FYI, if you're headed to Knoxville, Tenn., this weekend be prepared to see some of these. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/16/time-to-die-t-shirts-all-the-rage-on-rocky-top/?related=1 -jo-

Is it not your opinion that Steve Newlin is a clone of Dereck Dooley? I can understand you dodging the question but many of your blogs are based on opinion. But an opinion is inherently biased, so I'll pass until the Herald promotes me to full-time columnist. If I had a daughter who went to UF, I might have answered you differently. -jo-

Dont' get too excited Mr. Rocky Top. Having Omarius Hines at slot receiver instead of Rainey actually might help UF. -jo-

Cmon Goodie. Astonished? Please. We have known what type of person Rainey is from the first day he arrived in Gainesville. Posted by: Slimbo | September 15, 2010 at 02:02 AM ________________________________________________ And to that I would say your attitude of acceptance is part of the problem. -jo-

With this last one Rainey just pulled should be enough to where he never steps foot on that campus again. Will Oscar follow through on that, I doubt it. When hes healthy enough he will play and the time off will be used as his suspension. Sorry but if you text/tell a woman its time to die you should be kicked out of that school right then and there. For the record, a total of 25 players since Meyer has been in Gainesville have been arrested for a combined total of 30 misdemeanors (20) and felonies (10). Other players had sworn complaints filed against them or were issued criminal citations, requiring them to appear in court. -jo-

UF wont suspend Rainey. I wouldnt be shocked if Oscar had the girl arrested for having a cell phone for him to send a text to. GO VOLS Posted by: Rocky Top | September 14, 2010 at 04:07 PM ________________________________________________ If past precedence means anything, then Rainey could be permanently dismissed from the team. Former Gators Gary Brown, Ronnie Wilson and Jacques Rickerson were each dismissed from the team by Meyer after allegedly harming women. One of Meyer's "core values" for his team is respect for women. -jo-

Every dam year.. Every year some CLOWN(s) think S. Carolina is the team to beat. Yeah right. Every year... in 2 weeks they will have thier 1st loss. Every year... in 4 weeks they will be switching QBs Every year... in 6 weeks they might be above .500 S. Carolina will NEVER win an SEC East title. Just give it up already1 Posted by: Football Guy | September 13, 2010 at 02:47 PM ________________________________________________ I just don't think South Carolina will win an SEC title while Stephen Garcia is at the school. That guy is a joke, in my opinion. I mean, he's a chain smoker for crying out loud! I think SOS calls him the Marlboro Man. Maybe he'll prove me wrong this season, but in years past he hasn't had the heart. I don't think that's a personal attribute you can acquire in one year. -jo-

As a follow up topic of discussion - Looks like South Carolina is the team to beat in the east. That Lattimore kid is a beast, they've got big receivers, and a solid defense. If Spurrier is going to do it, it has to be this year. Posted by: Gator Dude | September 13, 2010 at 08:40 AM ________________________________________________ As a follow up to your follow up :), I've identified three things that could possibly lead to a national title run for the Gators. 1. Stopping Trent Richardson. 2. Stopping Mark Ingram. 3. Stopping Marcus Lattimore. Also, who here thinks Arkansas is overrated and is going to lose to Georgia on the road this Saturday (other than me, of course)? -jo-

Hey Joe, I think the slow start is due to the evolution in play calling. The triple option stuff simply has to go (e.g. shuttle pass inside). Once the coaches get sold on the traditional drop back, hand-off, pitch-out play calling, I'm certain the offense will optimize. Defense looks good and special teams look OK (good not great). Given all the question marks coming into the season I think the Gators are where they should be right now. I believe they will improve markedly as the play calling improves. Posted by: Gator Dude | September 13, 2010 at 08:33 AM ________________________________________________ I agree. No more shovel pass! This play had its day and that day is gone. A well-coached team like USF simply isn't going to take the bait with Brantley at QB. Like you, Gator Dude, I agree that the play calling is going to improve as the season progresses. Personally, I think Meyer needs to loosen the reigns a little bit and let Steve Addazio do this thing. Addazio comes from a traditional offensive background, so this offense should be right up his alley. Five things that MIGHT help the play calling (but what do I know): 1. NO MORE SHOVEL PASS! 2. Use Jordan Reed more often at tight end. 3. Let Trey Burton focus on one position instead of eight. 4. More play-action. 5. Identify someone who can make a catch downfield (35 yards or more). -jo-

Of course, there's always the matter of the T-shirt company giving Tebow "XV" shirts while he was in college. Something does seem fishy there. -jo-

Wait until the NCAA hears about this. What an investigation this is about 2 open up. Promotin a company not endorsed by the NCAA & u & ur family r involved in it.. The 30+ arrests, the pouncey agent thing, the renegade program, the absentee coach, the freshmen class in revolt, will b small potatos compared 2 this whopper.. Posted by: 305_GAtor | September 09, 2010 at 05:23 AM ________________________________________________ What is the NCAA going to investigate? Team Tebow had great forsight. I don't think that violates any rules. Besides, the NCAA bent over backwards for Team Tebow his senior year of college to make sure he didn't turn pro. Just a hunch, but I don't think the NCAA is going to be investigating Team Tebow anytime soon. It would be interesting, however, to find out when the "XV" logo was trademarked. -jo-

jo, when are you going to realize adazzio is predictable, un-imaginative and simply not what the Gator faithful would expect in an offensive coord after having the likes of Mullen on our sideline. Mullen basically carved out the sculpture that is the flrida offense Posted by: j0ec00l | September 06, 2010 at 06:23 PM ________________________________________________ It's a little premature to start criticizing Addazio's play calling, in my opinion. That said, criticize him all you want for Pouncey. Seriously, does it really matter what plays you call if you have 14 bad snaps in a game and eight fumbles? No, it does not. -jo-

In case you're wondering, the Gators' lowest offensive total in Urban Meyer Era was 206 yards against LSU in 2005. Florida currently has 157 total offensive yards against Miami of Ohio with less than four minutes left in the game. -jo-

Gators Jeff Demps sprints for a 72-yard touchdown. Always helps to have the fastest man in college on your team on days like this. -jo-
