To expand a little on your network meme: globally and in the US, the lack of intentional inter-generational mentorship and economic investment in the youth both in individual congregations and denominational manifestations, I feel, is a leading contributor to the "None" phenomenon - because congregations are failing to meet the true and real economic needs of young would-be workers once bolstered by unions, civic clubs, rural family clans, guilds, apprenticeships, etc. I think one of the opportunities that seminaries have missed out on is the possible synergy between business schools (cranking out MBAs) and schools of divinity (cranking out MDivs) to meet the needs of the millennial work force by synthesizing the protestant #TheologyOfWork and the growth of entrepreneurship centers and networks. We often used to have "Campus Ministries" but I've heard of no chaplaincies to entrepreneurial centers -- or classes which prepare either MBAs or MDivs to target this need. #realeconomick #realtheologick

Bob: FYI From: Mark Little Subject: Announcing Cloud related meeting in March. Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2011 14:39:29 +0000 To: tc@omg.org, mars@omg.org, cloud@omg.org X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.68 on 10.5.11.23 Hi. I'd like to announce that at the next OMG Techncual Meeting (21-25 March near Washington DC, USA) we will be having a Cloud-related meeting to restart the efforts begun months ago. I will be acting chair for now and would like to encourage anyone interested in Cloud and how the OMG might be relevant in this space, to come along to the meeting. We are essentially starting from scratch again, so the goal of this initial meeting is to determine membership interest as well as gather ideas and brainstorm around a number of options concerning the roles that the OMG could play. The idea of language neutral standards in the Cloud is critical, particularly given the fact that some standards will undoubtedly be driven through organisations that concentrate on a single language, such as Java. As an industry, whatever we do needs to be coordinated across these various bodies or we risk weakening the benefits that standardisation can bring. The OMG can play a leadership role in this area. The meeting will be held on Monday 21st of March at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel, Arlington, VA, USA. Details of the overall Techncial Meeting are here: http://www.omg.org/news/meetings/tc/va/info.htm I'd also encourage anyone interested to sign up to the OMG cloud mailing list (cloud@omg.org) by sending email to request@omg.org.
