Woah! 2006, has it been that long...?
Oh, forgot this in last post.
This post brought to you my the letter "I" and the number "3".
This is really obnoxious, TypePad
Oh, hey, look! It's time for another ranty rant about the Internet. I swear to FSM, I've become Grandpa Simpson. When TypePad was bought by an advertising company, we all knew the clock was ticking, and it would eventually be time to start looking for an alternative. To be honest, I'm surprised ...
Get off my Internet!
Well, just over 15 years ago I told my friends making the Internet public was a bad idea and it was all going down hill. It wasn't going to be the mindless ramblings of the public, get that IRL, but the corporate interests that could corrupt it. Ads everywhere, content control, etc.
This is why I host my own site.

Hey, look at that. Your Geek is showing.
Did the same myself.
OMG, Portal Gun Rattle!
The Force Will Be With Him...
My nephew will be joining Team Humans sometime in July, so today we're having a baby shower for my little sister (who, at 33, isn't little, bit if you're a big brother or sister, you know what I mean.) My brother in law is awesome, even though he's Dallas Cowboys SuperFan Number One Top Guy Fore...
Please do tell about this rattle.... I have friends spawning and must do my best to corrupt their offspring.

I did the same with my nephew, now six years old. Only I included the "I void warranties!" shirt in my Thinkgeek shopping. Seemed fitting.

Thanks for the incite. oh, watch out for that whale!
the obligatory post-audition reflections
The directions to my audition were simple: two freeways, one off-ramp, two left turns. In practice, finding a parking spot and making my way into the actual waiting room were slightly less complicated than getting The Babelfish (kids, ask your parents), so I actually walked into the room for my ...
and they learned that pissing off a blogger is not the best kind of PR for them.
Please stand by for a demonstration of relevancy (or: how to utterly fail at Public Relations)
A lot of you know that I absolutely love Jenny Lawson, The Bloggess. I love her so much, I gave her a picture of me collating paper to send to PR idiots who spam her with stupid product pitches. Jenny makes me furiously happy, so when I read on her blog last night that a PR douchebag called her...
A Pubbrew Arcade! 110% Awesome.
I'll be starting an apple mead (Cyser) soon, myself.
The Poet and the Painter casting shadows on the water
Beer stuff! I wanted to make Jaime Paglia an oatmeal stout, because that's his favorite. When I went to the shop to get supplies, though, Greg (who owns it) told me that you really have to do a partial mash or all-grain to get it just right. I'm not quite ready for that, yet, so I went with my b...
I was always disappointed that Wesley never hooked up with any of the hot chicks when the opportunities presented.
I am easily amused
So io9 did this thing called the 10 Suckiest Fake Video Games That People Play In Science Fiction. Spoiler Alert: The Game from, uh, The Game is number one. 1) Suckdisk from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Actually, we don’t remember this game having an actual name on the show, but “suckdisk” f...
Dick move on the part of the network formerly known as SciFi for the notification of the cast and crew.
Saying goodbye to Eureka
Last year, my friend Amy told me she was moving from writing Leverage to writing Eureka. She asked me if I was interested in playing a scientist who was kind of a jerk. I said "yes" as fast as I could, and ended up playing Doctor Isaac Parrish for seven of the ten episodes in season 4.5. When se...
Chainsaw! Problem solved....
At least there was not a Cat Shit One reference.
this is really gross. you have been warned.
There is a tree near my house, that has probably been there for years, just doing its tree thing, watching patiently as families come and go, empires rise and fall, and Isengard is flooded. I'm sure it's a beautiful tree, cheerfully trading carbon dioxide for oxygen, providing shade, and most li...
Neat. Looking into Child's Play!
all dressed up with nowhere to go
The audiobook I performed last week is called Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline. I don't know how many of you reading this today were around in the old days of WWdN (lots, I hope!), but if you were, you may remember when I linked to Ernie's spoken world on Fark. Ernie told me in an e-mail that h...
Damn, Here I was bitching about UPS today! Recieved my 24" Samsung monitor back from warranty repair. Three days from very Northern NJ to very Northern NY. Sat just at a their facility just North of Albany for a day. Which is odd. I order stuff from Newegg that gets shipped out of Edison,NJ and it is here two.
Anyway, waited all day. The one moment I step out they show up. Thankfully someone else was home as it was pour cats dogs out. Last time I got a package via UPS in weather like this they didn't even knock. Found soaked package a few hours later. The monitor was shipping in its original box. Which not looks like it was kicked here. Has a hole large enought to put my fist though. The original formed foam packing is all cracked or broken in places. Must have arrive at the service center abit worse for wear too. As a rip in the side of the box is taped as well at the foam packing in a couple of places.
Thankfully, the monitor is unharmed and works.
I've been having better luck with FedEx. They actually pull in my drive way, knock a few times and wait for answer.
UPS shipping fail - updated (see end of post)
I shipped two boxes of books to Phoenix on Wednesday, to arrive here by 1030 this morning. I paid extra for this, like you do. As 11am rolled around and my books still weren't here, I got a little nervous, so I checked online to see where my packages were. It turns out UPS fucked up and "incorre...
Heh. It's in the 40's and raining here on the East Coast too. Welcome to Spring in the Northern Climbs. Watch out for snow...
Must meet this Anne. She's obviously a saint.
Tomorrow, I go back to Eureka
“What’s the forecast for Vancouver?” Anne asked. “It’s in the 40s and raining,” I said. “Oh, that sounds awesome,” she said, in a tone of voice that indicated the opposite was actually true. “It’s okay,” I said, “I have my scarf and my jacket and my warm hat.” As I listed each of these items, ...

