I've not played it yet, but I've heard many reviews say that the 2nd edition of Descent that just released goes a long way to fix the problems you listed. I'm certainly gonna check it out :)
Can't wait to see you at GenCon this year.
Is it really only 2 days until GenCon? Yes. Yes it is.
On Wednesday, I'm heading to GenCon in Indianapolis. I had a great time when I was there before, and I'm looking forward to attending this year. Here's what you need to know, from GenCon: Wil will be signing autographs in the Autograph Area of the Exhibit Hall, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mo...
I have G+ account and have tried it both logged in and out from google, and still only see the old Like button. I'm wondering if they're rolling the change out to certain areas first, to gauge response.
Google is making a huge and annoying mistake.
I like Google Plus. Some of the smartest people I've ever read are on Google Plus, and the Hangout is amazing. But Google is doing everything it can to force Google Plus on everyone, and it's pissing me off. Yesterday, I tried to like a video on YouTube. I wasn't signed in to my Google Plus acco...
Oh, and I see TypePad "corrected" my Cha0s with a zero "typo" :)

Wil, my shop just got in the Leverage Roleplaying game book. Colin "Cha0s" Mason is featured on page 147, joining Jim Sterling as "Significant Foils". Can't wait to play this system.

Wil,
It was amazing getting to talk to you, and we had great seats for your panel. We had a blast talking to you, and the guy behind us got a ton of great pictures for us. It was an honor to buy you a beer, even if it had to be delivered in an unusual way. Hope you enjoyed it.
We're glad you enjoyed the convention. It was a great honeymoon. :) Jamie had a blast, and meeting you and sitting in on Chris Perkins's celebrity D&D were the highlights for us both.
i have the heart of a dragon (no, really, i do)
Home from GenCon. Happily exhausted. I killed a dragon with one hit. Now, it's time to sleep for two days.
I thought of that. We made several trips by, just to see how you were holding up. Ok, maybe it was more cause of the crush my fiance has on you :) You definitely need to spend at least one day just gaming your heart out. Your fans will understand.

I can now say I bought Wil Wheaton a beer. I am very pleased by this. It was great meeting you today. Hope you're having a wonderful con!
Game on: GenCon info, chapbooks, and dice. Lots and lots of dice.
I leave for GenCon in about 3d12 hours. While I'm not thrilled about getting up at 4am on Thursday, knowing that the reward for dragging myself out of bed at areyoufuckingserious o'clock is three days of gaming and geeking makes it all worthwhile. I'm blessing dice, taking pictures, and signing ...
Fiance and I are bringing you dice :) When will you be available? We definitely want to pick up a Chapbook.

The show's not QUITE over, but *WOW*. We're loving The Wheaton Recurrence. So wonderfully evil.
The Wheaton Recurrence
It's Sunday afternoon as I write this. I can't publish this manually, because if I've read my call sheet correctly, I'm currently playing Dr. Isaac Parrish on Eureka. If we're on schedule, I'm working in a scene with Erica, Colin, and Neil. If my experience on the show so far is any indication, ...
I'm glad to hear you got the AD&D books again. Did you manage to get the old artwork books, or the orange binding versions (Well, I know Deities and Demigods and Fiend Folio are original art)
Also, you mentioned that Ep22 may be the first time you've run an old commercial for an existing product. I *believe* Eveready Batteries (for longer, longer, longer life) are still being made :)
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Twenty-Two
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! I had a ridiculously good time putting this show together, even though I didn't plan any of the stuff that ended up being so fun to create. Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked that I not link to his "...
Wil,
I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but since this one was delayed from last week, does that mean the one you're doing with Yuri will be next week, and is that still happening?

By the way, I'm definitely interested in a Dancing Barefoot Audiobook :) Even if it's just to hear you read the entire Vegaspants story.
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Twenty-one
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! I must say, I'm pretty proud of my ability to get this one out on time. If I keep this up, I may have to remove the phrase "infrequently updated" from the show's description. Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc,...
Good timing! I was a few hours away from posting a reminder about getting with Yuri and Tara about doing a podcast about voice acting. :) I'd had a reminder set on my phone since early December.
Haven't finished the podcast, but will when I drive home from work. Love it when you talk about games. We picked up Pandemic and the expansion shortly after you posted about it, and we're loving that.

