"under pat, has any draft pick after #10 panned out?"
this question obviously excludes Beasley (2), Wade (5), and Caron (10). And when you look even closer, Riley didn't want to draft Wade or Beasley. Dude lost his marbles years ago. We're lucky to have won it all in '06, but that was all because of Flash.
RETIRE RILEY!!!
Bobcats 104, Heat 65
Observations from Wednesday's 104-65 loss to the Bobcats at Times Warner Cable Arena: An awful, embarrassing, humiliating start, as the Heat fell behind 22-6, with the Bobcats making nine of their first 11 shots. There are just too many times when this team does not look ready to play. Way too...
the root of the problem is rat riley.
he IS the current coach of the heat. nothing has changed since he left the sidelines. spo is his puppet.
why are we playing Q and Haslem so much? most likely, they will not be on the team next season.
dorell and beasley should be getting tons of minutes, not getting jerked around for veteran scrubs. and we all know how much pat the rat loves his veterans, and does not like youngsters.
under pat, has any draft pick after #10 panned out? zero that i can think of. all successful teams have youngsters that contribute. we develop NONE; it's pathetic.

"Q: Michael has definitely improved his athleticism. Why doesn't he rebound the ball consistently on every play, the way Joel and Udonis do? Often times I see him running the court already after a shot from his teammates. If he puts an effort into it, he will be a very good rebounder. -- Ryan."
my answer: BECAUSE HE SPENDS SOME, IF NOT MOST, OF HIS MINUTES AT SF.
ASK IRA: Could Arenas emerge on the Heat's radar?
Q: If Arenas gets his contract voided, can the Heat pursue him? Should the Heat blow its salary-cap space to sign him to a contract? -- Anthony. A: I figured these were coming and figured David Stern's sanctions would open the floodgates. So here's the answer to all similar queries that will fol...
"But if Riley thinks Sopron has a brilliant coaching mind, that means that he's willing to let him learn of the job and stick it out with him as our head coach for a long time."
and what "elite" FA is going to want to play for this crap-for-brains coach next season? Wade included.
Celtics 112, Heat 106
Observations from Wednesday's 112-106 overtime loss to the Celtics at AmericanAirlines Arena: As heartbreaking as it gets. How? How could Mario Chalmers lose Rajon Rondo. How? How? Dwyane Wade couldn't have done much more in his 44-point performance. His 18-point first quarter tied the fifth...
But actually if you are going to blame Spoelstra, you really have to blame Riley for being old and senile not to recognize the coach's defencies. I said this years ago, Riley has lost a few marbles. As long as he is in charge of our organization we are going nowhere. I'm sure Wade sees this behind closed doors, which is y he contemplating leaving

I really must ask you this.
Are you retarded?
Posted by: doctorb | January 06, 2010 at 11:30 PM
I completely agree with Garrett. Riley's been toasted for years. and for those calling for Spo's head, call for Riley's; he's the root of the problem.

Horrible calls I agree, but no moving screen should have been called. He just beat Chalmers straight up on a back cut. Chalmers is an idiot.

I'm not trying to make an excuse for Rio, but big baby clearly elbowed him while coming around that screen. and he was still moving.

"How could Mario Chalmers lose Rajon Rondo. How? How?"
moving screen, that's how. we got hosed on a few big calls/non-calls. lime when Q got elbowed by Pierce and got called for a foul... then we got a tech. ouch.

"Perhaps it was a game late, considering how Dallas' Erick Dampier destroyed the Heat in the middle on Friday night, but Jamaal Magloire was the first Heat center off the bench."
spo and riley are geniuses.
Grizzlies 118, Heat 90
Observations from Sunday's 118-90 loss to the Grizzlies at AmericanAirlines Arena: The biggest surprise of the night wasn't the way the Heat humiliated itself, It was the lack of boos. This performance deserved at least that much. Perhaps that's because there weren't enough fans in attendance ...
nobody mentioned the genius move by spo in the 4th:
arroyo
wade
chalmers
beasley
haslem
i would have gone with:
wright
wade
beasley
haslem
magloire
but he went small and we got destroyed by erica dampier and some shrimp named barrea. brilliant!
is Spo insane?
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
Haslem at Center. I thought he realized it didn't work out early last season. Over one year later, and he's still trying to fit the square peg in the round hole.

