I don't have a prayer for departed dogs the way I do for departed cats, but I have every confidence that Ferris will be enjoying the Happy Hunting Grounds as much as Star is presently enjoying the Eternal Catnip Fields. Of course, those of us who are left behind still miss our faithful friends. I'm sorry you lost yours, Wil.

Okay, everybody now! We are the champions, my friend, And we'll keep on fighting 'till the end, We are the champions, we are the champions, No time for losers, 'cos we are the champions...of the world! "Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!! NERDS!!! NERDS!!! NERDS!!!" Three words, Wil: Made. Of. Win.

Absolutely. I saw him do this at UCSB's Campbell Hall, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He let a little of that "lighter side" out in and after the performance, too. That's why, when TNT put out their version of A Christmas Carol starring Stewart as Scrooge, I knew it was going to be good...because I knew the man had enough talent to carry the entire production himself. Sure enough, it was.

Three words for you, Wil: Nail. Head. BANG. (Of course, we in the U.S. are never going to do anything about this, as we're too dependent on the Chinese ponying up money to cover our government's deficit spending. And Barack Hussein Obama is only making our need for China's money worse...far worse than any previous President. Chew on that, Democrat voters.)

"That's when they saw the dragon." ...and that's when they had to put on their brown trousers...:-) Damn, this is good stuff.

This is why I keep a cigarette-lighter adapter for my phone in my car...if I start getting the "battery low" bleep while on the road, I just whip out the "cheater cord" and give my phone some juice off the alternator. I would suggest you run, don't walk, to your nearest phone store/electronics outlet/Wal-Mart and pick one up. Meanwhile, here's hoping you can get in the audition anyway. (crosses fingers) EDIT: Yeah, I'm the Nth one to suggest the car charger. I win no prize. :-)

I bought a copy of the PDF right after you announced its availability, and, in a couple of steps, transferred it across to my OLPC XO-1. (I found out I had to upgrade the system software on that machine, too, but that's another story.) Later, I took out the OLPC, used the Journal to open Sunken Treasure in the Reader activity, hit the "screen rotate" button, and twisted the display around into "tablet" mode. The result was a very readable E-book, that I could page through using the "game" buttons on the side of the screen, with the display in a "portrait" mode. Well done, and, if you release any more of these, I'll likely cough up the dough for them. I'll also forward this blog entry to another author friend of mine who is interested in E-book publishing issues.

@wilw, I don't blame you one bit. Even I have trouble keeping up and my number of followers and follow-ees are only at about 150. Your list of followers just kicks it up to notches unknown to mankind. And no, I wouldn't use my phone to follow anyone, except in special circumstances. But the phone makes a handy input device to Twitter, again, in the right circumstances. You do what you do, and I'll do what I do, that voodoo that we all do so well, and we'll just keep on rolling, er, tweeting. @erbo out...

I was just in Best Buy at lunch today, and, over at the Rock Band display, two guys were playing guitars on "Livin' On A Prayer." Of course, I immediately thought of you, and part of me so wanted to run over there, grab the mic, and rock it Wheaton-style. :-)

Chock full o'awesome indeed. I'm wondering if they have "You Give Love A Bad Name," too, because I would be totally ALL OVER that shit. Definite vote for a Rock Band event at every con. Wish someone had had this kind of foresight at Denvention, for instance...

I first got to play Munchkin with members of my extended family on Thanksgiving. I saw the label "Steve Jackson Games" on the box and knew it would be good...but, more than that, it was a RIOT. I so totally need to get a copy of my own one of these days.

This will be useful, if it can be relied upon to deliver news and information without bias, or even averaging out to "without bias." Which would be refreshing after a solid dose of the Mainstream Obamedia, which doesn't even PRETEND to be objective anymore. We shall see, although, given the slant of stories presently displayed on their home page, I'm not too hopeful just yet.

Wil, I'm sorry, but it's going to take more than that for us to forget EIGHT LONG YEARS of the most vicious bile directed at us on the Right by the people on the Left. We got called xenophobes, Christofascists, rednecks, racists, Nazis, Gestapo, fascists, morons, and a bunch of things I won't sully your blog by posting here. We had to endure people on the Left calling for the assassination of our elected leaders, holding signs saying "We Support Our Troops When They SHOOT Their Officers," and marching in the streets in support of terrorists who want us DEAD. (ALL of us. That means YOU on the Left, too.) You don't get off the hook that easy. Tell me this: Will you stand with us when Obama seeks to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine and eliminate our voices from all forms of media? Will you stand with us when Obama seeks to impose involuntary servitude on our children in the name of "national service"? Will you stand with us when Obama seeks to take away our Second Amendment rights? When you're ready to answer "yes" to those questions...THEN we can talk about "getting over it" or "not needing any more of that." Until then...well, I hope that we won't descend to the levels the Left has been occupying for these past eight years. But we will be watching. And we will document every slip-up, every broken promise, every gaffe. And, in 2010 and 2012, we will be there, to say to America, "We Told You So."

Well, America, you asked for change. And now you're gonna get it. Good and hard. Enjoy socialized medicine and health care rationing. Enjoy $4+/gallon gas, double-digit unemployment, and skyrocketing food prices. Enjoy handing over more of what you earn to people who don't--or WON'T--work and who keep having children they can't support. And enjoy the deaths of more Americans as our terrorist enemies strike, again and again, because they KNOW they won't face any retaliation. Signed: A member of the silent^H^H^H^H^H^HSILENCED majority. P.S.: I've told my ex-wife she ought to just stay in Finland at this point. The USA will be down that road soon enough.

Next month, my brother and HIS longtime partner will be getting married in Sacramento. I'll be there for the ceremony; in fact, I'm DJ'ing the reception. :-) As uncertain as I am about gay marriage as an institution, I support my brother and my future brother-in-law as they take full advantage of California law as it exists today to protect themselves and their relationship. And I'll say the same for George and Brad, and give them the same blessing I have given to other newlywed couples in Second Life: "May you live as long as you wish, and love as long as you live." And really, we're not gonna see fire and brimstone, the blotting out of the sun, and Nazis riding on dinosaurs as a result of this, are we?
