I like that you have as many as 3 people working under you in this endeavor. Some good stuff should come of this. Funny thing is that my cousin just got hired by Jinx and there he is on "your team". I love that they hire creative staff who are immersed in teh culture.
No good "rules lawyer" stories, just a funny DM who had these original Gygax books. You'd think you got a critical hit and all you did was chop a guy's nose off, reducing his Charisma to 0. :(
my sword glows blue in the presence of rules lawyers
Around the end of last year, I Twittered: Just read this on Board Game Geek: "My sword glows blue in the presence of rules lawyers." I kind of want that on a T-shirt. I figured that it was very unlikely that I was the first person on all of the internet to combine gaming archetypes with Lord o...
E3? Gencon? PAXs?
You live the life on a Uni-pega-Kitten firing lazers...
I have to say that Cons are fun. This was been my second year at KublaCon, and it's been a blast. When you go to Gencon, are you going to check out any of the independent RPGs and Tabletop games? Looking forward to that report.
Field Report: E310
The last time I went to E3, it was one of the most annoying experiences of my life. I remember feeling assaulted by sound in a convention hall that was so crowded, I couldn't take more than two steps without stopping. It was miserable. Yesterday, I went back to E3 for the first time in two or th...
Interestingly enough you can get the GR series on Valve (a great place since they've rereleased a lot of old classics like XCOM!). As a Mac Fan, have you checked out Valve's Steam for Mac? Friends say it is a little glitchy still, but Portal and TF2 work well... Seems like the lament that Mac Users don't get enough game support may come to an end.
From the Vault: "Foster is down!"
Today is the first day in a week that I didn't get up at 4am to go to work. I really wish I could say what I've been working on, because it's awesome, but I have to keep that information in a secure location for at least a few more days. It was pretty great that I got to sleep late - I rolled ou...
I can't find my Deluxe Edition. It was pretty awesome, and it is somewhere in the parents attic...
On a note...

You can purchase the rules via pdf.
Their product page is pretty cool too.

I need a Nook.
in which the case for buying an iPad is almost made
When Apple announced the iPad, I was so unimpressed and bored with it, I couldn't even muster a "meh." It seemed to solve a problem that didn't exist, and while I kept waiting for Apple to make the case for it, I don't think they ever did. I mean, if I'm going to spend five hundred fucking dolla...
Well, you'll know your availability more so than the rest of us (even though we may push). The big one up here is the Kublacon at the end of May. Bay Area focus, but I've met people from all over the state (and some out of state). Minis galore and RPG madness!
Wil Wheaton's 2009 Dwarven Dungeon Delve of Doom! Benefitting the Child's Play Charity
I'm about to head out to RinCon, and before I left, I wanted to make sure I let everyone attending know that I'm doing what I think will be a pretty awesome fundraiser for Child's Play while I'm there. First, some history: Way back in the olden days, when 8 bits were enough to blow your mind on ...
Will, and why aren't you doing this at other Cons??? You could be raising so much for Child's Play (from me, particularly). Bay Area geeks would be fighting for table space... Sigh.

I'm counting on another Acquisitions Inc. session for my commute. So looking forward to it.
You should roll this...

announcing THE AWESOME HOUR!!1
The schedule for PAX 09 has been posted, and I am on it. BEHOLD: Wil Wheaton first came to PAX in 2007, when he gave the keynote address that your parents won't stop making you listen to in the car. In 2008, he returned for a panel that asked and answered the burning question, "Can Wil Wheaton r...
Memories. I got started in middle school where our DM was our history teacher (he had one of the first D&D shops in CA back in the day). I've never met anyone as good a DM as he was. He had fun with the criticals and would pull out these little books to refence. Imagine the disappointment after rolling 2 natural 20's and finding out you chopped the orc's nose off and reduced his already pitiful CH to 0. As for a suggestion that may entice Nolan, check out THW.

Miniature game (with NO set minis and NO set scale) with a RPG feel to it. They have some freebies to check out. I recently purchased their All Things Zombies and 5150 sets.
Lizardmen live in the marshes
"This is a game that is fun. It helps you imagine." -Preface to the D&D Basic Rules Set, 1983 I'm following the "blog less while you're writing stories" rule, so I can stay on target and get this novella finished before Duke Nukem Forever ships. So, very briefly: Playing a tiny bit of D&D 4e at...
Wil,
Had to post for the SJ area and shout out about beer goodness. There is a little hole-in-the-wall pub (much like Old Town Pub in Dena. i will shed a tear at its passing) called Trials that has cask aged ales that are oh so good and a fine selection of Single Malts.
2008 Convention Schedule
Scalzi does these posts from time to time that are filled with information, mostly so he can point people to them when the information contained therein is requested at some point in the mysterious future. This will be one of those posts. It may be updated from time to time, though it's more lik...
