Man do you guys have a deep rooted inferiority complex with them. You should really concentrate on winning a conference title in a conference where 90% of the teams don't belong in D1A ball.
Sad, but FIU fans still act the same, even with wins in their pillow fight conference match ups.
ULL post-game Mario Cristobal Q&A
What are your thoughts on the goal line stand? “It was the best I have ever seen. That changed the game. Our motto is let’s put the ball down and play ball we were able to get the stop. On that change of possession, we were able to go 98 yards, the length of the field, on a very tough and physi...
Incredible. You couldn't afford to supply Mike Leach's liquor cabinet, much less Mike Leach himself. Let go of the delusion.

You guys don't win this one you might as well bust yourself down out of 1A. No reason to lose to them.

Actually forget it, you guys are right. You know better than the NCAA, which has taken no action. After all, you have the word of a ponzi schemer lol. Way to really strengthen your position. Never hate your enemy, it clouds your visions little boys.

You clearly aren't anywhere near as intelligent as you'd like to think. Clearly I'm talking about the school I root for, but you like to insist it's UM, but there only issue, academic wise, was something with one of their WRs a decade or so ago that resulted in no infractions. I understand the inferiority complex you hold is strong and will never get over it, it's okay. One day, you'll come to terms with it. Your unoriginality won't hide it.
From everything I've been told from those within the UM program, Shapiro is upset because he promised money, never gave it, and UM stripped him of any public recognition.
Why would a ponzi schemer "out" a school he loves so dearly? Well, if it's not for the book deal he's trying to get I really don't know what the reason is (insert obvious sarcasm here).
P.S. Wright was never offered by Miami as a receiver, not like he had the grades to get in there anyway. He's lucky FIU was able to squeeze him in and he didn't have to go JUCO.

Are you serious Fanatic? You don't think if there was a grain of truth the NCAA would be all over it? They were on top of us for the academic cheating scandal before it even broke.
You know zero facts, just taking the words of a ponzi schemer as gold. You make yourself look worse and worse month by month on here.

The fact that you use journalistic integrity after years of following Pete's blog is hysterical.
Monday practice report
Hey everyone, Monday practice was delayed for about 30 minutes due to a nasty thunderstorm that sent the players running for cover under the bleachers. Practice was open to the media for the first 30 minutes. Quick notes DL Jordan White was practicing for the first time this season. TEs Dudley ...
This meltdown is hysterical. People lose all sense of objectivity when it comes to discussing just how qualified, or not, Pete was. But proceed with hating people who are trying to do their jobs in a fair manner...
Rakeem Christmas picks Syracuse over FIU
The 6 foot 9 Christmas choose Syracuse over FIU and Georgetown. Christmas told FOX sports' Jeff Goodman, “I had a lot of great options, but I fell in love with Syracuse. I know a lot of the guys on the team and that made a difference in my decision. I also felt that I could fit in well with the...
Got to love a good train wreck! You guys sure don't disappoint, but sometimes it just borders on pity.
And so it begins; Thomas watch; TV update
Hi everybody, First and foremost, I would like to introduce myself. I am Justin Azpiazu and starting today (July 28) I will be taking over Pete Pelegrin’s duties covering FIU sports on Golden Panthers Prowl. As many of you know, Pete left The Miami Herald last week. Personally, I feel, Pete ...
You're clearly looking at it from your own biased perspective, as you are entitled to. The whole thesis behind your "chip on the shoulder" theory is due to your inferior coverage because...wait for it...your school is inferior. Hence the constant juxtaposition that those on this blog consistently, and voluntarily, employ with that school across town.
But we'll all take lessons from the guy who wants to "wrong a right". Wrong many rights in your life, do you?
Why do I exist here? Flip out the dictionary and look at my name. It's that big book that you use as a substitute high chair to reach the big boy table son.
More 7-on-7s
Back for some more 7-on-7s the other morning and got to see some of the newer Panthers make some plays. Linebacker Winston Fraser looks 100 percent after battling some injuries the last couple of seasons. And to prove it, No. 34 stuck with Darian Mallary on a long pass play preventing Oooh from...
You don't have a chip on your shoulder, you have an inferiority complex, as I've pointed out many times before. Regardless of whatever measure of success you have, Pete's actions reflect poorly on your community, and as him as a "journalist". But that's okay, he was never really a journalist, he was just slanted towards FIU. Objectivity went out the window a long time ago with him.

Classless move by Pete. I agree he should have left a long time ago, journalism (I use that term loosely because Pete is just as much a journalist as the rest of the Herald) is a horrific business.
Best of luck to him, but I expected better than pulling a prepubescent move in, metaphorically speaking, slamming the door to his bedroom and lashing out. Very Dan Gilbert-ish of him. Should have been the bigger man. Oh well, I'm sure you guys can get your fill of him at the football games.

