I certainly don't think there would be anything weird in you writing about Aeofel. He's your character and an exceptionally interesting one at that. Heck, I would love to hear more about Acquisitions Inc in general. Three sessions with them just isn't enough.
From the Vault: a convenient literary metaphor
This was originally written in 2003, after I'd published Dancing Barefoot , and was still working on Just A Geek. At the time, I wasn't sure if I was a writer, an actor, or some combination of the two, though I was trying very hard to convince myself (and the Voice of Self Doubt) that I was just...

Many happy returns mate.
to mark the passage of three thousand six hundred and fifty-three days together
We went to Napa for our tenth anniversary. For the record: being married to your best friend rules.
Aeofel will be sorely missed, I even raised a shot of tequila in his memory after the podcast ended (I promise to raise two or more shots in celebration if he manages to return in a Gandalfian manner). You mentioned that you had written extensively about his backstory and I can't help but think that would be an awesome read. Do you plan to release that to the public at any time? Please?
I'm saying this for the last time: HIS. NAME. IS. AEOFEL!
I've been pointing out new episodes of the D&D/Penny Arcade/PvP/Me podcast on Twitter, but since the third series draws to a close today, I thought I'd catch up, and then share some thoughts on the final episode. My last post took us up to episode three, so... Episode Four: In this episode, the...
-holds up bag of shiny gold rocks- I must have these. One problem however, I will not be attending PAX. Any thoughts on offering this as a nice little package online? Maybe? Please?
it's the final countdown (to PAX 2009)
(Larger version and a couple other pictures at Flickr.)
I rewound it as well but it was because I had to confirm my initial "holy shit Wheaton is wearing a kilt!" reaction.
a happy accident
A few months ago, a casting director needed to get a picture of me with my luxurious beard. Since I haven't had any headshots taken since I grew this magnificent beard, my son and I took my camera out onto the patio so he could take a quick picture that would be good enough for e-mailing on ...
My condolences mate.
through the fish-eyed lens of tear stained eyes
My dog Ferris, who was rescued from a bus stop in Monrovia by my wife Anne almost exactly 8 years ago, had a heart attack and died this morning. It happened very quickly, and I was with her, which is supposed to make me feel better, but at this moment all I can feel is nearly-unbearable sorrow, ...
Those are awesome. I might just have to pick up a set now that my party is finally getting back together so they can die horribly in a sweet dungeon.
"...tactical terrain for building utilizable dioramas"
Gabe: The box of Dwarven Forge stuff I ordered showed up yesterday, and when Kara saw it she told me it looked like a dollhouse for boys. I laughed and explained that it was actually tactical terrain for building utilizable dioramas. This afternoon as I was placing the tiny mugs of ale in the ...
That's awesome! Yet another reason to pick up the game. Could we get a hint as to what character you voice or will we just have to play and find out?
the clockwork century
A few months ago, I got an ARC of my friend Cherie's forthcoming Steampunk book, Boneshaker. I've raved about it all over the place, so allow me to just sum up without repeating myself too much: it's awesome. I loved everything about it, and I can't wait for it to come out so the rest of the wor...
T'was a great read Wil. This is the kind of thing that makes me wish I could somehow get into acting. I've had the bug since I cracked Shakespeare at 13 but living in small town in NC (and not wanting to move to LA or somewhere of the like because I hate cities) kind of trumps my ambitions. But I digress -- thanks for giving us a glimpse into the life. Happy birthday Patrick, here's hoping for many, many happy returns.
to properly commemorate the anniversary of patrick stewart's birth (or: happy birthday, old baldy)
There are two ways that I can commemorate Patrick Stewart's birthday, today. The first: And the second, which comes in two parts. The first part should illustrate how awesome Patrick is, and why I like him so much. The second part should remove any lingering doubt. This is from Chapter Sev...
It's days like this I'm glad I subscribe. I might just run my party through this next, It has arrived at an exceptionally opportune time.
for those who want to whack kobolds with acquisitions, incorporated ...
Well, you can't exactly play with Acquisitions, Incorporated, but you can go on one of our adventures, because Wizards has put Storm Tower, the adventure that Chris Perkins wrote for the D&D/Penny Arcade/PvP/me podcast online. I can't wait to read this, find out about the stuff we missed, and se...
-standing ovation-
We must do it for the good of the world, they need this musical.
"if you treat her right, she'll always bring you home."
On Twitter yesterday, I said, "And now, a useless fact, brought to you by 'I need a break from rewriting Encounter At Farpoint': I loved Mike Tyson's Punchout on NES." I was flooded with replies that were variations of "WTF? Rewriting Encounter at Farpoint? Why?" I can see how, lacking context, ...
Encounter at Farpoint the musical, a Wil Wheaton production.
Now that, would be awesome.

/slow dramatic applause
it's all inside the wrist. it's all inside the way you time it.
