Things got heated and Peter got kidnapped by thugs and interrogated by the mafia. Peter handled himself beautifully. He didn't defend himself and got released! Continue reading

In my journey today I experienced the same kind of amazement (and fear) the crowd experienced. I've ignorantly killed the Spirit of God in my life and in the life of others. I'm painfully aware of my own need for healing and the need for healing in the life of those around me. Continue reading

What strikes me today on my journey is most preachers I've heard over the years leave out part of the Gospel, a part that that the apostle Peter included and preached emphatically. They preach repentance & forgiveness in Jesus Christ; but they omit the promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit, ...which Peter went on and on and on about! Continue reading

Mount of Olives: So I'm resuming blogging about my 52 Day Pilgrimage through Luke & Acts. No, Jesus doesn't moon the disciples in the first chapter of Acts. He's actually quite modest (see last paragraphs to hear about His "two butts"). The 24 days I've spent exploring the spiritual landscape... Continue reading

What strikes me today is the way Jesus chose to feed two of his disciples and the profound cases of spiritual heartburn He caused! (warning: recipe included) Continue reading

I'm rethinking the importance of how I die. Not just for myself; but also for the people around me. It will impact them one way or another. How I die will become part of my legacy. Continue reading

Passover is about thanksgiving. Eucharist means thanksgiving. God is all about instituting traditions that cause us to remember and give thanks for His salvation. Continue reading

Jesus dips himself daily into the cauldron of religious, social, and political turmoil; but, Jesus extricates himself daily, too. The intentional daily rhythms of Jesus life are exposed in Luke 21: 37,38, ...and they expose my current lack of (wise) rhythms. Continue reading

Religious rightists and leftists are fools. Centrists are the wise ones. Why? Because they ask, "Who's in the center?" Jesus is a centrist. Continue reading

Jesus is preoccupied with finding lost entities. That makes him a detective, a salvager, and a rescuer (and the prodigal son a misnomer) Continue reading

Day #13 - Somewhere in Galilee: What strikes me today is Jesus' revolutionary nomenclature. He asks piercing questions. He asks others what the Kingdom is like. He pitches compelling metaphors. He says it's organic and grows like big tree would from a small seed. Compelling. Captivating. Esponential organic nomenclature... Oh,... Continue reading

Day #11 > Town of Bethany: What strikes me today is we really don't know exactly how Jesus prayed. We can conjecture a few things: 1) Once Jesus began travelling, he had to pray without the privacy of his own bedroom, 2) He was prone to interruption, and 3) He... Continue reading

Day #9 > The Town of Bethsaida: What strikes me today is when Jesus takes his disciples away for a private retreat, ...an elephant in the room gets exposed. There's lots of public debate about who Jesus is. When Jesus asks his disciples to weigh in on the topic, one... Continue reading

Day #8 > The Region of Galilee: What strikes me today is Jesus' mom & brothers were disciples, too. Back in that day, if you really wanted to be someones disciple, you had to literally follow them physically, ...wherever they went. Unfortunately, on this occasion, mom and brothers go out... Day #7 > Town of Nain: What strikes me today is Jesus parades into this city with a large crowd of followers and run smack into another parade headed in the opposite direction, ...the contrasts couldn't be more distinct: A healthy, vibrant, young, single man running into a broken, mourning...
