A few things: Blackwood made the Locus recommended reading list in the first novels category. Sharing company with the other people on the list (including one Mr. Rowe in novelettes!) is an honor indeed. Completely thrilled. I'm over at The... Continue reading

Hi Eric! You might be able to track down a copy of the story's original appearance in the August 2006 issue of the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction online. Failing that, it's been reprinted in English in three books which you may be able to find: Science Fiction: The Best of the Year 2007, ed. Rich Horton, Prime Books, 2007. The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror, Twentieth Annual Collection, ed. Ellen Datlow and Kelly Link & Gavin J. Grant, St. Martin’s, 2007. The Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year, ed. Jonathan Strahan, Night Shade Books, 2007.

Those of you who read this (yes, very intermittently updated) blog because you're somehow associated with the world of science fiction have almost certainly already heard about the sexual harassment incident at the recent Readercon convention and that convention's board's... Continue reading

Nifty. My story "Another Word For Map is Faith" is available as a podcast (you can also just listen to it through your browser) at the most excellent Podcastle website. Check it out, won't you? Continue reading

I'll figure out how to put this up as a permanent, linkable page or something around here sometime, but for now, since I was working it up for other reasons, here's my current bibliography for those who might be interested.... Continue reading

For what it's worth, I'm loving my NOOK Color. And the apps for Mac and PC are searchable. >Christopher: Initial Question/Comment: Is there a way to search the text of a book on my new Nook Color? For example, if... Continue reading

As announced elsewhere already, I've just sold another short story. "The Contrary Gardener," which serves as a sort of companion piece to "The Voluntary State," will be in the next volume of Jonathan Strahan's Eclipse series of anthologies. I think... Continue reading

Novelist David J. Schwartz read Sandstorm and here's what he has to say about it. Later this week, after I get a couple of major school projects out of the way, I'll be back to talk about what's unaccountably piqued... Continue reading

Truer words, and all that. ;)
There's an interview with me up today at my publisher's website (I promise that my internet life is not going to be all-Sandstorm all-the-time from here on out, it's just that kind of week). Therein, I talk about how I... Continue reading

Thanks, Steven! As I say listing you first in the book's acknowledgements, it wouldn't have been possible without your work!
Today my partner-in-life-and-crime Christopher Rowe's first novel, Sandstorm (Amazon | Indiebound), releases into the wild, as they say. Said novel also happens to be part of the Forgotten Realms universe, a Dungeons & Dragons-related property of gaming publisher Wizards of... Continue reading

An updated bibliography is an excellent idea, Edward. Need to do one for grad school applications anyhow, I guess.
Ted beat you to it, but you anticipated what I feel to be the proper course. Rather than correct the typo, I will embrace it! The atmosphere has a WILL, an alien and inhuman intelligence that is directing its efforts against me and all I hold dear! I shall combat it with science. Possibly SUPER-science if I can get hold of any.
