Slightly OT, but its been noted that a number of photographers seem to be unusually long-lived - Adams, Cartier-Bresson, Levitt, Rogevin, etc. I know the speculation behind it revolves around mental engagement and longevity, but I wonder if there's been anything more than anecdotal in terms of the statistical aberration here...

Discovery Channel did a program/series awhile back on new home technologies and it was thoroughly fascinating, leading to the same flights of imagination. Obvious innovations were things like alternative energy sourcing, geothermal, PV solar, etc., as well as LED lighting, ethernet controlled electrical switching, etc. But also interesting were new insulation technologies and construction materials, such as AAC concrete panels and materials both more efficient and robust than standard wood-frame housing. Now if you can get it to all be energy and carbon-neutral despite all the power usage, you've really got something there.
Got a 30 yr old Hasselblad 500 C/M this year after years of coveting. Couldn't believe the bargain as the new ones were so expensive as to be imaginary to me. Followed it up with a Rolleiflex Automat '54, mostly on a lark because I didn't think I could lose for $150. Couldn't be happier with the rush to digital by others. And all in for the maybe around $1500, including the 80mm and 150mm for the Hassy, as well as Odess service. Of course, you still have to add in the MF scanner, handheld meter, etc. but nonetheless well worth it. Just the act of slowing down has been helpful alone.
