I actually have noticed a few of the same things about the ring sizes as I've been looking for a thumb ring as well. I purchased this set (http://s.jtv.com/b1R) in a size 8 (I think I have pretty "average" sized fingers) and love wearing one on my thumb and the other two stacked on my middle finger. I just love how versatile they are!
