I was great to see you again Wil. Also super great to finally get to meet (and sell merch) with your wife, that was pretty awesome. Here is hoping you can set aside the time and funds to go to PAX East, otherwise, likely see you again at PAX Prime.

the obligatory w00tstock post
Everything I could possibly say about w00tstock has already been said by Paul and Storm, who made a lovely list, and Molly, who made a comic that captures exactly how I felt the whole time we did our shows. I loved feeling the terror and exhilaration of trying something totally new (The Trade, w...
Wil:
Just wanted to say it was great running past you every time I was out on shift and an access point decided it didn't want to serve internet to all the deserving folks at PAX. You had a wonderful panel, I really wish that I had the ability to be in two places at once, when I got back to the Ops office following your panel Maradine and Tetujin told me you had stopped by on your way up to the panel...would have loved to have been there. Oh well...getting to see your panel will have to do. Can't wait for w00tstock SF, see you there.

in which a proclamation is made
I seem to have come down with some kind of post-PAX flu. It's not the Swine Flu, but I am coughing so much even I have grown tired of saying "my god, it's full of stars." I can't really focus long enough to write the PAX post I want to write (it's at about 30% completion, I guess) so please allo...
PAX is only a week away...god that's frightening...at least I get time off of my Enforcer duties to see your panel. Also...great show tonight, as an ex-Gentoo developer I always get a kick out of faked *nix systems on TV shows.
Leverage - The Two Live Crew Job
Early feedback from tonight's episode of Leverage is overwhelmingly positive, which delights me. I'm so happy to hear that so many people liked it. If you've seen the show already, you may get a kick out of the pictures I took during production and just added to Flickr, but there are spoilers, s...
And here I thought we had all learned all you need is your towel and your thumb.
wil wheaton vs. text 2 speech
There's quite a dustup at the moment about an editorial the president of the Author's Guild wrote in the New York Times, railing against Amazon's Kindle 2, which has a text to speech feature that he claims creates unauthorized derivative works and should be stopped at all costs. I'm not the only...
I think the following post from Neil proves the most poignant to me. Just on the merits of making books accessible to others the Kindle's text2speech is a winner in my book. If you haven't read the post, read it, internalize it, and make your own call.

Thanks...
Now I just have to decided if the Subterranean Press version of Happiest Days needs to be added to the copy I got from you at the same time...
Stop re-releasing things in a shinier format! Shiny things attract my eyes...much like a cat in that respect...
In any event, would be happy to post a review of the Sunken Treasure I do own, would Lulu be the right location?
WIRED Review: "Sunken Treasure is full of gems"
Sunken Treasure got a really nice review from Geekdad: Wil Wheaton came up with just the right word to describe his new book, Sunken Treasure. The subtitle is Wil Wheaton's Hot Cocoa Box Sampler, and sampler is an excellent metaphor for what this small, sumptuous snack represents. This is a var...
Wil:
So here's a question...
I own #11 of the original Lo-Fi version of Sunken Treasure which I picked up in San Jose last year. What is new in this version outside of the more Hi-Fi-ness of it? My compulsive need to own the complete works of all authors I respect wants to know (a). if I should purchase another copy and (b). if not if a review of my Lo-Fi version would still be applicable.
Thanks,

Now you just need to get someone to do an evil, yet awesome, black velvet representation of that photo and the circle of evil will be complete!!!
this is probably the closest i'll ever come to having something in common with stephen colbert
Operation Crazy Awesome Idea is nearing the "Time to find out if this is crazy awesome or just crazy," moment of truth, so that's where I'm sort of living at the moment. I also have a writing deadline in two hours, so I'm trying not to run around my office waving my hands over my head and scream...
How interesting that you have a Life Beyond Wesley panel considering you aren't quite beyond him yet...
Matter of fact he's competing directly with you in the second bracket of Paul and Storm's Geek Madness: The Battle For Secretary of Geek Afairs.

Yes, you read that right, you beat Bruce Campbell and Wesley beat Dilton Doiley..so who want to place bets on who's going to make it to the Geek 16, Wesley or Wil?
Voting in the 2nd round of the Jor-El Region begins Sunday, January 25th at 7PM EST. Vote early and good luck Wil.
wil's 2009 phoenix comicon schedule
Totally unrelated to this post: I'm in today's Dork Tower. It's part of the hilarious Tao of Igor series, and it made me giggle. As promised, here's my schedule for the Phoenix Comicon. If this is your first time at a con, and you don't know what to expect, you should read what John Scalzi said ...
A slightly off topic comment...
I am not a writer, what draws me to Wil's blog has always been the more techie side of things. As a linux developer it is what I am drawn to.
That being said, I think the comments in response to this post are among the most awesome of any I have read on any blog...almost inspires me to write something down...
bustin up my brains for the words
Did I mention that I'm writing a full-on science fiction novella that may even grow into a novel? It's a noir kinda thing, set in a dystopian future Los Angeles. (It's not Blade Runner. That's the first thing people think when I say it, but I'm keenly aware of that, and I've taken the appropriat...
Wil:
Was great meeting you today. Always good chatting with someone who feels as passionately about open source as I do. Keep up the great work, and keep it Creative Commons!

Geek Tour 2008: San Jose Super-Con - Updated
This weekend, the 2008 Geek Tour rolls into San Jose for Super-Con! Original Announcement: May 17-18 Super-Con San Jose, CA When I worked on NUMB3RS, I met the guys in charge of Super-Con in San Jose. In fact, they were a big part of making Alt Con 9 (the fake con in the show) look and feel as r...
Wil:
What are your plans for Super-Con? Doing a reading or just signing and such? Will certainly come by to get something signed though...looking forward to it.
did i mention that i'll be in seattle this weekend?
Wil Wheaton's Geek Tour 2008 rolls into Seattle this weekend for the Emerald City ComiCon! From my original announcement: I am so excited to announce that I'll be going to Seattle next month for the Emerald City ComiCon! This is an awesome show, with a focus fucos on indie books and publishers. ...
