Screw Jackass Murtha...EX-marine that he is. He's forgotten what the Marine Corps stands for and their core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. He'll burn in Hell for what he's done in his time in Congress...and for his slanderous remarks about real Marines that have protected his fat ass.
Uncle J v. Lummox Murtha in Politico
UPDATE: The story even made the print edition and with a pic of me rather than Murtha. I think it is fairly well known that I have a less than stellar opinion of the Lummox Murtha. He has many faults including his foolish call to cut and run from Iraq and his idea that we could redeploy to Oki...
Damn - Morgan Freeman is awesome! Why don't we hear others, like Mr. Freeman, who look at themselves as being AMERICANS? Lawrence Fishburne, James Earl Jones are two actors that I can think of that want to be looked at as being men - I've never heard anything form either one of them about their race.
Morgan Freeman is a man that truly believes in MLK's words that he should be "judged not by the color of his skin, but the content of his character"...
Two models for Improved Race Relations
Most of you crackers out there reading this blog have served in the military. You've seen racism and stupidity, sure, but that's not all you've seen. You've seen that the system can work with guys like Colin Powell. You've worked with some squared away black soldiers, and you've trusted them with...
Just watched it - very well done, excellent choice of Kevin Bacon as LtCol Strobl. Brought back many sad memories of having to prepare Marines and Sailors for their final trip home - and of the two I escorted home personally. Being the Decedent Affairs Officer, I had some terrific people to work with that helped with preparing and dressing the deceased - the local funeral home was terrific to work with. One thing that pissed me off was on two occasions having to put a foot up an escort's behind (or the unit) because they wanted to be half-assed about doing things. Over two years I had to do it 26 times...every time took something out of me...sometimes it was the senselessness of the death (too many died due to accidents or suicide)...sometimes how careless someone could be during an exercise...or just in how God takes those younger than myself.
One other thing - I had received a call from the mother of a Marine that had died in 2004 - her son was killed when his Hummer rolled over while he was in the turret. She had called and asked for the autopsy reports and photos of her son...she was not planning on suing the Navy/Marine Corps, but she wanted those things to help her and her husband bring closure. I did my part - got the photos, copied all of the reports and sent them to her. During all of that I felt like I got to know her and her son...I felt her loss (and it hurts as I'm writing this). I enclosed a note thanking her for her patience and paying my respects to her and her family on the loss of their son. She called me when she got everything I sent her and thanked me for helping her out and for the note - she said that it meant the world to her that someone who didn't know her son would go out of his way to make things right for her and her family...
I did the right thing for 26 families...and I cry for them every day...
[UPDATED] Chance Phelps Last Stand - According to Major General Kelly
Update: For Steve Cochran's listeners on WGN Radio, here is the link to the original story now on HBO - "Taking Chance". Update 2: From Doc Peabody, the US Navy Hospital Corpsman who attended to Chance Phelps: I am the corpsman who was sitting next to PFC Phelps when we got hit on April 9th 20...
MCQ - I've dealt with the press before concerning the deaths of servicemen (I was the Decedent Affairs Officer at NH 29 Palms for 2 years)...local rag writer would call up asking for info about deaths of people on base of in the local area, always threw out the line "the public needs to know" and "freedom of the press"...clown claimed he was a retired Marine on top of it. Got sick and tired of his calls and told him to shove his notepad and pen up his rear end and that he needed to gain permission from the family of the deceased before I would say anything to him or any member of the press...later found out that the Base PAO always gave out my number to the rag writer. The Marine Captain got an angry Navy Senior Chief crawling up his rear end with the Base Sgt Maj present...ans a private "counseling session" with the Base General...
The phone calls stopped after that...and the Captain had been quickly reassigned to a deploying Marine Infantry Battalion...
The last thing in the world that a grieving family needs to deal with is a member of the press prying into the circumstances surrounding the death of a loved one, especially while serving our country. They just need to leave the families alone...
It Is About Family
I have a good friend, a retired general officer, who served in the Pentagon during the invasion of Iraq and a year or so afterward. When I saw him at a reunion a year ago, he told me about duty at Dover in the course of our conversation. By that he meant that he and other generals at the Penta...
Well this just shows us that Diane doesn't have a lick of common sense to know when to shut up....especially in an open door hearing. I wonder who decided to make her the Chair of the Senate Intelligence (that's an oxymoron) Committee??? Mr. SAT himself - Harry Reid
Why "Intelligence Committee" Is An Oxymoron (UPDATE)
Read this and understand why OPSEC has absolutely no meaning on Capital Hill: A senior U.S. lawmaker said Thursday that unmanned CIA Predator aircraft operating in Pakistan are flown from an airbase inside that country, a revelation likely to embarrass the Pakistani government and complicate it...
I thought that the video with those that "testified" at Winter Soldier II, when they were ask to sign affidavits about their testimony was classic...they have the balls to cry to the world, but to sign a piece of paper saying that they were telling the truth is something that they have to think about...
