I just watched a YouTube of Neil Gaiman giving a commencement speech to an Arts college...and he mentioned the changing landscape of distribution at the end. So cool.
I also wanted to say that Wil, your blog attracts some of the most articulate people...and the comments are almost as interesting as the original post...as well as intelligent and educational.
an example of the usefulness of bittorrent for entirely legal purposes
I frequently find myself in an unpopular position in the entertainment industry: I believe in network neutrality, I don't believe that piracy is the end of the world as we know it (I particularly don't believe that a download or file shared automatically equals a lost sale*) and I don't believe ...
Way back in EverQuest days....my husband left his character logged in and my 3 yr old son (now 16!) got on the computer and commenced giving every piece of gear on the character to the bank guard in Halas.
Needless to say, that started a lifelong love of games for my entire family.... ;-)

Today, I'll wrap production on the latest series of audio books I've been doing. It's been ten long days, and though I genuinely adore the people I'm working with, I'll be happy when I get to the last word on the last page, because... I'm going to start work on a different and awesome project on...

I have yet to aquire Tsuro. That and I have not one but two versions of Ticket to Ride now, and I need to get zombie dice as well. It is really awesome to see these games being played through, especially since I have to watch my gaming budget carefully.
So, thank you for doing TableTop. I love it, my kids love it...keep it up :)
This is how I know #Tabletop has arrived.
I keep hearing from gameshops that people are coming in and buying the games we play on Tabletop, and from people who tell me that they're using Tabletop to show their non-gaming partners why we love to geek out over games all the time... but someone choosing to use our super lame totally aweso...
There are days I wish I was introduced to D&D when I first saw the book sitting on my Grandma's table. My Uncle was playing at the time but my parents dissapproved wholeheartedly. I was in 4th grade at the time, and had already read the entire series of Chronicles of Narnia and I was then on my second or third reading of A Wrinkle in Time...Dragons and goblins would have been just the thing to add to my multiverse! Eventually I married a guy that played D&D, Shadowrun, White Wolf, etc...and I found I completely enjoyed the worlds created. I now feel so nostalgic when I pull out my old characters and remember the group of friends that would gather to game and feast! (yeah, I cooked and they "suffered" through several experimental recipes I had)
I'm on a boat: This isn't a book; it's a time machine
I’m on JoCoCruiseCrazy 2, and I’m taking an Internet vacation until I get home. So every day while I’m gone, something from my archives will post here automatically, for your entertainment. I had a lot of fun picking these different things out, and I hope you enjoy them again, or for the first...
You have an awesome family. I love the moustaches!

Ohhh....that gave me chills! Really cool story. Thanks!
Flash Fiction: The Monster In My Closet
About two hours ago, I thought to myself, "'There's a monster in my closet' would be a neat way to start out one of those scary short stories I loved to read when I was in middle school." I wrote it down, then wrote a little more and a little more. Right around the time I realized I had no idea ...
Way late on saying congrats! I wasn't here in the beginning...a friend told me about your blog when we were talking about favorite Star Trek (all versions) episodes. I finally got to finding your blog and the first one I read was one about your sinuses. I laughed so hard that day...not because of your pain but because the way you wrote it was something that could have been discussed around my family's dinner table. That and I was having a ridiculously hard time IRL, that it just helped me out.
So, here's hoping you keep writing and speaking for another 10 years, and continue to get more awesome as you age.

So, while I'm putting together the last few things I need to take to PAX, I realized I forgot to mention something: ten years ago yesterday, I started my blog at WWdN*. Ten years ago today, Metafilter declared that it was "lame,"** and most of the Internet was really shitty to me about the whole...
This was my first ever PAX. My family just moved back up to Washington state from Arizona, and I am SO glad to be back in the land of rain and clouds ;-)
When my friend called me up and said (screamed) to buy PAX tickets...we did. When I saw you on the schedule, I looked at my husband and said "I don't care what else we do, we need to make it to Wil. He is AWESOME, and you have to come see." After much eye rolling on his part, he acquiesced to the demands of his wife. He has since agreed that your awesome hour was Awesome, and thus worth attending. :-D Of course, this same friend ended up on the expo floor while I went to the tabletop games...and...
I ended up in the D&D basement for at least half the time I was at PAX...and I rediscovered how much I miss gaming. I actually missed visiting your table since I chose to stay downstairs. I even signed up to DM next year...this should be interesting!
How was your PAX?
I'm on set for Eureka, tethering to the Internets through a mobile hotspot, using my iPad to post with the Typepad app. This is, as they say, less than optimal for blogging. However, I wanted to put a post up for PAX stuff, until I can write a proper post in the next few days. I had a wonderful ...
This almost makes me want to take up knitting/crocheting....

Seeing you receive your cape was AWESOME! I am so glad I was there :-)
