So the big question is, what do you do? What does a non-profit like SVG do to help educate society? I think this kind of problem is similar in western countries too. I remember hearing stories about how United Way and other non-profits were misusing funds. A lot people I know have become skeptical about who to donate to. And it doesn't help that there's all these scam artists out there trying to make money off of someone elses misfortune. You really do need to be careful. I think for me, I like to donate to organizations where I have either had personal contact with or where someone I respect can vouch for that organization. Someone I respect doesn't have to be someone I personally know, it could be someone like Bill Gates or Tom Hanks. But ya, it's unfortunate that things have to be this way.