Some more Memories of the Future edits, for your (and my) amusement. Here's the original: After a bit of exploring, they find themselves in the lab of Data's creator, Dr. Noonian Soong. Riker, Geordi, and Tasha all join forces to be sort of an Exposition Voltron, informing the audience that Noo...
I don't have a mockingbird, I have about five thousand frogs in a pond outside my window. They start "peeping" around six in the evening and continue their demonic symphony deep into the small hours.
I routinely curse them to the deepest hell.
clearly, my plan to kill it with beer isn't working
Me: Hey, I have to get up at 6am to be on TV. My Brain: Yeah, I saw that. Me: So it'd be awesome if you'd, uh ... My Brain: If I'd what? Me: If you'd, you know, just be quiet for seven hours or so. Just stop cranking out story ideas and stuff and let me get some sleep. We can get back to writing...
I hadn't actually seen this shirt before but between its utter geek factor and the ticking clock I had to order it. Hopefully it'll arrive in time for my party's next session.
Sorry to see that it's not going to be around for much longer.
my shirt.woot fails its saving throw
I don't know why, but Woot never e-mailed me to tell me that my shirt design was going into the Reckoning, and it slipped to number 22 when I wasn't looking. I was told that I'd get fair warning before it was in danger of being Reckoned, and I'm pretty pissed that that didn't happen. In fact, I...
T'was great Wil. Love hearing you read your stuff aloud.
Don't suppose you'll be making your way to the east coast anytime soon? Like say maybe... Dragon*con?
in which wil performs some material from the expanded happiest days
Hey look! It's me at the Emerald City Comicon, performing some stuff for the nice people. If the embed isn't working, this link may get you where you want to go. I thought it went well, especially considering that this was the first time any of these stories have been performed for an au...
Haha yeah same thing happened to me mate. Only difference is I now find myself DMing my first game ever (played or otherwise) this coming Wednesday.
his. name. is. AEOFEL!
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the release of the final D&D podcast in season two: "Here we go, folks – the final episode in our second series of podcasts with Acquisitions Inc. How will it end? The necromancer has the party on the ropes… can they hold him off? Or wi...
-applauds- It was wonderful, Wil. Looks like the ending brought misty eyes all around.
In a way I would love to see this as a series but it worked so well as an individual short, almost storybook in it composition, that I'm afraid it would only be gilding the proverbial lily.
kyle + rosemary is finally online
I'm too busy to write about how incredibly awesome my trip to Seattle was, but I just found out that kyle + rosemary is online, and I want everyone in the world to watch it, because I'm so proud of it: Find more videos like this on Channel Frederator RAW (Thanks to reader squonkmama for the ...
I might just have to put my campaign on hold and run a party of Wichaloks through the Fool's Grove delve http://tinyurl.com/foolsgrove Just imagine the smackdown such a conglomeration of badassitude could dole out upon the unsuspecting population of Enveloper Snugglers and Carbuncle Fatalists.
The podcast, as always, was awesome and left me perched on the edge of my chair, cursing at the screen when it cut off at a pivotal moment. I must know what happens!
a message for you rudy (the undead hound)
Episode sixseven of the D&D podcast is online, and it's my favorite one, so far. It starts with a scream. It continues with a battle standard being planted (augmented with another scream). And it ends with archers perforating Binwin… and Jim Darkmagic struggling to regain consciousness. In this...
hmm... that's strange. This was supposed to be in reply to Cand1date's comment about the Adam West Interlude at the end. Damn you spotty Internet connection, DAMN YOU!
just in case you wanted to talk about tonight's TNG reunion on Family Guy...
I have no idea. I just watched it a second time and that part still left me saying "WTF Mate?". The last scene with the cast was great though. I need a highlight reel with just the Next generation cast scenes... To iMovie!
just in case you wanted to talk about tonight's TNG reunion on Family Guy...
Indeed. I was really hoping for more TNG scenes, it seemed like there was a lot of untapped potential for the characters. We can explore the meaning of religion later give us our Star Trek dammit!
just in case you wanted to talk about tonight's TNG reunion on Family Guy...
One of the best in the series so far. Though the ending had me shouting "Oh come on a cliffhanger? Really??" at my iPod.
The moment where Binwin gets yanked in to the "jaws of nasty snatching" was priceless. I'm pretty sure Chris enjoyed pulling that stunt more than he let on. I can only wait in breathless anticipation for the finale.
roll d20 and save versus retcon
The latest episode of the D&D Penny Arcade/PvP/Me podcast went up yesterday. I listened to it while I was driving to and from this awesome job I was explicitly prohibited from describing in detail, and I loved it. This party is on fire! Literally… and as if that weren't bad enough, Binwin is dr...
Wow i feel really young -- and not in a good sense. Being 19 sucks. I have no reference when people talk about things like Pink Floyd. I just nod, smile and quietly wiki the band.
Books I Love: A Saucerful of Secrets
I'm very busy working on a few different things, including the craziest idea yet, but it's important to me to maintain momentum and keep posting in my blog, so it's time for another series of Things I Love. This week, I'm going to highlight some books that were important to me when I was becomin...