They are all pathological liars and narcissists
The Deserter's Tale - Milbloggers deconstruct Joshua Key's lies
[Edit Note: Bumped up.] When you have the LA Times proclaim... Destined to become part of the literature of the Iraq War…a substantial contribution to history. ...about an anti-military book by uber-liar Joshua Key, you need the boys at This Ain't Hell (who are on fire) and other milblogs (like...
Jackass Jack, the Ex-marine, needs to be in jail with his GITMO buddies. Dude has done so much to dishonor the Marine Corps and those of us who serve, or have served. He's as dirty as they come...
Friends of the Lummox in trouble
John Murtha has sent truckloads of our tax dollars to his district and received satchels of campaign cash in return. It's not hard to imagine that some badness has happened in the middle of that. It looks like we might find out. Federal agents raided two small Pennsylvania defense contractors t...
New name for the IVAW - The Blue Falcon Brigade...
Another requirement for the BF Brigade...write for a magazine about your "traumatic" war experiences in Iraq...
Chris Arendt - Assclown Extraordinaire and IVAW Member
Over at This Ain't Hell, TSO deconstructs a former Gitmo soldier's interviews to the BBC and in the book "Winter Soldier"...Arendt talks of torturing the inmates, weird shavings, etc. There's so much BS in this kid's story that I have to stop. Just go to TAH and check it out. Here's a taste ...
Dude was in for a total of 43 days, and he gets more run online than General Petraeus...WTF??? Jheri Curl Jackoff was probably an entry level separation, cause he couldn't cut the umbilical from Mom or his homies in the hood...As for IVAW, they are a bunch of malcontents that are all asshurt over having to go over and fight the bad guys, instead of sitting on their collective asses and watch the next season of "An American Idol"...
The Jheri Curl Ranger Strikes Back!...
...at his former masters @$$holes at IVAW. The good gents (Jonn Lilyea posting) at This Ain't Hell are all over it. [We also dubbed old Jesse MacBeth "El Debarge", "Assclown Ranger"...heck we even thanked the Ft. Benning Drill Sergeants for bouncing his ass out of our Army before he even made it...
HONOR, COURAGE, COMMITMENT...these two Marines stood by their core values, while looking death square in the face. God bless these two Marines, and may he watch over their families. Bravo Zulu to Maj Gen Kelly for his role in investigating and nominating these two brave Marines for the Navy Cross. Semper Fi!
"I Shall Not Leave My Post...''
UPDATE: I guess I should read our own archives: Matt sends me a reminder that their heroic deeds first appeared here back in May; take a look at the story here. 2 Marines are now due the Navy Cross for their actions in Ramadi- Cpl. Jonathan Yale and Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter saved Iraqi police...
Shinseki for head of the VA...WTF, it's a mess as is. DO I think that he can fix it...NO! Just another "Beltway Bandit" who will rely on surveys and other propaganda to tell everyone that "we're taking care of the Vets", while the minions who run the organization don't give a rat's a$$ about those of us who have served...
Shinseki for VA? OK
Another Clintonite for Obama. I thought this was a little stinkier pick at first than I do now after reading and thinking for a day. First let's establish some framework. Gen. Shinseki made the absolutely idiotic decision to take the black berets away from the Army Rangers and put them on every...
Army/Navy game was played at the Rose Bowl in 1983 - Navy won 42-13 (I went to it while I was stationed at Camp Pendleton)...
Army Navy Game - Part IV
Nike incorporated camo patterns into the Army's football uniform. The Naval Academy has a new version too which incorporates the US Marine Corps on their football uniforms.
Check wikipeida on him...I remember his name from a few years ago - he was broadcasting on a shortwave station for a few years. The guy is a white supremacist and one that spews his filth about overthrowing the government...he's a wack job, to say the least.
A general mobilization?
Andrea Shea King has asked if we can verify a story she has turned up. The guy is Hal Turner, I know him not, but he has a letter he says was sent to a retired E-6 recalling him after 22 years. He claims this is part of a larger mobilization. I don't believe it's true, but I invite our audience ...
I retired from the Navy in May (26 years as a Hospital Corpsman)...haven't seen anything yet in my mailbox....

Here's what gets me...this is an issue (and someone found out about it)...where was Congress before all the crap went down at Walter Reed? I get sick and tired at Congress and DoD with their knee jerk reactions to this crap.
As for the DAV - where were they in this process? Don't they have lobbyists on the Hill? Looks like they fell asleep at the wheel also, before this bill got out of committee...and they should have been raising hell to everyone before it was voted on. Maybe they had a convention to go to (sorry,as a recently retired vet, I haven't been too impressed with either the DAV or the VOC REHAB people at the local VA).
Definition of Combat Wounds (Benefits) Is Hurting our Veterans

Horrifyingly Flagrant attack on US Navy by Iran
Looks like the Iranians decided to poke at the Great Satan's boats and see what happens. Since they are well aware we are not the British and attempting to board or get about one inch further than they went would have made a whole boat load of sailors happier than shore leave in Thailand, that m...
Retention thoughts
I got this in email from one of our readers still serving with his thoughts on how best to retain our best. It is a good look at one of our biggest challenges. Enlistment, retention and successful transition - a synergistic approach to how we keep the talent we need, while building the human i...
