Wade is a bad defender. His obsession with steals and blocks makes its possible for his man to kill us. Also, why wasn't Wade the primary defender on Vince Carter last night??? We lost this game on defense and Wade's need to go for the spectacular. If the offense ran like it did against Boston we would have won. Also, I think its a joke that Haslem is playing ahead of Beasley. I think Beasley is as potent an offensive weapon for us as Wade. Seeing as Wade get all this attention, we would be better served having Beasley play off him. Anyways, what do I know, i am just a fan.

Of the three, Kobe is the only one capable of speaking English. Lebron and Wade cant speak English. As for Adam, please be careful accusing people of Rape when there is no proof. Especially when the victim has 2 others peoples Semen on her underwear.
Let me first state that I am a CANE for life. Now, I can’t get mad at Bryce Brown. The truth is that our current Running Backs coach hasn’t developed any Star Backs. What Running Back has Tommy Robinson sent to the NFL? Let me remind all of you that LeSean McCoy and Graig Cooper were in prep school together and came out ranked 1/1A. While Cooper didn’t even bother putting in his papers to the NFL, McCoy is set to be a 1st round Pick. Bryce Brown has his sights set on being an NFL running back and I can’t blame him for making this decision. Until Whipple makes us into a top Offense again recruits will waiver on trusting us to send them to the next level.
I forgot to mention this, do you guys realize that the Heat wouldn’t be a playoff team if it was in the west??? In fact, Miami would be the 10th in the west. How can Wade be an MVP when his record isn’t good enough to be even 9th in the west???
Listen Heat fans, how many of you thought Kobe was the MVP the 2 years he took a team starting Kwame Brown at center and Smush Parker at PG to the Western Conference Playoffs?? This Heat team would be in a better Playoff position if Lebron or Kobe were replaced with Wade. Also, for Dumbasses like “ohshz” who claims that the Lakers would win a championship if you replaced Wade with Kobe I have one simple question: Who will defend the best perimeter play when teams play the Lakers if Wade was on the Lakers??? Go back and look at what Kobe did to Lebron when the Cavs played the lakers. Kobe isn’t MVP just because of offense, its also because of Defense. Go and look at Wade’s number sthe second game the Heat played the Lakers. Wade didn’t score a field goal when Kobe was Guarding him. In fact when Kobe went to the bech in that game Wade scored 7 in a roll really fasty and once Kobe was reinserted, Wade couldn’t do jack. I am a heat fan but I am not blind. Kobe is the best player and the MVP this season, and think Wade and Lebron are tied for 2nd. Basketball is played on 2 halfs of the court. Steals and Help side blocks by Wing men isn’t good defense. Good defense is holding down your man.
South Florida Fan, what was Florida's record the year Zook was fired??? Who was the QB of that team?? How many good players were in that team. Meyer is a million times better than Shannon. he won with Zooks players and has won now with his players. Florida is a very young team and you can deceive yourself that Miami is young but Florida is just as young. Georgia Tech is younger team than Miami but they totally embarrassed Miami. Stop trying to defend Shannon, he sucks. He needs to get better. Dont compare him to Meter cos Shannon isn't in the same league. I am Cane but I am not blind.

monty_williams, Mike Leach wanted the UM job. The same Mike Leach of Texas Tech. He was recommended by Donald Trump. So don't tell me that I should be grateful that I have Shannon because no teams were knocking down our door. Also, I cant separate Shannon from Coker because he was a head assistant under Coker. Many people think highly of Charlie Strong because a staff is supposed to work as one. Shannon was part of the problem under Coker. Butch Davis was a bad game day coach here but he was big on player development and his teams progressed as the season went along. Shannon's teams regress as the team progresses. Lastly on the Marve issue, its not a matter of whether Marve is wrong or right. He is a 19 year old and there is nothing gained by be being vengeful against him. Marve's future doesn't have to be messed with because he was missing classes at UM. Shannon and the Miami administration look small by being petty. Also monty_williams, since you are an alum, how many classes did you miss in a semester at UM???

What I have realized is that actual graduates of the University of Miami see Shannon for who he really is: A confused man who can recruit but can’t coach. However, the uneducated fans of the University of Miami keep ignoring reason. Why would anyone take offense to Linda Robertson's article?? I recall mentioning once that as a graduate of the University of Miami I found it embarrassing that Coach Shannon spoke slang sometimes in his interviews and someone on this blog told me that none of that mattered. Here is the truth; anyone who is part of the University of Miami family and has a fully functioning brain can see that Shannon's actions over the past few weeks have cast a negative light over the University. Too many smart journalists can’t be wrong on this Marve transfer issue. Shannon looks petty and the University appeals committee makes the school look foolish for upholding any part of those stupid transfer stipulations. If Miami is to make the net step to getting back to its past glory one of 2 things has to happen. Either Shannon finds ways to improve his people management skills as well as his X's and O's skills or the University cans Shannon and gets a more competent coach.

The Gators are young and loaded and add to that a recruiting class thats ranked higher than ours. So why any of you keep trying to compare us to the Gators is beyond me. We finished 7-6 this season. lets try and win 8 games first before we start talking. We have the players to get better, the only question is if our Moron of a coach can get better. The way we talk crap is why people hate us. We need to be humble because right now we suck and have no business talking.
This thing isnt over and UM is the one making it not go away. Miami should lift all the restrictions and let the guy go away. What do we have to lose that we havent lost already. If Shannon was a good coach he would let this guy leave. If we are on the rise like many of you claim, then letting Marve go without restrictions would mean nothing cos he would be the one losing as he wont be part of something special. However, the truth is this: Shannon sucks as a coach. He couldn't win with Coker's recruits and blamed Coker, now he is mediocre with his own recruits and he is covering up his Emerald Bowl Foolish coaching with this Transfer Drama. Fact is this, Marve wont be part of our team next year and fighting the Marve family is a foolish distraction that doent help us move forward. Its obvious they wont stop fighting for these restrictions to be lifted. So Shanon can be that petty to fight a 19 year old??? Well that confirms to me all I have fear about Shannon. He isn't fit to be a head coach at a Major Program and him and high pack of dumb high school coaches will be shown the door after this season. That Oklahoma team we saw last night is coming to play us the 1st Saturday of September, please lets hide our women and children cos that team will kill us.

Watching Ed Reed makes me miss the good old days
Canesfan2121, I cant make such a bet. As much as I think Shannon isn't the best for the job I still wish him success. I want the Canes to win every game they are in no matter who the coach is. My hope is that Shannon sees the error in his ways and changes. I will criticize the coach when I think he is wrong but I wont ever wish for my team to lose. So, no, I wont bet that the Canes will lose even 1 game next season.
nashvillecane, I am a black man too but I want to win. I dont care if the coach is green, purple, white or yellow. As long as he can coach i am fine. So far Shannon has handled things in ways that make me think he isn't good enough. I'm I the final authority on good coaching? no. I am just stating my opinion. I am the first to also say that I hope that my assessment of him is wrong and that he eventually develops into a great coach. GO CANES
nashvillecane, I am a lifelong Canes fan. Davis was a great recruiter with us however, he had to be one of the worst game day coaches ever. Obviously, he has gotten better now. The Defense was the same defense we ran the year before Greg Schiano left. Yes years after we were ranked in the top 10 but they defense is still plagued with the same issues. We still cant tackle. Also, we slipped every year after Taylor left. I think that correlates with the slid we had each of the Coker Era.
Tee-Jay I am not comparing their first 2 years. I am simply saying that in the 1st 2 years Shannon has been coach he hasn't had a record yet that exceeds any in the Coker Era. I agree that developing talent is a 2 way process but the players have done their part. All the players have to do is Show up. The coaches are supposed to mange the personalities and get the best out of them. These are kids. They aren't pros. Once gain, these players show up highly touted, all they need is direction and refining and thats all on the coaches.
I think all the mediocre seasons has turned many of the Canes fans disgruntled and for a select few its eaten away at their brains. Canes "Fanatics" indeed. Its ok to love the Canes but please people don't lose your sense of reasoning. Think of these players as kids and maybe just maybe you will see things differently. They don't exist in the abstract; they are actual living breathing beings.
If Shannon can interview and Hire Nix away from another ACC school, I see no reason why a player cant go to any school they want to go to.
What do the 10 commandments have to do with Marve and Shannon and transferring. If you want to talk about commandments why is Shannon being vengeful and petty. Why cant he turn the other cheek and allow Marve go away without any restrictions??? Or do you think about the commandments when its convenient???
texascane, its your mental stability thats in question. In case you live under a rock, college players don't get paid jack but they generate Billions every year. What Shandel is saying is that everyone else is allowed to do whatever: however the players that actually "Play" are restrained from moving. Is there a penalty for coaches leaving schools???? Its another level of injustice the players have the endure. The players are the product in this billion dollar industry and they can neither earn a cent nor move around freely. What makes you think that every player wants to transfer?? Its ok to make players sit out a year however the rule that allows restrictions should be repelled. The restriction is just another added punishment for the players.
nateoffy, the only reason the players will leave is because their high school coaches are sending their kids here to play for Shannon and not for the University of Miami. Thats the same reason why we have 3 former South Florida high school coaches on our staff. Aside from Bill Young, our coaching staff is probably the dumbest in all of the FBS. Between the Marve fiasco and the Foolish Coaching at the end of the Emerald bowl, Shannon has shown himself to be incompetent. Also, Mr Danny Couch, you say you have met Randy Shannon and he is an intelligent man; That makes me wonder the criteria you use in measuring intelligence. You guys can deceive yourselves about the state of the this program all U want but the reality is that our coaching staff has been bad since Coker. Funny, Shannon was one of Coker's lead assistants.

Also those of you getting mad at the national media should blame Shannon. All we heard the week leading to the Bowl game was that there were 5 UM players suspended for the game. When you keep suspending players for minor infractions without publicly saying what it was people are allowed to make their own inference. Shannon might be trying to clean our image but he is going about it the totally wrong way. In addition, his hard nosed approach isn't going to work. If we were winning 10 games maybe but not when you are botching clock management at the end of games. The players aren't fools, they can tell that their coach is getting out coached almost every game. They can see a team like Utah who don't have half the Athletes Miami attracts succeed meanwhile our coaches seem to be killing talent. For the last time people need to stop killing Coker for the so called "bare Cupboard". Here are 2 facts to take with you: 1) Shannon was the DC under Coker and was part of the recruiting team. 2) Those classes were ranked high but our coaches are the ones who failed to develop the talent. lastly, Shannon so far hasn't been able to have a better record than Coker in his 2 years and I doubt thats going to change next season. Albeit in a very very very weak ACC.
Shandel, this is by far the best blog your have written and my hats off to you. Sometimes fans get caught up in all the college football action and forget that the players are kids. This is the reason why I have been calling out Shannon since this story broke. His original restrictions seem to suggest malice behind them. Also like I thought, the restrictions would generate a lot of national backlash and that has happened. Seeing that kid Nixon cast the UM hat aside today confirmed that we are no longer who we think we are. If you combine the display our coaching staff put on at the end of the Emerald Bowl with the Marve fiasco, why would any parent want to send their kid to play for this Coach??? This program is no longer elite. Randy Shannon should concentrate on becoming a better coach rather than trying to fight a 19 year old kid. I personally do not feel Shannon can lead us out of this wilderness but a part of me hopes Shannon can prove me wrong. Also, Shannon please announce your Offensive coordinator asap. People are going to start questioning your judgment for firing your OC (Who btw your praised all year) without having a replacement in mind.
Randy Shannon is the Problem. Get rid of Shannon and we should be ok.
