The Baader-Meinhof Group was another name for the Red Army Faction, one of Germany's most violent communist terror groups. It was founded in 1970 by Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin, Horst Mahler, and Ulrike Meinhof. I still think Blue Buick Syndrome is a better name though...

I always heard of it as Blue Buick Syndrome... or you could call it Red Neon Syndrome, or Green Escort Syndrome... It's not just the color that triggers it, it's the model too... we look for the familiar, and fairly often, we find it...

Congratulations! Though I feel compelled to add a caveat: Thrilled as I am by the return of Ev(W)il, because he's frickin hilarious, as a writer, I am a bit troubled by the concept, from a storytelling perspective, of creating a nemesis for the Antagonist character rather than for the Protagonist character, which any viewing of the show will demonstrate to be Leonard, with Sheldon as the Ant.. Any thoughts on this?

And while Gevmage is correct that Shroedinger's cat is an illustration of quantum physics using a broader analogy, it is not a macroscopic expansion, as the deciding or acting factor is usually described as the movement of a quantum particle (which, of course, is impossible to measure, therefore rendering it a thought exercise). Shroedinger's cat is used to illustrate the concept of superposition, which is counter to the Multiverse or Many Worlds theory.

Part of the problem is the way math is taught- by rote. One plus one is two, two plus two is four, five minus two is three, three times four is BORED ALREADY! Very seldom do teachers use practical applications of mathematical principles to illustrate both the methodology and usefulness of the particular principles being demonstrated. This is one reason that so many children have trouble with fractions, for example, and how to add and subtract them (not to mention multiply and divide)-- yet many of these same children would INSTINCTIVELY know they were getting screwed over if their sibling got 3/8th's of a pizza and they only got 1/4th...

Um, sorry to hijack your thread Wil, but dude... SERIOUSLY? And yet Spock seemed so indifferent to it all. Hmmm. Do Vulcans take Zoloft? HELLO? Vulcans don't believe in showing emotions!! SWEET JESUS ON A CROSS, how can you quote ST:TOS and NOT know this?

A. Shouldn't #6 be #1 in GIANT FLASHING LETTERS?? B. Part of the problem there is the inherently inferior English orthography we have inherited from our ancestors... we need a Committee to Reform English Orthography (Yes, I appreciate the irony of creating a Spanish acronym with English words.) to make English spelling rules more phonetic and rigidly enforced... When people can speak coherently and still be unable to SPELL words that they know and can use, it means the spelling system is BROKEN!

Um, 1. I can totally hear Burns saying that title. Now it's going to be stuck in my head all day. THANKS ALOT, HWEATON! And 2. WHY oh WHY did you have to have your ep on one of the few Mondays when I have to work an evening shift??! Please tell me that BBT is one of the CBS shows that you can LEGALLY watch on the tubes, via their website or Hulu, or something (something LEGAL that is).

So I haven't seen the new one yet, but the big problem that I had with the first was that they both disanthropomorphized the robots AND decentralized them... Now, I'm not against either concept, per se, but when you combine them, it means that you don't spend enough time introducing characters that we don't recognize anymore, and so we don't really know or care what's happening in the big fight scenes, for example- or at all, really... Also, the main villians aren't very well explained, so the Decepticons don't really make that much sense...

In fact, Wil, file that under "Things I Learned From D&D": Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses- It's important to learn these, so that you can kill them more efficiently. (Wait, I think that last part might be a US Military addendum...)

Speaking of Stand By Me, do you know that AMC has played it at least two times in the last couple of weeks? It's funny to watch the scenes in town and go, "Hello, Brownsville!" Every time I recognize a different shot... It's like, "Oh, they shot THAT one in town too!" (I grew up in the next town over from Brownsville, Lebanon...

um, Mary Sue(The Orginal)? You can't spoil something that SUCKS!! That's just called kindness... Maybe if AVP wasn't such a BAG OF BOILED CRAP ON A STICK W/CINNAMON ON TOP, you could consider it spoiled... And AVP: Requiem? EVEN WORSE! As for BSG, this is when it would be nice to have the soapbox back... (hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge... Wheaton X is coming? Yes? PLEASE? WW9 is OLD!) Then you could have different forums for different viewing levels, and spoilage warnings, enter-at-own risks discussions, etc... Otherwise, trying to talk about new ep's looks like this (****= REDACTED SPOILER): I just can't believe that **** is the ****... that is lamer than **** being thrown out of the airlock by ****. It's worse than when **** shot **** in the head after we discovered that Earth is ****. The real question is, though, what the frak is ****? We just saw **** bury **** own **** on ****, right? What the FRAK!!! About the only good thing was seeing **** and **** get **** after the ****, and hearing the **** get on the **** after her **** and tell the **** that she was coming after them when she though that they had killed ****.
