A very small, but very nice, 4"x6" photo printer: the Canon Selphy CP900. The wife and I have been busy printing since we opened it up. We've been meaning to print photos taken of our 2-year-old, but never got around to it. We're not halfway through our 2-year-old backlog :)

This issue was complained about with the usual fervour the internet crowds are capable of. This thread here has more: http://www.seriouscompacts.com/f2/fyi-e-pl2-red-dot-problem-1218/
Like Mike, I'm also kind of disappointed that modern-day coatings are super competent against flare; back then we had to guard against it even in the studio, using hoods and flags and whatnot. We learnt to use it creatively.
Of course, these days, people use Photoshop to add in "creative flare". Which is nothing like the real thing and overhashed....crap.
UFOs in the Sunset
From Peter C.: "I have just started using an Olympus E-PL2 with 14–50mm standard lens. This was taken two days ago in the evening. "I'm pretty disappointed. I assure you, those red dots were not UFOs in the sky. This seems to me to be internal flare off the sensor itself, since the sensor look...
Welcome to the iPhone age, Mike. I don't use the camera function on my iPhone 4 as much as I should, but I recommend Pudding Camera, CameraBag and FilterStorm. Between these three apps, I don't need others.
Pudding Camera is a Korean app, so the language is a bit of a hurdle, but it automagically saves the photos to the default album, so you don't really need to tweak it much.
Notes from Home
Well, that was exciting—Zander (who now often spells his name "Xander") broke his wrist in two places while snowboarding. I had to go on an odyssey in the night to fetch him from the Ski Patrol hut at the local ski hill, way out in the country, where they had splinted his arm using corrugated ca...
Mike, this is spot on. I recently had an Olympus E-PL1 and Panasonic 20mm pancake lens on loan from a generous friend, and it reminded me of the fun I had shooting with the Bessa R3M + 40mm combo. It is digital, it wasn't as responsive, and the EVF felt different, but it was just as fun, and not all that different.
If anyone could step up and do it, my money would be on Mr K and Cosina, and them joining the MFT group brings hope that the format would eventually succeed as a spiritual heir to the rangefinder legacy. Which is just the way I like it of course!
A Micro 4/3 Rangefinder
As a personal comment derived from the previous post, I would like to express the hope that Mr. Kobayashi of Cosina (a great photography enthusiast himself, based on the available evidence) will one day bring to market a manual-focus optical-rangefinder camera based on the Micro 4/3 standard and...
Proper research would reveal that Ms Elliot does not need an interpreter. Is it too much to expect a detailed reading of a CV prior to issuing an invite for a conference?
MOE didn't do their homework, got caught, handled it badly, and sends the wrong message. They deserve the criticism.
Ministry of Education disinvites top American teacher
Update 2: Alex Au of Yawning Bread weighs in on this. Update 1: According to the papers, MOE has since apologised for their mistake and reinvited Susan Elliott. The Ministry of Education has a lot to explain for this fiasco. It seems that this September, the Ministry of Education is hosting a ...
