it's like a weird popcorn. :) And I might! I think it will be so much more fun when she can TELL me what she wants the photos to be of. :)

Yes! It will definitely be a book. I think I'll print two copies. One for my shelf and one for her shelf. :)

Thank you so much! yes, I am SO GLAD I have grown over the past decade. How sad it would be if I hadn't! ;) That's a good question - the story is written and there is not a lot of talk about Paul because he's been so chill throughout the whole thing. Paul is incredibly supportive, and his steady income is what made it work for me to only contribute $30K in the early years. Thankfully, I have never gone into debt for what I am doing, either with a bank or with our finances. I keep my business separate from our accounts, so it's not like we'd spend $5000 of our money on something for the business, I would spend $5000 of Elise Joy money on something for the business. Because of that, I don't think he worries too much. He also knows I'm absurdly practical about this stuff. This is my dream job, but I'm awake from a practical standpoint.

net = gross income minus expenses. so I paid state and federal taxes on $30K I don't know what the tax rate was in 2011, and I filed jointly with Paul. $30,000 felt like a lot for working for myself but it's not a ton, especially in CA. :)

read part seven here. Sometimes when I start talking money or financial goals people get a bit nervous. "Oh, I hate to think about the money." Or "Oh I'd rather not discuss money." But, let's get real, to make money... Continue reading

Oh no Big Reason - I just think it's hard to have your name and your brand be the same thing. It's (much) harder to separate who you are and what you do. But obviously it works for some (ahem, Martha Stewart!) ;)

I keep it there all the time! This is our guest bathroom so it doesn't get as much use, but when people are in down they just shower with it there. We have a lot of light in the bathroom so that helps and I water it by sticking it in the plugged sink (and letting it pull water up from the bottom) about every two weeks.

Oh man, I have dreamed about owning a large format FOREVER. I am so happy with this one. I haven't been doing too much small photo printing these past few months (just one PL layout a month) but I will be using it for some 12x12 photos that I need for sure. Canon has a smaller, portable, selphy printer and tons of "traditional" size printers as well for printing smaller photos. :)

hey! Canon sent me a few printers that I will be sharing more about over the next few months. I have the Selphy that I'm printing small photos on, the large format (shared in this post) that I am printing bigger projects on and then a "normal" 8.5x11 printer that I am using as my daily printer since my HP photosmart bit the bullet this summer. :)

oh it will be a hot mess. Thankfully all the big frames are attached with Command strips that take QUITE FORCE to pull down.
