Things every person should have
Things every person should have: A nemesis. An evil twin. A secret headquarters. An escape hatch. A partner in crime. A secret identity. What else?
I have already begun to teach my five-year-old son the mantra, "don't be a wiener." I, however, have trouble following that advice at times. Thanks for setting a good example, Will.
"There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind."
The list of Stuff I Need to Write About just keeps getting bigger and bigger ... so instead of trying to tackle it right now, I give you this, from my Twittersbox a little bit ago: When you're fortunate enough to have success and love what you do, you have a choice: Be kind and grateful, or be ...
I have been hankering for some fresh burrito, but take your time. I prefer quality over quantity.
Video of my reading from PAX Prime: Triple Word Score
While browsing Reddit during my morning coffee, I came across this: I remember how much I liked writing this story for LA Daily, but until GenCon, I'd never read it in public. Both times I've read it, though, it's gone over very well, so I'll probably add it - at least temporarily - to my pe...
I am so familiar with this phenomenon, but the game is Gin Rummy not Scrabble. I can play a multitude of complex and challenging card games, but she knocks the stuffing out of me every time when we play Gin Rummy. Either she is some sort of savant or I have a blind spot in my brain when it comes to that particular game.

Dude, you spend so much time being a non-dick that you have endured some 'me-time'. Have fun and know that we all appreciate everything you do to nurture the geek community. Anyone who has a problem with it is being a dick, which we all know is anti-Wheatonian. So there you have it.
My 2010 PAX Prime Schedule
When I was at GenCon last month, I signed autographs and stuff for close to six hours a day. I got to meet a lot of people (and took home about ten pounds of dice!) but I hardly got to see any of the con, and I got to play a grand total of three games while I was there. I’ve been working my ass ...
Dragonfish maybe. No way to kill a dragon with one hit...unless it is a nuke. ;-)
Anyway, how many dice did you get?
i have the heart of a dragon (no, really, i do)
Home from GenCon. Happily exhausted. I killed a dragon with one hit. Now, it's time to sleep for two days.
Ugh! I wish I was going to Gen Con. I have only been to three of them, all back in the 90's. Life is conspiring to keep me away from the new venue (is Indy still considered a new venue?)
I'll have to satiate myself with teaching my 13 year old nephew D&D. We have had one session so far and I think I have him hooked.
My own son is only four and despite my protestations to the contrary, my wife refuses to let me teach him D&D yet. I guess he should be able to read first. Well, don't worry. Although I am not teaching him the game yet, I have been installing the wiring since birth, so when the time comes all I will have to do is throw the switch.
Game On!
From the Vault: there is more than one thing that makes us who we are
I'm bringing a limited-edition chapbook of gaming stories to GenCon, so Andrew and I have been digging through old entries and columns to put it together. This weekend he found and sent me the following old post, with the note: "Nothing to do with gaming, but it's REALLY short and I think we cou...
Is that Wil, or Gerard Butler.
"as his kilt rises..."
I think this is one of those rare things that can be equally enjoyed* by those who have context, and those who don't. *for very disturbing values of 'enjoyed'
I'd buy one. We need to support our geek artists.
anyone interested in a short fiction collection?
I have a question for everyone who reads my blog: if I put some short stories I'd written together into a little collection and sold it at Lulu, would you be interested? I ask this because I collected a few short stories into a limited edition chapbook for last year's PAX Prime, and it's been si...
