perfect fit for my girl. With a handful of her friends coming over this weekend to celebrate, it's likely the drama will continue. Continue reading

The birds have gotten quite a bit of attention around here lately. Meat birds have an entirely different chicken chore schedule. I feel like we are doing something for them all the time. They are not like egg laying birds. Clearly they grow at alarming rates. The chicks above are... Continue reading

As a little girl Spring and Easter brought to mind baby chicks, bunnies, and ducks. Baby animal life on the farm. 75 new chicks, mostly meat birds with some rhode island reds too. We've had quite the loss for meat birds, but the reds have held strong. I love hearing... Continue reading
