I think there are other pagination considerations, like ebooks where the 'page' concept looses their meaning, I use to read books in an endless scroll with stanza and felt comfortable with it, while the "new" ebooks apps have implemented the old page schema, even they have page look and feel. I think all kind of pagination are a technologic restriction that can be (almost) set to "deprecated" in modern interfaces.
