I am deeply amused that your text message tone is the original Star Trek communicator noise, since that's my twitter sound and my text message/gchat sound is Mr. Worf saying "Captain, incoming message." I love living in the future, too!

I wasn't one of those kids whose parents had a lot of income, but I rarely ever wanted for things. I got lucky in that. I was also raised with a very strong appreciation for manners and was taught please and thank you, along with a whole bunch of etiquette that goes with it and I still use it to this day. One thing I don't ever do is the aforementioned hand written note. Not because I wasn't raised that it was proper to do so, but because my hand writing is horrible and if I were to do a hand written note, the recipient wouldn't be able to read it. I generally opt for typing out my message and signing the letter, or a nice card and possibly a poem written by me that I type up and print out. It doesn't seem very nice to make someone read my terrible writing... ;-)

Gee, I'm also in the same boat with tending towards bluntness. I also have a tendency towards wearing purple and several rings on both hand. I guess those make me fairly unique. Along with my hair, which I can't change without harsh chemicals, which isn't happening regardless of how frustrating it is some times...

I think the fact that you're owning your mistake counts for a lot. I know it's one of the things that helps me to forgive people. Time will tell and I still think you're awesome.
