Hello there, I think I have some long overdue explaining to do.... You see, my blog has been called, 'Something for Kate' like forever, over 7 years in actual fact. And I just went & changed it all without too much notification. Its still at the same address of course so maybe the change even ...

Kitchen: Egg net veggies & grain surprise!
Ok, I just totally made up that title for this "recipe". Sounds sorta exciting though, yes? On Instagram and Pinterest, I find all sorts of inspiration. Just a little flick through on my handy little iPhone, anytime, anywhere & I'm entertained & inspired x infinity. A few weeks back, a cl...

Five other uses for my 'Homemade moisturising body bar'
One of my most shared posts is my 'Homemade moisturising body bar recipe'. Have you tried it? It's good. I thought I'd share five other ways I use this body bar: #1. As a barrier to prevent henna dying my skin, when dying my hair with henna. I apply it along my hairline. It works a treat a...
thank you for making us more aware! is there somewhere we can find out what's endangered in our area?
What would inspire you to care about threatened plants?
Today is National Threatened Species Day in Australia. National Threatened Species Day is held on 7th September each year - commemorating the death of the last Tasmanian Tiger at Hobart Zoo in 1936. Have you read the children's book 'I Saw Nothing: The Extinction of the Thylacine'? I can't help ...

Isaac has just started sitting in the front seat of the car. I've always loved going for drives and now I feel like I have company :) every afternoon when I pick him up from school we tell each other about our days, and discuss anything that has arisen. Often we'll sit outside our house still talking, just sitting in the car, enjoying each other's company.
As for the print... Town Houses is my favourite in your shop at the moment. Adore the little fox too!
Family: Simple stuff, is what children want...
I was catching up on orders & graphics this morning & then had a little quick click around the internet. I came across this {no idea how I got there... one click on this & that....} and anyway, I thought it was a lovely & worth sharing. If this is what children want, then this is what I am a...
i have a crap load of that in my garden (i think) do the flowers turn into sticky seeds? i will have to check out if it has milky sap! curious now :D
Foraging Chickweed
I've been noticing Chickweed (Stellaria media) absolutley everywhere recently. In the garden at the park, in the school garden, along the footpath, and all though our backyard. Chickweed is a common garden weed that can be found growing in good moist soils in the cooler months. If you are ...
the chutney recipe looks interesting! i've just purchased my first citrus tree, a dwarf blood orange. hopefully, in years to come, i'll have a glut too :)
How to make citrus beeswax candles
I’m embracing citrus season. We’ve been enjoying freshly squeezed orange juice and a range of lemon and lime desserts. I also have a huge container of lemon and lime juice ice cubes waiting to be tossed into hummus and other cooking. The downside of enjoying this bounty is that my compost bin is...
It's funny, I've seen raspberry like canes (that are very hard to whipper snip) and the flowers but never fruit in my garden. I'll have to keep a closer eye on them!!
Foraging Native Rasberry
I spotted some native raspberries a few weeks back when on a bushwalk. I tasted a few but found them rather tasteless. Back home I learnt that what I'd tasted was probably Rubus rosifolius, commonly known as Native Raspberry or Rose Rose-leaf Bramble. It's described as having 'edible but ins...
I'm in Brissie... I haven't but I'll have to check them out!!
Hope and Picnics
On Sunday a friend popped round to see how I was holding up. She had walked a similar path just over a year ago and she very kindly left with me a lovely book that helped her get through. There is no place like Hope - A guide to beating cancer in mind sized pieces by Vicki Gerard I want to sha...

Times are tough but one day you'll turn around and see how far you've come :) They say the best revenge is happiness.... I'd have to agree :)))
Note to self;
Give yourself credit for picking yourself up and dusting yourself off and commiting to a new way of living. Self pitty never solves anything.
How true!!! There are enough critics in the world without our innerselves joining in. Thanks for the reminder :)
Sunday shake up
Last week was all about building up someone else. This week its all about you. That's right. Every time that little voice inside your head says something negative, I want you to be kind to yourself, and tell it to 'rack off'. Literally. Yep. Literally. You are an amazing person. You are indiv...

More wishing.
Wishing for and loving these: I heart this gorgeous wooden puzzle from Xylocopa. Always a sucker for any kind of tree fabric! I love this one from PippiJoe. Etsy love :)) I actually bought this one to keep for a certain girl for Christmas. It's by the very talented Elsa Mora. Sneak a p...
Hey Melissa! I went through a mad paper making phase and I used to dry mine on tea towels. I have a heap of waffle patterned ones and the paper is gorgeous!!! Would be a bit difficult to write on though LOL Try using some crepe paper in your slurry... it will make the colours brighter ;)
Progress.
28 squares completed. 1 million to go. An Anker Stone building by James. Some early morning bug making! The start of our holiday paper making. I just wish the colour would stay beautiful and bright once you squish all the water out. More drying boards would be nice too -...
What a cool photo!!!
