Oh man. The fact that we've been eliminated is just starting to hit me. Instead of getting jazzed up for a play-off game, we're stuck commenting on Danny Ainge's son and Doc's contract extension (which I am happy about BTW). This is already shaping up to be an extremely long summer.
Ainge backtracks from 'Pierce to bench' comment
Via ESPN Boston: Ainge clarified comments made on Boston sports radio WEEI on Thursday that suggested the possibility of a veteran sliding to a bench role to get Jeff Green more minutes next season. "So I said that on the radio show [Thursday], just to get everybody sort of excited," joked Ain...
This loss was no where near as devastating as last year's loss. I'm sure that has to do with the fact that I live in LA. Either way, I think this team does have another run left in them. They just need to get younger and more athletic. I also think Doc needs to develop and/or play more of his bench. I thought Kristic did a great job last night. I really do think he could have contributed more to this team.
Pain.
Achilles pain, elbow pain, back pain, calf pain, ankle pain. Pain. It's a word Celtics fans have grown accustomed to all season. I really did not feel too nervous going into last night's game. I don't know what it was. Confidence? Cockiness? Reserve? I just felt ready to deal with whatever wa...
I think we're going to be stuck with the same core until the next offseason. The core will still be under contract next year and no team will want to trade for them. Ray Allen might be moved, but that's about it.
Recap: Excruciating loss caps a disappointing season
When did the Celtics become a team that couldn't finish? Did it start in Game 7 of last year's Finals? Whenever it started, it reached the apex in this series. The Celtics led this one 87-81 with 4:15 remaining. The Heat closed the game on a 16-0 run. In an elimination game, the Celtics were h...
I don't know. I think Wade is the best I've seen. The guy is just so clutch. Every time he shot the ball, I felt like it was going to go in. It really was incredible and at the same time frustrating to watch as a Celtics fan. I tip my hat to that guy and hope Danny can make this team more athletic.

Rondo doesn't need to ask Doc to start Delonte. Doc needs to realize it himself and freakin' start Delonte! He is the damn coach. The more I think about this season, the more frustrated I get with Doc. I think his refusal to use and develop the bench is costing us right now. In particular, his refusal to use anybody but Big Baby has screwed us over. Big Baby will always represent a disadvantage for us. Yeah I know...he has come up big at times, but he is mostly inconsistent. I just can't help but think that if Troy Murphy and Nenad Kristic would have been worked with a little bit more, they could have contributed much more than Big Baby Davis. ARRGGGHHHH I am so pissed off right now I can barely work.
Taking Stock: C's - Heat Game 4
After each game, we'll be taking stock in each players... and maybe coach's... performance. If we like what we see, we're buyin'. If we don't, we're sellin'. Or maybe we'll just hold onto our stock until we see more next game Rajon Rondo: This is just one tough kid. He didn't have a gre...
You can't tell me that JO has not been an excellent addition to the team. If the Celtics lose this series, it will be because they suffered another injury at a crucial time. In '09, it was KG. In '10 it was Perkins, and now it is Rondo. There is no way we could beat Miami with Rondo playing hobbled. I think the fact that Doc never developed any of the bench players has hurt us in this series. For example, why didn't he play Troy Murphy a little bit more? Yeah...I know he sucked during the regular season, but that was because of rust. If he could have gotten just a little more playing time, I'd bet he'd be performing better than Baby right now. It's a shame that we chose to use a fat, undersized, inconsistent power forward instead of a legit 7 footer in Troy Murphy. In addition, Doc chose to use that same undersized power forward at center to close out games. WTF? He had Kristic! Don't you remember how great he looked when we first got him? Yeah...he slumped shortly after, but Doc should have intervened and done something about it. I know what you guys might say, Kristic can't defend. Well, if that is the case, then goddamn coach him to defend!!! Isn't that what coaches are supposed to do?? Instead, Doc cut his minutes and completely devastated his confidence. Kristic is a natural center for crying out loud! He started for OKC! Why did we chose Baby over Kristic? The C's had options. Doc just refused to utilize them. Now we are paying dearly for it.

All I know is that we are right back where we were last year after three games. We all know how that series turned out! C's just have to win the next game and all the pressure will be on miami. One game at a time baby! One game at a time...
Recap: The Legend of Rajon Rondo
When Dwyane Wade deliberately took out Rajon Rondo (6 points, 11 assists) on a play which resulted in Rondo dislocating his elbow, I thought the series was over. The only positive.. the Rondo injury provided an excuse. Little did I know that Rondo is one of the baddest mother-fffers on the pla...
No doubt the Big 4 need to perform better, but sadly, I think Rondo also has some serious limitations. He can't shoot for shit, he can't free throw for shit, and he is incredibly inconsistent with what he does well. I am sorry, but Rondo is simply not a superstar. Other teams have figured him out. All they have to do is play off of him and dare him to shoot the ball. As long as they don't close in on him, he can't beat them off the dribble and can't see the floor. I would like to see our big three demand the ball more, but supposedly, it's up to the point guard to create opportunities and feed them the ball. I don't know about you, but it seems to me Rondo cannot do that effectively when other teams play off of him.

Baby has not been crucial to any success we've had this season. Please...the guy had some good games in the beginning of the season, but that's about it. Besides, the only thing that counts is the play-offs and he has sucked balls so far. Who the hell cares what he did earlier in the season if he can't deliver NOW. Baby may have a great heart, but you can't deny that he has some serious limitations. He is simply a liability out there for us and Danny must address that somehow. As much as I like the guy, I do not like his basketball IQ, his inability to make consistent shots, and his lack of height. I am sorry, but Baby has to go.

