We have been away on a short family holiday for the past 3 weeks, hence the lack of photos for The 52 Project. But we are back now and here are some photos for week 6. The concentration that she has while drawing is amazing. Here she said she was drawing me a Giraffe she saw at the Singapore Zoo. Continue reading

So peaceful when she sleeps. All I want to do is just cuddle next to her and shower her with kisses. But I won't, for fear of waking her up. Continue reading

One thing I like about having a dog is the walks I take with it. It's just me the dog and nature. Sure sometimes we meet other dogs and their parents at the park for a run, but the walk that I have with just Pixel and I are ones that I appreciate the most. This is when I get Me time. Just me and my thoughts. Pixel walks silently beside me, just knowing that I need my space. Sometimes he grabs a stick and begs me to throw it. Sometimes, he just walks silently walks beside me and letting me have my space. Just me and my dog, Pixel. :) Continue reading

The Lil' Tiger loves brushing her teeth. She loves standing in front of the mirror and watch me or her dad brush our teeth and she mimics us. We went to the shops today and got her a new tooth brush that is suitable for her teeth, also she bit it till we can't use it anymore. She chose a Dora the Explorer tooth brush in Pink, she is such a typical girly girl. HAHA.. After brushing, she always ask me to smell her teeth because "It smell good mummy". The Lil' Tiger has also learnt how to make funny faces. She thinks it's the funniest thing ever! Always in giggling fits after making the faces. I love how she has a good sense of humour. Always laughing or trying to make someone laugh. Continue reading

I thought I'd share some photos from when we were at the King's Park Synergy Parkland with you guys. The Lil' Tiger loves playgrounds and I think the Parkland is one of her favourite. It is a huge space and lots of room for the kids to run around. The Lil' Tiger loves it here because of the dinosaurs and the fact that it has a duck pond full of ducks. Continue reading

One morning, the Lil' Tiger woke up and asked if she could have the empty box sitting next to the door. I asked her what does she want to do with it and she smiled and said, "It's my car, mummy". I told her she could have it and she dragged it to her colouring table, took her crayons and started decorating it. After that, she turned it around and sat in it making car noises. I asked her where is she going in her car and she promptly told me that she is going to the shops to get her milk for nap time. After a while, she got her dolls and told me that they were going on a ride with her to the shops and also to the playground. It's amazing how a box could keep her occupied for hours. She was talking to herself and to her babies, pushing and pulling the box around the house and at the end, she told me it was her bed for nap time and she was going to sleep in the box with her babies and that I should cover them up with a blanket because they were cold!... We went on another bush walk last week. This time to Kent Street Weir. I love this place. It feels like you are really in the middle of the bush with the Canning River on one side and the bush on the other side. We went out a little late that afternoon and didn't walk far because there were a large number of mozzies around. I have to remember to bring the insect repellent next time. The Lil' Tiger enjoyed picking gum nuts from the ground and she even pretend that she was Pixel! We ended the walk at the playground near the car park to which she made a birthday cake for her Aunty Mimi. It was so much fun seeing how much she enjoyed her time outdoors. I can't wait to plan our next walk. WHERE DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD GO NEXT? Continue reading

We went to King's Park again over the weekend. This time to the Rio Tinto Naturescape area. I think this is my favourite part of the Park! I love the creek and all the rock and pebbles where the kids an build dams and splash around in the water. Here the Lil Tiger was showing me her collection of "favourite" rocks. And yes, we splashed in the water with a tutu coz that's how we roll! HAHAHA Continue reading

{This is a sponsored post but the views and opinions expressed are purely my own.} I have been thinking about death lately. Pretty morbid and grim I know. I just can't help it. With everything that is happening around the world today, it's hard not to think about your mortality. It's true that no matter how careful you are, if it is your time to go, it's your time to go but the chances are at these days are higher. *sigh* The things that I think of during my free time eh? What would you want your loved ones to remember you for? Me, I hope that when I die, people remember me as being compassionate, loving and fiercely loyal. I would want my daughter to remember all the time I spend with her pushing her on the swing or singing and dancing crazily in our living room to one of the Wiggles' song. I want her to remember that we once went down to the park just to stomp on mud puddles from the rain. I want her to remember that I sing (albiet out of tune) to her every morning in the car on our way to day... Continue reading

