Hi Joe, The 103 number does indeed include CFN13 HD. Although the programming on CFN 13 HD is not shot in HD, the channel is transmitted in HD quality (at 1080i), which is why it's included in the count. As I noted, the count, also includes Movies on Demand HD. Although whether these two channels are truly "HD channels" may be debatable, even without them, Bright House still will hit its goal of at least 100 HD channels. Etan
Frank and Ryan, I've asked Bright House about both Game Show Network and NFL Network on many occasions. Company officials always say they are aware people want these channels and they are talking to the networks about bringing them to Bright House. Since they don't release details of negotiations, they never say more than that. Since there seems to be more demand for NFL Network than Game Show Network, my guess (and it's just a guess), is that NFL Network is more likely to come to Bright House before Game Show Network. As always you can write call Bright House to let them know your thoughts. This link has some contact information: http://cfl.brighthouse.com/contact_us/default.aspx Hope that helps Etan
Mark, NBA TV will also become available on December 17, the same day these 24 channels will be added. I updated my post to include the date for NBA TV. Thanks for pointing this out. Etan
Vladimir, Yes, you are correct. It's Saturday, not Sunday. I reported it correctly in August, but wrote the wrong date in this post. I corrected it. Thanks for letting me know. Etan
Responding to some of your questions - I've repeatedly asked about GSN and NFL Network, and Bright House officials say they are aware people want those channels and the company is working to try and get them. But they usually don't say much about active negotiations with networks. Steve - You can use a max of two adapter for free for the first year. After that, each adapter costs $3.80 per month. Etan
bigdave - Which post are you talking about? I didn't see your comment? Also, I wasn't the first to write about Sex Offenders Search, so Apple probably knew about it when they pulled the other one. Etan
Everyone, Point taken on the use of the term "virus." I decided to use it in the title because that is what many of the articles already online (like Mashable) were using, so I knew people would be Googling for that term. I'll put it in quotes in this headline, and in the follow up post I wrote, I used the term "security flaw." http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/etan_on_tech/2009/07/apple-releases-patch-for-iphone-security-flaw.html Etan
WOW - Sorry you didn't like the post, but it's aimed at people who have never had a BlackBerry or smartphone before. I'd argue that these tips are not obvious because I've had people come up to me and ask questions such as "how do I get the rest of the icons to appear on my screen" or "how do I download apps?" As for the over saturation on Twitter and Facebook, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Etan

Rich - I asked Bright House about NFL Network when the Comcast settlement was reached, but the company said there is nothing new to report. Larry - I assume you know U-verse is available in Central Florida. I'm guessing you can't get it where you live yet? Here is my archive of posts on U-verse, which includes a map. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/etan_on_tech/uverse/ Etan
Joe and Ali, Thanks very much for pointing out that HDNet and HDNet Movies were dropped. Even though Bright House published a legal notice about it in the paper, I missed it. And thanks to Joe for checking out other Bright House markets for clues about forthcoming HD channels in Central Florida. Make sure you check out my latest blog post, which has more details. http://tr.im/nb7B Etan
Lee, You are right about apps asking you if it's OK to use location data when you have location services turned off. However, I think Meeks' point was that too many people just enable location services and use these apps without thinking about how the data might be used one day. Shawn - I asked for specific examples of instances where location data from an iPhone had been misused but Meeks said he hadn't heard of any major cases yet. His point was that with so much location information out there, it's easy for it to be abused. One example is a man who uses Loopt or something like it to track his ex-wife and kill her. Yes, in that case it wasn't Loopt's fault, but he thinks people should be more aware. Etan
Cute_kbear Thanks for your comment. You are correct that Bright House offers Internet service with speeds higher than 7 Mbps. I changed the blog post to reflect that Bright House offers Internet speeds of up to 22 Mbps (thanks to the PowerBoost on the 15 Mbps service). As for pricing, while Bright House (and all telecos) may have promotions from time to time, the cheapest price for a "Combo Plus" plan (Internet, TV, and phone) listed on Bright House's Web site is $119.95. Here is that page http://cfl.mybrighthouse.com/g2b/default.aspx Etan
Noelle, Thanks for the nice words. Yes, I'm @etanowitz on Twitter, as well as the author of this blog, the technology columns in the paper every Sunday and general articles about technology and telecom that run in the paper. Confused - As Justin says, I think most people would choose to watch TV on their big screen instead of an iPhone, but when you are sitting in the airport, or a doctor's office, it's nice to be able to watch a show on your phone. Land line - Since AT&T is a phone company, it does offer a traditional land line phone service. However, U-verse Voice is a different service. It's delivered with a modem along with the U-verse TV and Internet service. From an ATT press release: "AT&T U-verse Voice is a managed Voice over IP (VoIP) service that is delivered over AT&T's fiber-rich network, unlike many VoIP providers that offer best-effort digital phone services over the public Internet. This allows U-verse Voice customers to enjoy great sound quality and reliability, as well as unmatched calling features that combine with customers' AT&T U-verse TV, broadband and AT&T wireless services. Janie - Thanks for the tip. Former AAA Member - I've been a AAA member for a long time, and I agree, the app makes it worth it to join. Bonnie - Sorry to hear that. The app has worked perfectly for me. Did you check on AAA.com/discounts to see if there are any discounts in your area? Etan
Dennis, I'm not sure I understand the question. Or are you making a joke :)? Etan
MLDina - Thanks for coming. Glad you enjoyed it. If it's not too much trouble, I would love you could also post your photos to our photo gallery - http://tr.im/kf7h Etan
