The slow moving, slow talking, DHS whale arsed people with the 80 IQ are going to invade us?
Har, har, har.
Bring it on, we'll burn your white house for you, again, just like we did last time.
Plans to invade Canada proceed
Or maybe you have a better explanation for this insanity. The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States. MRAPs for DHS, what could possibly go wron...
There was this fella once, gay dude, bad habits but quite bright, Turing, or summat, had this idea about what could do what and what could do anything. It seems PHP = FORTRAN = COBOL == (Just to piss you off), PL/1(What a fucking horror that one was) = Python = Ruby = Algol = Algol 68(see how old I am) = OK, you get the point.
When I'm not hacking about my computer I work with tradesmen - plumbers, carpenters, electricians. You should look at their tool boxes. Horror, upon horror, chipped chisels, busted wrenches, dull saws, bent drill bits, und so weiter.
There is no perfect tool. Well, except maybe Obama.
The PHP Singularity
Look at this incredible thing Ian Baker created. Look at it! What you're seeing is not Photoshopped. This is an actual photo of a real world, honest to God double-clawed hammer. Such a thing exists. Isn't that amazing? And also, perhaps, a little disturbing? That wondrous hammer is a de...
Cobb, what possesses you to put up with these people? Are you cruel? Are you laughing at them?
Do you think cnulan, for example, actually believes the tales the Somali pirates tell? Is he so ignorant that he does not know that they have been telling similar fairy tales forever? That Waugh documented similar lying excuses from the same people in the 1930s?
Does cnulan think that everyone lies...except Somalis?
I really cannot tell what DMG thinks, he seems more coherent that cnulan, but DMG seems really, really to hate you a lot.
Anyway, nice blog.
Security and Stability in The Horn of Africa
Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea. What happens next? Now that at two American crews have been attacked by pirates off the Horn of Africa, it has become the focus of attention. What is the proper role of America in establishing stability and security in that area of the world? What should we expect to ...
Oh DMG, you poor boy/girl, such anger.
Even worse, your German stinks. Du bist ein dummer arschloch , und dein Deutsch ist ganz verkehrt. Du muss sagen: "Sollte ich es Ihnen auf Deutsch sagen".
Not 'in' German, but rather 'auf' German.
Peut-être vous êtes Français?
Notice that in French I use the polite form, but in German I use both. Quite droll, innit?
As for qualifications, what makes you think you can ask me to prove anything? Your arguments are ad hominem disgraces largely, with many other logical fallacies well known to the Romans and avoided by them with embarrassment.
As for you cnulan, I see from your profile you have made 1987 comments on one blog. Best see a doctor about that. Anyone who uses, in an attempt at serious argument, the phrase 'neo-con' has just exposed himself as mildly crazy, seriously left, probably anti-semitic and out of touch. I read with great enjoyment however some of your many exposes of bad, bad westerners dumping barrels or buckets or whatever of unnamed pollutants off Somalia and doing various other things (I confess I only skimmed - I was laughing too hard) to the poor, poor, helpless wogs. Seemed well informed and highly likely to me. I myself plan to save a few pennies myself on my next garbage disposal by dumping the stuff off Somalia, thereby costing myself millions, risking life, limb, reputation and fortune. I compliment you on your careful application of the old Roman question: Cui bono.
But you missed the answer which is: Nobody.
And you're right, they're not wogs, they're ...

Hallo DMG, thanks for telling me to shut up too. Very persuasive.
Perhaps you should have an adult refreshment and calm down. Cobb posts that the piracy situation is interesting and raises questions. You respond that piracy is a symptom but you agree the the first item of business is to "Secure the rescue of our citizen". Cobb then disagrees with you as to whether piracy is a symptom and also the implications of piracy being a symptom then makes some sophisticated arguments about moral relativism and the soft bigotry of low expectations.
At which you go off the deep end and start ranting. You might even have a few arguments in there, but your writing is so prickish that nobody cares.
So have beer or a glass of wine or some bourbon or some goddam thing.
Oh sorry, did I mean prickly? Perhaps you could help me there what you bein' all so qualified and all and me bein' such a gap-toothed sister marryin' hillbilly an' all.

DMG, your argument - "Cobb, shut up" was quite enlightening, about you and persuasive, that you have no substantive arguments and it was safe to quit reading your comments.
Cobb, I read your post a few weeks ago about discovering, or perhaps re-discovering Kipling, and was moved to dig out my old books. Kipling has not said much about the Horn of Africa, but I respectfully commend to your attention Evelyn Waugh's 'Black Mischief', 'Scoop' and 'Waugh in Abyssinnia'.
Not much has changed since Italy tried, again, to have a 'role' in that part of the world.

Economic Concsiousness Explained
For the past several months I have been making efforts to sharpen my economic reading. I feel pretty good about the effort. So I summarize. Blogs The first stop on the road to enlightenment is the blogosphere. So I've added and subtracted and aded blogs to my RSS aggregator, Google Reader. The s...
