There are indeed many tools that can be used for many different purposes. Here are some useful and popular tools that do NOT appear to OCR image files: Index Engines, CommVault, and Mimosa NearPoint. Here are some that do appear to OCR image files: ZyLab, Clearwell, and AccessData ECA. Of course software features and functionalities change all the time, always check with the software publisher to determine if this information is accurate for the version of the software you plan on using. One other observation is that general search software may or may not locate records that are contained within databases, it may be unsafe to rely on general search software for search beyond loose files or email. -Jeff Johnson
