Fantastic fun. I would love to know what was finally served though. KaDeWe is an amazing building but isn't really any more posh than some the Karstadt stores scattered round the country. Sort of like going into Jenners and finding it's turned into Debenhams.

Belated birthday wishes, busy week so this is my first chance to catch up on the blogosphere. Go with the list. It certainly the only way Jane is going to have anything organised for her 40th birthday in October this year.

I suspect the Berlin of today is a very different place to the pre-Unification Berlin I visited. It was amazing. Anarchic, "trendy", carefree, cosmopolitan, fun and always a strange sense of threat looming over the wall. OstBerlin was also very strange, just like in the films it was grey and dour and the people seemed unwilling to make any kind of contact with us.
