International cover contest with prize!
Let's play a game! I'm going to post some international covers of my books (not Princess Academy or Book of a Thousand Days since you've already seen those). The first person who correctly guesses each book and language (language and/or country is fine) wins an ARC of Palace of Stone. In the com...
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that sheep don't shrink in the rain even though wool does." I just thought that would be funny =)
A quick note before I start writing
I'm having a contest on Twitter for the last MIDNIGHT IN AUSTENLAND ARC. Tweet your own ending to this phrase: "It is a truth universally acknowledged..." with the hashtag #Austenland. For those of you following Survivor, you know my pain! Check out the extra videos on cbs.com, especially the 3 ...
I hope ur day gets better
A little bit of heaven
Having a kind of crappy day, getting too upset about things I can't control, so I want to share with you the happiest, most precious thing I can.
I have so many stories in my head (but I've never finished writting down any of them), and if I published the one that I named "The Potion Makers", I would decitate it to my cousin, Tia; because, without her, I never would have made up that story. (She'd noticed my talent for making up stories before I did, and convinced me to make up one at our sleepover, which I told as I made it up in my mind, and she encouraged me to finish the story, even though that meant staying up late into the night - well, it was probably morning then.) Not to mention that the story was the first one that I ever atempted to write down - it was my stepping-stone to all my other stories that I love (Well, I think it's the characters that I love the most, not just the storylines).
I'm dedicated to getting you a free book!
One more day on the character name auction. If you're on Facebook, go "like" the Shannon Hale fan page (supported by Bloomsbury--no, I didn't make my own fan page, I swear). Bloomsbury will be giving away Midnight in Austenland ARCs shortly! And ongoing giveaways all year. Good stuff to come. S...

Thanks, this blog cheered me up =)
Austenland keeps me busy
It's hard finding time to write the blog. I wake up in the morning to babies and spend every moment I can with their lusciousness. Then off to set where, despite not doing anything, I feel quite busy. I get back home late, some days only to see the babies for a bit before putting them down, and ...
Please answer Katie's question!
(Not to mention that i really like the idea of you and Colin Firth dancing together at the ball =)
Thanks for your lovely posts, Shannon.
You asked for it, you got it
End of week 5 on the Austenland movie set. I can scarcely believe it. 7 weeks seemed so long. Now that I've gotten over the hump, I feel as if there is barely any time left. Some of the regular cast members only work 2 days this week and then wrap. We're that close to the end. I'll be very happy...
Thank you for your lovely post x
Comfy on the left
I've only been driving in England for 3 weeks, but I was just watching a video of someone driving a motorcycle in the US, and my first thought was, "He's on the wrong side of the street! Look out!!!" Clearly I'm used to the left now. The first few times I drove, I chanted to myself, "stay left, ...
Man! I just read how you were inspired to write Austenland. It's so funny (in a good way). it made me laugh and i just recommended it to my Mum for a second time. Lol. I've explored Stephenie Meyer's website to the limit, and now I think I'll do the same here.
There are frogs in Austenland, too
Another great day of shooting. It was raining today, so we were shooting between cloud bursts. Some new actors on set today. It was the first day I really felt as if I was in Austenland. Literally. I have arrived. Strangely, I'm finding my personal experience more like Charlotte's (from Midnight...
I'm SO excited for you and the film. i want to read Austenland - i'm a new-ish fan and haven't got the book yet, but i look forward to it!
Are you coming to England? I live here/there. Are u gonna do any signings whilst you're here, Shannon? (Hope u don't find the drop in temperare too annoying =)
The simple beauty of a perfect cast
Whew! It's so nice to be able to talk about this at last! If you're not interested in movie making or screenwriting or Austenland, then avert your eyes from this blog for the next couple of months. I will tell all that I can! I will NOT be revealing things I shouldn't, such as exact locations of...
Ha! That's the same day as my cousins birthday. Is the Secret project gonna be spilled on there any time soon? I'm really looking forward to it. =)
Everyone needs a spare goat
As this is the week of SCAPEGOAT, many of you, no doubt, are hoping for a peek into the enigma that is Dean Hale. This much we know: He is my husband He is large He co-authored Rapunzel's Revenge & Calamity Jack He is larger than you His first solo effort, the picture book SCAPEGOAT!, relea...
