I can relate on the time issue with blogging and cooking. I too have been tied up with work and other things that I am just to tired to do it. That's why my blog has been on hiatus for the past month and a half.I believe that a rest is needed in order to attain a better frame of mind and refocus (not pun intended), regardless if it is cooking or posting a blog. It helps us do a better job when we get back to it. Glad to see you are back at least for the interim. CHEERS!
Garlic and Herb Cornish Hens
So it's been one month since my last post. I miss writing and cooking on a regular basis, but with work, it's just not always possible. I'm pretty tired when I get home and, as much as cooking relaxes me, I lack the energy required to put a delicious meal on the table. When the weekend comes a...
That sure does sound good. A nice winter dish even though a mild summer day would work with it. Not so much for the 110 degree heat here in Vegas. Saving this one anyway. Cheers!
Baked Sausages with Herbed Beans
Today's recipe isn't very summery, but it's darn tasty. I would save this for a rainy day. It's a hearty and comforting dish. My husband actually found this recipe and planned on making it for dinner last night. I got home from work earlier than him and decided to make it myself. I tweaked ...
YUM! The Holy Grail of sandwiches. You cannot beat a great and simple cheeseburger. So comforting and so delicious when done right. I has been said that even vegetarians dream of cheeseburgers....and bacon.
My Love of the Cheeseburger
Sometimes I think I could become a vegetarian. Maybe more a pescatarian. Besides the ethical reasons, it would certainly cut out expenses, force me to be more creative with meals and perhaps improve my overall health. But there's one thing that makes me hesitate. Any time, any place, you ask m...
I love "clean out your pantry" meals like this. Especially when time is not your friend. I believe that this also forces you to be creative in the kitchen but also keep you from thinking to much when you want just a simple, easy to prepare meal. Nice post!
Pork, Rice and Beans
Last week my husband was away on business and that usually means I eat out. You can read more about my love of dining alone here. But this time around I wanted to a) finish up all the leftovers in my fridge and b) not spend money on dining out. I had some pork chops in the fridge that I had ma...
Now that's looks so comforting...I always forget about this dish and how good it is. Never had it with rapini but a must do. Got to love one pot meals.
Chicken Cacciatore
My freezer is full of chicken thighs and breasts so it's only natural that I share another chicken recipe with you today. Chicken cacciatore roughly translated is hunter-style chicken. I read somewhere that the original version of this dish is made with rabbit. I absolutely love eating rabbit,...
I haven't had cannelloni for some time. This dish looks awesome and making me hungry. One tip for filling the pasta. Make a pseudo pastry bag out of a plastic zip bag, put the filling in the bag and snip the corner. Works great for cannoli too. Best of all, easy clean up...CHEERS!
Cannelloni with Ricotta and Baby Spinach
Another Sunday, another marathon day of cooking, this time no music playing in the background. I made three dishes, all of them easy, one-pot suppers. I think winter recipes should be done this way. Throwing everything together in a soup pot or Dutch oven and letting the ingredients slowly coo...
Another nice hearty meat sauce. Can't go wrong with that. Congrats on the guest post with Chef Dennis. Looking forward to that one.
A Hearty Meat Sauce
Monday I told you about my day of cooking soup, stew and sauce. Well, today I share with you my sauce recipe. I wanted to make a substantial sauce, something that would stick to your ribs, so a meat sauce that would simmer for a few hours on low heat was just the thing. Instead of using just g...
Now that's a stew I can get my teeth into. Especially if we had snow here in Vegas (yes it happens). I too LOVE chickpeas and sausage. Just never tried them together. Another must do.
Sunday, Stews and Sweatpants
Day: Sunday Time: 1:00 a.m. Music: Pandora's The Monkees station (playing The Monkees, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel and The Rollings Stones) I had been looking forward all week for today. Sunday was cooking day. I had researched several soup and ste...
Now that chicken looks so comforting. I too know how it feels not to have the time. Eating take-out is fine once in awhile but not as a regular thing. Great post and dish..
Simple and Delicious: Chicken and Rice with Saffron
Lately, I've been having less and less time to cook dinner during the week. The fact that I no longer work freelance from home may have something to do with it. I may have to start planning my meals on a weekly basis if I want to eat properly and avoid the whole take-out Chinese or pizza thing...
Oh Yes! The chicken looks great! I am too a fan of TJ's and, yes, it's $3 buck Chuck here in Vegas also and a go to for most cases (no pun intended). I also spent considerably more for worse wines. An awesome deal I think. Glad you found them. You won't be disappointed.
Baked Chicken with Swiss Chard and Bread
A couple of days into the new year and I am already lacking motivation to dig up new recipes and cook. I'm just having one of those weeks where I want to do nothing but watch TV and eat frozen pizzas and burritos. I've lost my cooking mojo. On a brighter note, I have recently discovered the jo...

I just got this post...What a great simple punch recipe...I like the mint with it...I think the reason why punch is so popular is that it is a way to stretch the alcohol especially in these economic times. Serve a lot of people without breaking the bank. Also it's a way not to get your guests too blotto to soon...LOL. Happy New Year!
Champagne Punch for New Year's Eve
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that punch has been the cocktail of 2010. Bars and lounges across the country have been serving up thousands of variations on this drink that hasn't seen the light of day since the '60s. For parties, punch is easy to make and it means that you'r...
Yes, Christmas dinner looks so delicious. Had to believe that Montreal didn't get snow and the East Coast did. As for the Dutch oven, I want one. Enjoy it well! And thanks for the comment on my blog post I appreciate it. Have a great New Year!
What I Did On My Christmas Vacation
Phew! After spending a few days in Montreal, my husband and I came back to New York only to discover it was hidden under a thick blanket of snow. Now Montreal is known for its long, harsh and snowy winters so it was surprising that while the entire East Coast experienced a blizzard on Sunday, Mo...
I love carnitas!...I like the orange juice version but would like to give the stock a shot. The OJ does give it a "sweeter" flavor along with tenderizing it. Either way this is major YUM!. Good post!
Pork Carnitas
I've been wanting to make pork carnitas since I tried my aunt's recipe when my husband and I were in LA in September. I had the pork in my freezer and I finally was ready to tackle a Mexican dish after a particularly bland attempt at enchiladas. I did a lot of research online to find a recipe ...
