Challenger: I was taking my English final in high school when an announcement came over the speakers. I (being the geek I am) quickly finished up and made a bee line to the computer science lab which had a tv with cable. We spent the rest of the day trying to figure out what had happened. Columbia: The night before I had set the alarm because the flight path brought her over the Bay Area and I was going to take the kids out with the telescope and see if we could spot it. Woke up and it was cloudy so turned on the TV to watch... Today as I was driving into work they interrupted KCBS radio (sister station to KNX 1070 - I so miss the old nightly old-time radio shows) to do the launch live. Here I am screaming "GO Baby GO!" at lift off .. and holding my breath while waiting for that final throttle-up followed with another "Yeah Baby! Go!". Whoever looked over at me must have thought I was weird.

Thanks for these memories. I remember buying my first Dungeon Master's guide after getting the $20 my sister promised if I would ride Revolution with her at Magic Mountain. On a slightly separate note, thanks for the autograph at w00tstock 1.0 - as you said - went through the whole tree of gushing fan mentally.

Heh. I *am* one of the friendly IT guys that'd come visit - except I'd see the sublink and wouldn't do more than send a note saying "if you're reading the article, you better post in his blog" :) Glad you enjoyed, and you make me want to play D&D again -- but I have to relearn everything. Eeek.

Hmm... so if I flock, does that make me a sheep? {checking to see if I have wool... nope.} I enjoy the various postings because I want to see what you write about William F. Shatner. In one way, Mr. Wheaton - it is a compliment that you were mentioned at all - and in the same general breath as Hillary Clinton, Mariah Carey and William F. Shatner. How many other bloggers are out there that'd sell their mother's soul and eat ground glass to have the recognition you get? Even though it is a casual mention by a third rate reporter in some fluff filler piece that will line the bottom of bird cages and litter boxes before the day is out? Now you'll excuse me.. I have to check my local CostCo for the bulk Ground Glass canister and check the current market rates on my mother's soul... :)