This month, I am starting to introduce the Lil' Tiger to her alphabets. I am starting out slow as I am also still trying to learn how to teach her the alphabets. I spoke to her carers at daycare to see what activities they are learning there at the moment and coincidentally they were learning their alphabets and numbers too! YEAY! That way she wouldn't be too overwhelmed by all these things that she needs to learn. I laid out a simple matching game for her one afternoon using flashcards that I already have on hand. I only used the first 10 alphabets just to see if she finish the activity. I got her to watch me match capital letters to small letters. Once I was done, I reshuffled the cards and laid it down randomly for her. The LT did brilliantly she matched almost all the letters correctly. :) My next goal now is to introduce the alphabets individually. We are starting with the letter O this week. Continue reading

I am finding it hard to get her to focus as well Annaleis so I am trying to find out what will keep her focus when I teach her things at home. So far only through play and if we go outside and play that I can engage her long enough to teach her things.

If you are following me on Pinterest or on Facebook (if you are not, you should by the way), you would know that I have started my Montessori journey with the Lil' Tiger. I was intrigued by the way children learn when I went to an open day at a Montessori school near by. I was amazed by how the children have some sort of freedom in how they learn, more on my journey later. One of the activity that is recommended for the Lil' Tiger's age is tracing letters, shapes and patterns. Usually this is done with a tray and some sand. Now, I have no access to sand and I don't think people would like it if I take some from the beach so I searched on Pinterest for a while and finally saw this post on The Imagination Tree using coloured salt! What a brilliant idea! All you need is 3 simple things that you already have at home. A bag of Salt few drops of food colouring of your choice a huge ziplock bag (I got mine from IKEA). Add the salt in the ziplock bag, add a few drops of the food colouring slowly and... Continue reading

Pixel. He has bee part of our family for the past 7 month. He is crazy, needy, loving and he would do anything to be close to you. He is like my shadow actually. Following me here and there and everywhere. When I leave for work, he gets really anxious and when I come home, he greets me at the door like there is no tomorrow. He is always moving, so when he was calm this afternoon, I took the opportunity to take his photos to add to my album. Here he looks a little bit scruffy because I forgot to give him a bath this week. OPPPSIE. Dearest Pixel, we love you so much and we couldn't imagine our lives without you now. xoxo Continue reading

This week's harvest is a very small one. My garden is starting to slow down now and go into hibernation. The only thing that is growing vigorously is my Silverbeet (Rainbow Chard) . I planted them about 4 weeks ago and it was ready to be harvested. It's small because I think it's planted in pots instead of on the ground. That's ok, I like it small. :) I think it's sweeter. The last of my purple beans as well as I think the plant is dying back and one sad lonely tomato. These all went into our one pot Thai Green Curry we had for lunch. Yum. :) The Lil' Tiger helping me water my garden. I am teaching her to plant and care for our veggie garden. She enjoys looking and finding veggies to pluck and eat. :) At least I know she is eating her veggies this way. I may plant strawberries in the spring just so that she can pick them off the garden. What do you have growing in your garden? Related articles Harvest from my garden Continue reading

I have been wanting to properly document the Lil' Tiger's milestones and maybe take proper photos of her apart from using my iPhone, so I thought I would join in Che and Fidel's the 52 Project. Knowing me, I would do this for a little while and then STOP. So fingers cross, by the end of 52 weeks, I will have enough photos to make a year book of her portraits. So here is the very first photo of the Lil' Tiger. Taken 20 April at Kings Park. We were having a break from running around at the playground eating oranges and watching the other kids run around. Are you doing The 52 Project as well? Drop me a link and I will come by and say hi. :) Continue reading