The Green Grass and High Tide story was one of first that I read as a follower of WWdN:iX. It also coincided with us (my fiance and I) having just recently gotten into the Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchise. It's easily one of the things that kept me coming back.
Your podcast travels with me on my 20 minute each way commute each day. Every week my library of available material increases :)

I wouldn't call it Fan Fiction. I would be all for more Aeofel stories. I'll have to go look for the SG articles.
From the Vault: a convenient literary metaphor
This was originally written in 2003, after I'd published Dancing Barefoot , and was still working on Just A Geek. At the time, I wasn't sure if I was a writer, an actor, or some combination of the two, though I was trying very hard to convince myself (and the Voice of Self Doubt) that I was just...
I've been consistently impressed with your narrative non-fiction. Though I've not been exposed to much of your fiction, yet, I look forward to reading more of it.
Speaking of which,
Have you considered releasing Aeofel's backstory as a piece of fiction?

I would be interested in both the Dancing Barefoot and Memories of the Future Audiobooks, in whatever format. Your podcasts have been my commute companion for a few months now, and I've listened to them all multiple times. Any new material is ALWAYS welcome :)
In which the audio versions of Happiest Days and Just A Geek get a new home
I've had such a great experience using Lulu to sell Sunken Treasure and Memories of the Future, Volume One, I have decided to start out 2010 by moving the audio versions of The Happiest Days of Our Lives and Just A Geek to Lulu. It made a lot of sense to me to keep all of my self-published work ...
This is going to cause me to go back and read the whole year again. I just know it.
the 2009 year in review, part one
The first time I did one of these posts in 2006, it was to secretly collect material I was thinking about including in The Happiest Days of Our Lives. It ended up being a lot of fun to look back at the whole year, though, and it created a nice introduction to my writing (which is one of those th...
Would help if I'd finish my thought :)
In subsequent podcasts, you seemed a lot more upbeat. I'm glad that 2006 seems to have turned around for you. :)
From the Vault: maybe you can just enjoy the tour
While looking for something entirely-unrelated, I came across this old post from 2006. I read the entire post that it's excerpted from on Radio Free Burrito 17, but this part made me smile, so it gets its own spot right here on my bloggy-blog-blog:Though I've been there for several auditions, I ...
Out of curiosity, roughly when in 2006 was this? I listened to the reading of this on RFB, and it made me think of one of the old episodes of RFB (6 or 7, back when you were trying a 10 minute a day experiment). You lamented how unhappy you were with the state of things, your writing, your site, etc.

I just placed my order. After receiving and reading both Sunken Treasure and Just a Geek within a few days around Christmas, I've been ordered to get both Dancing Barefoot and The Happiest Days of Our Lives... So I'd better get this one while I can. Wish I could afford the Lettered version, but I'll be perfectly happy with signed.
Wil: Sunday became a Wil Wheaton marathon yesterday. I read Sunken treasures to my fiance on our drive home after the holidays, then when we got home, we watched your Criminal Minds episode, CSI episode, and Family Guy episode :)
a couple of book-related things
Memories of the Future got a nice write up in the Toledo Free Press: There’s one thing that Wil Wheaton wants to make very clear: “Memories of the Future” is not, repeat, NOT a “tell-all” book about his time working on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” “It was extraordinarily important to me t...
My decision was made for me. I also got Just A Geek for Christmas. I finished it at about 8pm :). It answered a lot of questions I had, having really only seen you from 2006 forward. A wonderful book. While RFB and Acq Inc took us on a 5 hour drive here, my two new books will accompany us back. I don't perform your stuff as well as you do, but I'll do my best.
the twelve days of pirate christmas
Reader Brian B. sent me this yesterday, and it made me smile so much, I secured permission to share it. "The Twelve Days of Pirate Christmas" On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ... 12 ships to plunder, 11 cannons firing, 10 crewmen leaping, 9 sharks a' swimming, 8 rum-...
Wil,
I got Sunken Treasure for Christmas yesterday. Really loving it. Can't wait to work my way back through the rest of your works. :) I still can't decide if I want the dead tree or dead electron version of Just a Geek, though. Does anyone have a recommendation for me?
Radio Free Burrito and the Acquisitions Inc. podcasts will be accompanying us on our 5 hour drive to and from my fiance's family today and Sunday. Thanks for everything :)

That sounds like the kind of thing I'd like to do next christmas. Just, do something together, rather than buy a bunch of junk for people. I never manage to get more than 3 days in a row off, though. *sigh*
From the Vault: surrounded by the joy of the season
In December of 2001, Anne I were really struggling financially. It had already been a pretty lousy year, as far as work went, and after September 11th, things only got worse. As Christmas got closer, it was clear that we simply couldn't afford to put many things under the tree for our kids, let...
I emailed you a while ago, recommending you change your "Read My Books" links to more accessible versions, but it was while your computer was in the shop.
From the Vault: The Fires of Mordor
Yesterday, I decided that I'd reach into The Vault a few times this week, and reprint some holiday-related posts. While I combed through the WWdN archives, I came across this post, which I haven't thought about pretty much since I wrote it. It has nothing to do with the holidays, but I still li...