in which a good person is kind
My son Ryan was home from college all week for Spring Break, and I kept expecting him to grab one of my logged-into-Twitter devices to tell the world how awesome I think he is. (I pretend to get all mad, but I secretly love it when he does this.) Today, he went back to school, and I went out to ...
Minis?
I'll just be glad when my old group gets together in a couple of weeks which will hopefully be back to our weekly D&D adventures.
A weekend of gaming, from Cal & D to Power Grid
Saturday, I got together with Cal, Martin and Steve so we could finish our now-epic one-shot of Cal & D. The plan was to start at 10, because Martin had a family commitment that we all decided (despite his disagreement, which was wrong) that wasn't nearly as important as crawling the dungeon and...
For all you know they probably warship the Old Ones. You thought they were just haveing dinner parties, didn't you?
Short Fiction: 239 Sycamore St.
While walking through my neighborhood yesterday, I wondered what actually went on behind those manicured lawns and drawn curtains. I wondered how much I really knew my neighbors. This is what my brain spat out: Ian missed living in a city that didn’t keep any secrets from him, where everything ...
Your wife dresses you funny...
The Best Chaos Elf, EVER.
Marc Roskin took this picture of me when we were filming LEVERAGE. It's sort of spoilery, I guess, but it's too hilarious not to share. I'm not sure when this episode airs, The Ho Ho Ho Job airs December 12 on TNT, and I am sure you're going to love it.
Yes, Yes you are.
more stupid cell phone videos and the return of evil wil wheaton
In a couple hours, I'll be on my way back to Los Angeles for a few days, so I can work on The Big Bang Theory. I obviously can't say anything about the episode, but I got the script last night, and it's just hilarious. I can't wait to see my friends there again, and bring a little Evil Wil Wheat...
We all get bated by a troll at times. Sometime the troll eats us.
in which wil goes HULK SMASH
Last night, I was supposed to perform in the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo with a bunch of my friends, and a bunch of people who I really admire. Unfortunately, the sinus infection I was fighting all week had other plans, so I stayed home and rested on the couch with a screening of Repo Man....
My take was that they are pissed because you were pissed that they did not stand up for you or try to resolve the gamerdad issue. Instead of out right attacking you, they just minimize and belittle you advocacy in an passive aggressive obtuse way. Which is just a way for those who think they have the moral high ground to make their opponent look like a raging dick. When it is in fact them.

random thoughts from vancouver
I have a late call today, so I have some time to write. Yaaaaay. Here's a few things that have been on my mind in the last, oh, 36 hours or so. So that silly thing Paul and Storm and Adam and I did sort of took off, didn't it? I'm thrilled that so many people found it as entertaining and amusing...

Facebook places, ah, that's what has been popping up on my feed telling where my friends are. Really don't need to know just how many times my friend visits Starbucks.
On the content issue. I see why Canada would do that. Not wanting their culture over run by the American Culture Juggernaut. Same for the English. Though you'd thing they would share their culture with the world, but no. Thankfully, I live on the border. Really, I can see Canada from here. Just South of Ottawa. Also, means I can't watch Dr. Who till months after it originally aired, been recorded at homes all over the UK, and then fileshared with the World. Curse you BBC!
I, also, just don't get the logic.
Though this Fiasco thing look interesting. Like I need yet another game.
Curse you Wil Wheaton!!!