I agree with you 100%! Doc needs to sit baby, but he won't. It's like he has some sort of man crush on him. I can't understand why Doc continues to substitute him on the 5. Kristic is a natural center and he is much better than Baby - even if he has been playing like shit. Hell, Murphy could probably do a better job than Baby right now. Unfortunately, the rotations are set and we have some serious limitations. Whether we win or lose, I think Baby should be the first shipped out of here.

OK, but did he get to practice today? That's what I want to know.
Doc is "more confident now" Shaq will play vs Miami
If you believe what the Celtics have to say about Shaq's injury and progress, then you'll be interested in this update from Chris Forsberg: Doc on Shaq: "No decision made or anything. I’m more confident now that he’ll play in this series. I don’t know when." Doc said confidence comes from traine...
He's going to play against Miami. I have no doubt about it.
Ainge: Shaq not capable of playing 12 minutes
Danny Ainge shed some light on Shaq's status during his weekly interview on WEEI. So when will he return to the court? "I wish I had an answer to that one," Ainge said. "He looks better today. There's progress. We're still hopeful that he'll be ready to play but it's just taking longer to heal, ...
There has been a few times where Kristic has been open only to be passed up for BBD or some other option. I don't care if he dropped off after his first few games. He is a true center and should be given more minutes. I absolutely hate it when BBD goes in at the 5. Doc has got to find a way to get Kristic more involved.

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “It was a matter of us because we had to go trap. We were less one guy on the glass,” Doc Rivers explained following the 96-93...
I hope to someday make a pilgrimage to the Garden and catch a Celtics game.
KWAPT's wild time at Game 1
Now that I've somewhat recovered, I'd like to share my experience of being at the Garden for Game 1 of Celtics vs Knicks. I have to say that the electricity in the building was more like Game 7. Both teams' fans came out ready, and Boston fans were excited that the Playoffs had finally arrived...
All the refs suck when the calls aren't going your way. That being said, it sure seems that we get screwed a hell of a lot more than other teams. I know the New York fans are crying right now, but there were a number of calls that went against us throughout the game. As far as the announcers are concerned, I cannot stand listening to TNT or ESPN. It's too bad they block out Mike and Tommy in my hometown (L.A.). There's been times when I simply mute the TV. You'd be surprised at the perspective you get when you don't have to listen to stupid announcers' and/or color commentators' view of the game.
Jermaine O'Neal Ignites the Celtics
As recently as the last week in March, the mere mention of Jermaine O'Neal's name elicited more smirks than smiles. He was a routine punchline since January when he, and the organization decided to have him take the surgical route in an attempt to salvage his first season with the Celtics. Bas...
Shaq will be back next series. I guarantee it.
Shaq out game 2
Via WEEI Shaquille O'Neal will not play in Game 2 of the Celtics first round playoff series with the Knicks. Doc Rivers said that team doctor Brian McKeon told him an hour before the team went through a light walkthrough that Shaq was a no-go. "Dr. McKeon said we’re not even going to put him on...
Perk was out for over three weeks after the trade. This has NOTHING to do with Perk or with Kristic. This has everything to do with not giving a shit; period. That and falling in love with goddamn jumpshots.
Recap: The Celtics are dead
I feel sorry for anyone who has tickets to the remaining regular season games. The Celtics have flat out quit. That's the only explanation for the pitiful performance we witnessed tonight. How the hell do you blow a 13-point lead to Charlotte? The mighty Bobcats rattled off a 16-0 run in the 4...
I wish someone could tell Rondo to stop it with the freakin' jumpshots! What the hell is wrong with him? Oh and one more thing, what's up with him holding on to the rock for 20 seconds and then trying to make something out of nothing? He should get back to moving the ball around. The starters have been playing like a bunch of jerk offs lately. I do not blame any of this on the new guys.
Recap: C's their own worst enemy, lose to Grizzlies
The Celtics had their chances in this one. But they just made way too many mistakes. The Celtics turned it over 18 times. They got crushed in the paint. They got crushed on the boards and in second chance points. And in the last minute of the game when they were trailing by 1, Rajon Rondo la...
I don't think Kristic is the guy to blame for this slump; even though he did play like crap tonight. The game was lost in the fourth quarter by those who have always been closing out games for us. The news guys were not on the court for those last pathetic minutes. I would argue that it's the starters who are playing like a-holes; not the new guys.

I've never really kept up with Murphy over his career, but I am surprised by how much of a scrub he is. I remember Donnie saying he was a walking double double the night of the trade (before we got him). I am still waiting to see that.

Kobe disses Lamar on national tv
A sharp viewer caught Kobe Bryant throwing towels. Again. The victim this time? His Laker teammate Lamar Odom during Sunday's win over the Thunder. After Odom bricks 2 free-throws at a crucial juncture of the contest, Kobe shows his disdain by chucking a sweaty towel in the Candyman's grill. For...

Twitter / Marc Stein: Just filed to ESPN.com: So ... via kwout Well... here's a surprise. The C's had tried to get in on Corey Brewer while the whole Carmelo deal was going down. In fact, it was their interest that held things up for a little while. Brewer won't tear it up on offense....

Twitter / Julian Benbow: Delonte West sprained his ... via kwout We just can't win with these injuries. I said today that a PG isn't really much of a need for us... but the way Delonte is snakebitten right now, we might as well make a move. Mike Bibby anyone?
