Like half the world (it seems), I've fallen for the updated nautical look. Not only have I redesigned my blog to accommodate that, but I'm getting ready for summer at the beach. I've collected a few things for the kitchen:... Continue reading

I read Nick & Norah, then With a Little Luck, then London is the Best City in America. Gave them all 4. Now I'm on Race of a Lifetime, about the 2008 election. Very interesting! I'm going to have to check out this Repeat book -- like I don't have enough to read :)

You're brave, Stella, rereading Salem's Lot! I couldn't do it.

I thought you might say that :) (About N&N). The Stephen King really is a fantastic read. I also just bought Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close because I can't wait for the movie (another month) and didn't realize it was actually a book, though suspected it might be. I think that's going to be a full-on read as well.

In 2004 when I was studying at the Institut Catholique in Paris's Latin Quarter, I caught a bus that took me across the Pont Alexandre every morning. Among the oh-so-many sites I passed was the gauge that records the high-water... Continue reading

This apartment has something I've always wanted: a red front door. However, this particular red door was looking a little sad, with scratches that showed its original (oh shit no!) mission brown paint and so I decided it was time... Continue reading

I can imagine how tough it is to keep on top with 4 people--I keep everything out of sight in the dishwasher. I realized part of the pleasure of the kitchen is that it's a signal to my body to start winding down at the end of the day. And the place is getting there--got lots of plans! As for Emma, you KNOW I'm going to love it. Just the cover alone has me thrilled :) Gx

Carolyn, sorry to have taken so long to reply, but a big thank you for your comment. And I'm sorry to hear you lost your 2. It's such a big, big loss that it's only been for the past few weeks that I can talk about them without choking up. I'm keeping an eye on your blog for when you're ready. Take care :)