FIU better hope the super conferences don't happen. They'll basically form their own play off system and be a bigger good ole boy network than the SEC already is. Especially if the PAC and Big 12 merge, and the SEC cherry picks the strength of the ACC, you can pretty much waive bye bye to joining a BCS conference (or whatever the equivalent will be) anytime within the next quarter century. With their kind of pull and money, the cheating in recruiting and concentration of power and money will be too big for many schools to overcome.
I really think it's a bad idea, since the super conferences leads us to a playoff system within those super conferences only.
More Honors for GW & Jabari (Updated)
The postseason honors keep rolling in for Garrett Wittels as he was named Ping! 1st team All-American today. GW (right) has already been named Louisville Slugger 1st Team All-American and the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. Jabari Henry (left) became a Freshman All-American today as Lou...
I'm going to entertain your comment for a moment Fomenter. Just how exactly does walking away from a job demonstrate a lack of integrity?
Posted by: chrisfiu | April 14, 2010 at 09:42 PM
Do you not get the concept of context? Or is that something your bottom tier schools can't properly convey?
Which one of you would just walk away from your job because they asked you to take on a colleagues workload? You signed the paperwork, you agreed to do what they ask of you. Short of anything illegal or immoral, you have no reason to walk away.
But yes, Beasley should walk away and quit. It's not like he's in a tough field that gets worse every year and we are in a recession.
Let's Get It Started
Well hello there, Golden Panthers fans. As you have likely heard, I'm Adam Beasley, the new FIU print reporter for your Miami Herald. I'll also be weighing in on this blog from time to time, adding to the strong work by Pete. You've already gotten my credentials, but let me tell you a little m...
This would be humorous if it wasn't so pathetic. Beating up on Beasley for doing his job is downright pathetic. As if any of you would just walk away from your job. That would exhibit a true lack of integrity. You guys want to hold it against someone it would be Rojas.
But judging by the Herald's actions, the tiny niche that follows FIU sports just isn't going to influence them, thus far, to do what you ask. Same reason they care more about publishing about the Jersey Shore than the accident in Poland. Because the American people care more about it. Sad reality.
It's like the fat un-athletic kid crying about being picked last for dodge ball and being the first one knocked out. You want the coverage? Go out and earn it or accept the harsh reality.

Condolences to your family. A difficult moment to go through and hopefully it's something that brings you closer together. I know as an alum of Cornell we are dealing with the recent suicides in our student body. Just a part of life, no matter how much we may resist it.
As far as the whole "blame the Youth Fair" nonsense, it's just that. Nonsense. Wasn't a Pike by the first name of Dustin stabbed on campus less than 10 years ago?
It's senseless stuff that happens because certain people really don't belong amongst the civilized world, hence the creation of prison.
I hope this draws your team and campus closer together. I know our recent incidents and recent tourney run (Go Big Red) has gone a long way for strengthening bonds.
KB Memorial Monday at the Bank
One-time FIU walk-on defensive back Quentin Wyche surrendered to police Friday night as the man who stabbed Kendall Berry. Click HERE for more on this. FIU will be holding a memorial for KB on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at U.S. Century Bank Arena. The memorial is open to the public. UCONN ...
So...what are his options...please elaborate. If he had options he would have told the Herald to go fly a kite. What you're sure of is 100% incorrect. Just look at the facts.
Hello Again
Great to be back from an unexpected spring break. Thanks to all you good people for your support through your e-mails, letters, texts, yells across L.A. Fitness and yells across FIU Baseball Stadium. Good to see the enthusiasm and energy on this blog has not waned despite the 1-week absence. Hel...
Actually Pike, you're comparing apples and oranges, but I've cut down a bunch of my attorneys through their pay or walking papers. Guess what....they chose a cut in pay. In this economy you can't really stand on a soapbox. Where else would Pete go?

Pete's doing his job. If they tell him to go cover the Lourdes HS Bball team then he has to do it. It's their prerogative on what they deem to be more important to cover, and judging by attendance at all FIU sports coupled with the success and alumni support, not hard to see that they could make the decision they have seemed to make.
Donald, You're Hired
Well, not technically, but Northwestern High offensive lineman Donald Senat is expected to sign with FIU on Monday to add more beef to the Panthers offensive line. Senat, 6-2, 271 pounds, is the fourth former Bulls player to join the Panthers following: Anthony Gaitor, Wayne Times and Khambrel...
Well, it's good to see Chris' inferiority complex extends beyond University of Miami fans and their school to me. Don't worry chris, one day, you'll matter.
So Pete, you separate yourself from the UM beat writer in one regards, but level the playing field by giving the first loser the rewards of first place, although he clearly doesn't deserve it? Color me surprised.
4 Wins In March
HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas -- Hello from the "Natural State" -- that's what Arkansas calls itself. Arkansas is also the land of 2 guest stars on Family Guy. On Saturday night, FIU begins first round Sun Belt Conference Tournament play against Denver. The game is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. Eastern time...
No no no NYC and Pete. Last I checked, I won the blog (sorry had to change my name, the typepad no longer accepted it as a log in).
As far as the rules of the blog, no time limit was ever put on the blog, therefore, I have not passed on my right to post it.
Don't worry though, I'll give it to you guys sooner rather than later, I've been just a bit busy working.
Spring Forward: Practice Opens
There was football weather at FIU Stadium on Wednesday afternoon as FIU began spring practice. A windy and chilly day, of course nothing like the high of 45 degrees that awaits a thin-blooded native Miamian in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Friday. Lots to get to from Wednesday's first practice. Thank...
