i so often find it interesting to see apts on apartment therapy where i feel that there is no indication of the detritus of life. i find it hard to believe when i see: no books (i couldnt live without my books) no electronics of any kind? (maybe everything is on a laptop and iphone?) no tv? (interesting .) no... Continue reading

watched a fascinating interview with Suchet on the night of a screening of FINAL CURTAIN. i dont remember who aired it - but it was the debut of FINAL CURTAIN in the US. anyway the interview and then audience questions was wonderful. his rappaport with the audience (some very enthusiastic fans) was touching and admirable... he talked about his path in creating the role - one thing i loved that he mentioned - when he started the first set of HP he sat down and read ALL the stories and novels and every fact or note about HP and his characteristics, history etc he wrote down - he said the binder is huge now - and that was before they knew they would be filming all of the works. i agree that he and Hickson embody both of those characters (i have not watched any of the latest set of Marples- while i admire and like MacKenzie - NOT as Marple and i am finding the changing of the stories and adding characters etc to be very distracting and often disastrous) i may join you on your journey - have never read all of them either - i have many in hard/paper back but agree about the KINDLE prices. do watch as i have grabbed a few when Kindle has sales - will advise you if that happens (i got all of D Sayers for about 1 each in 2013 right before christmas!)

sounds like you worked hard and were rewarded sumptously! how wonderful to read these reports ... especially for those of us for whom this will never happen.
all good plans…you know the rest I had hoped to use Scribefire so I could quickly post daily from work (during lunch!) but its not giving me access to this blog (I have several others at Typepad) and the Tpepad posting feature is a bit clumsy so until I figure... Continue reading

I had just plugged my office phone in when a friend called, so I turned my chair away from my computer and was looking out into the garden and a PAINTED BUNTING flew over and perched in the Sweet Olive by the patio. It stayed for at least two minutes... Continue reading

late yesterday afternoon I was in the kitchen and looked out the window to see a Black-capped Chickadee trying to drink from the bottom tier of the fountain in the kitchen garden, but the water was too low. Then a Carolina Wren flew in, chased the Chickadee off, and began... Continue reading

Sitting on the patio. Morning latte. My beautiful homeysuckle transplanted this spring to a nice big pot all of a sudden is withering away. Sulking and drooping. Not sure what's going on. Photo to come. Must research. Today's agenda includes the youngest nephews kindergarten graduation. Exciting. He Came over on Sunday to invite me. That was the day of the... Continue reading

In comments to my 1–4–13 post re Downton Abbey, the DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET was mentioned by several writers, as being superior to DA. In my thinking, that is one of the very best British TV Dramas that was produced during that wonderful time in the 70–80's along with UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS and a whole list of others – below is... I am finally succumbing to the DOWNTON ABBEY craze... had watched the first two episodes sometime last year and was not impressed enough to continue; besides I had the first two seasons of FORBRYDELSEN (The Killing) to enjoy: unfortunately since the 30 episodes are subtitled, it put a damper on any multitasking – i usually have the laptop open and...