ASK IRA: If not Arroyo, then who?
Q: Ira, I'm tired of hearing of all these comments about Dorell, Beasley and Chalmers. The real question right now is what will the Heat do about its backup point guard? Clearly, Carlos Arroyo is not the right choice. Now what? -- Martin. A: First you see how much you can get out of Wade, Dorell...

Mavericks 106, Heat 93
Observations from Friday's 106-93 loss to the Mavericks at AmericanAirlines Arena: The Mavericks still have the Heat's number, with this their 11th consecutive regular-season victory in the series. The Heat, of course, still has the 2006 NBA championship. It also has a 6-6 home record this sea...

"He [Cook] should be coming off midrange screens much like Rip Hamilton used to do."
exactly. I've been thinking the same thing since last season. Rip makes his defender work to get through screens and keep up with him. it would be nice to see him wear out defenders by chasing him around, and Cook would get some good mid-range shots. a guy with his athleticism shouldn't be relegated to sitting around the perimeter all game.
and I agree: Dorell > Jones
ASK IRA: How much of a disappointment is Cook?
Q: With all the fickle fans wondering why Riley doesn't do this or that, does it ever frustrate you to answer questions that seem so obvious, to where this team is this year? My comment is that all the talk about Beasley and Chalmers is overdone. My opinion is that if Daequan Cook was playing at ...

"where's Magloire??? I thought he would have been our best matchup vs Oden (20 Rebs). instead, when JO wen out with foul trouble, Joel came in and got abused."
I forgot to mention Spo also used Haslem at C. has he not realized that Haslem is NOT a C??? why not Magloire?
Haslem at Center = Guaranteed Fail
Heat 107, Trail Blazers 100
Observations from Tuesday's 107-100 victory over the Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden: The first half was a referendum on the possibilities of Dwyane Wade and Michael Beasley. Both were very good. The seven first-half assists by Wade (pictured below against Brandon Roy) were the most in a half...

that's the only gripe I have about Spo last night ... and his odd substitution patterns, which we're used to already.
good game ... go heat!!!

and to all of the bloggers that were saying, "we are 7-2... why is everyone complaining?". now you see why. although we won some games early this season, most of us were able to see the deficiencies within the team. essentially, it's a repeat of last season.
and since Riley has the "let's wait til 2010" approach, why not Wade? this attitude starts from the top and it's contagious.
ASK IRA: Does the Heat need a bench boost?
Q: Hi, Ira. My question is: When will Riley realize that the backup guards simply suck? The Heat should use the contracts of Arroyo and Cook to make a trade for a guy who can actually pass or make shots. -- Peter. A: I agree that the Heat hardly is getting much from its bench. Daequan is providi...
JB, wherever you are:
my girlfriend got a new mongoose mountain bike for $100 at Walmart in Kendall. it has front and rear shock absorbers and 21 speeds. no, it's not a Trek or Cannondale, but it's been perfect for casual riding (she's never taken it off-road)... we usually go for long, 3-4 hour rides. so far, 3 years and it's still as good as new.

He's a great shooter [Morrow], but Golden State stats are fool's gold. They're 6-10.
Posted by: josh | December 01, 2009 at 02:31 PM
very true. it's just disheartening that we drop talent like Morrow and keep the likes of Joel, Shav and Diawara.
if Beas or Dorell are traded to another team, I'm sure they will flourish.
f*ck Riley and his "Heat culture".

Anthony Morrow has hit 20 of 37 from downtown over his last 4 games. TWENTY THREE POINTERS IN FOUR GAMES.
we could have really used that kind of production right about now, especially with his salary. but on this team, he'd probably be warming the seat next to Dorell. go heat.

did beasley play the entire 4th quarter? i think so, and this could be another one of Spo's blunders. I want Beas out there to finish, but not when he is exhausted.
dorell has played well in his limited minutes so far. not sure why he's not getting more pt in this "developmental" season.
our defensive scheme SUCKS!!! year after year, we rotate and leave shooters wide open. this also causes mismatches. thanks Riley.
ASK IRA: Is Wade playing head games with the Heat?
Q. Hey Ira, every superstar has said no free-agency questions, to respect their team and organization. Why is Dwyane Wade welcoming free-agency questions still? from dorell's espn profile:
