If you can just hang in there until they're grown up and moved out--then maybe, just maybe--YOU'LL get some sleep!

"If you love life, why are you rushing through it?" I strained to see, and then read aloud those words, appearing in the window of a new bike shop called, "Rolling Orange," that's just opened in our area of Brooklyn.... Continue reading

Hang in there! Don't forget--that while they're away there will also be those moments when they miss you too! Perhaps while they're away, you and your husband should consider your next Manhattan adventure-- opening up a Chinese Restauarnt on the Upper West Side!

I'm notoriously late in my personal life. Not on purpose, of course. Things just have a way of popping up that leave me running to whatever's next. I've been late for so long, that even when I'm on time or... Continue reading

The letter that came home in the folder my daughter's school backpack began, "We have recently found a bed bug specimen in your child's classroom. Bed bugs are a nuisance, but their bites are not known to spread disease. They... Continue reading

Her public school was not thrilled when we mentioned we were going to pull her out. Although they were accomodating about giving us work for her to do while we were gone. We actually had to "un-enroll" her from the school, due to the "No Child Left Behind" laws. Otherwise she would have racked up too many absences. As for Cyclorama, yes, well the audience was a bit split on whether it was a snooze fest or not. We'll have to check out your suggestion of the Lincoln exhibit!

It's always so hard to explain to young children about natural disasters (and other bad happenings in the world) without scaring them into thinking these things could happen to them. And yet, when they're bombarded with the news all around them, I don't want to lie to them either because they're smart enough to know things are out of sorts. Finding the right balance is the real challenge--but you always seem to do that so well!

It would seem to me that you already must have some super-powers as just getting out the door with two kids can be a challenge most days!

I'm sure he'll grow out of it! That is, until you take him on his first camping trip and he sees a bear! Then all those other animals pale in comparison.

Nancy-you've done it again. I only wish I could have been there in person to see you and Jillian both! Despite her sweetness however, I'm sure I still would have been intimadated just knowing what she can do! Thanks for the laughs!

Hey--I thought you were 29! Super post--and I love the deal you've made with your younger one. Practically worth having another child just to make deals like that!

Blah, blah, blah...Good for your son to indirectly stick it to the snobby business man you encountered! Let him get back to his regular "helicopter" commute, and let the rest of us regular commuters do what we have to do! (Which often involves bringing kids!)

Vive "La Immunite"! I know very few moms who HAVEN'T ever done this. (As long as the kid didn't have something serious.) So don't feel too guilty.

It's completely worth going out of the way to take advantage of the elevators! They're a glorious sight to behold on so many days! It does make remind me though, how much is still needed in improvements for those who are in wheel-chairs or have other physical disabilities making it hard for them to get up long staircases.
